Woodlands Quaker Home is a non-profit home for older people owned and managed by The Society of Friends (Quakers).

The Main house with 35 residents, has served as a residential home since 1945 and is a Victorian listed building of charm and character. The Spinney located in the old stable block, is a 9-bedroomed self-contained unit for residents who have a severe dementia. Elsewhere in the same grounds is The Paddock,which comprises of 25 warden assisted flats.

Woodlands has a welcoming and homely atmosphere with an emphasis on quality care, comfort and security in a residential setting which is very much involved with the local community.

I was lucky to get my dad into Woodlands Quaker Home in 2019. It sounds cheesy but I do believe it was fate as I had just got to the point where I was really struggling with him at home. It has been his home until he recently passed away. I say home because that is what it is. Everyone is part of a
big family and all of the staff interact with the residents, not just the care staff. Words cannot convey how much I have valued the care they gave my dad right up to the day he died. They have looked after him superbly as well as taking the time to have a laugh and a joke with him. Woodlands Quaker Home is a beautiful care home with stunning grounds and I can honestly say I wouldn't mind ending up there myself! Special praise to all of the hardworking compassionate staff who run the home like a well-oiled machine. They are all amazing and deserve a medal. All the family will have special memories of our time there and I will miss visiting.

Woodlands Quaker Home is not your average care home, it is a building full of character with well-maintained gardens, fresh home-cooked meals and management and carers who are there 24/7. There is a salon and activities are arranged for them (sit down keep fit, sing-a-longs and coffee/tea mornings).
My father has been here for nearly three years. He feels safe and secure, which gives me peace of mind knowing I have picked the right home for him.

The Woodlands is a beautiful home and made the transition for my wife, who was going in for respite, extremely well. The manager and all staff we have found to be extremely caring, and thing is too much trouble. My wife has settled so well, and this is all down to the care and support of all the staff

It had come to a time where the difficult decision had to be made for my mum who has got vascular dementia to go into a care home, after 8 years at home with my dad, the Woodlands Quaker Home team made this happen with great care and empathy not only to my mum and dad but to all our family and for that,
I am ever grateful. The Woodlands Quaker Home is exceptional, their ethos of care shows through all their staff and all residents are treated with care, kindness and the upmost respect and most of all their dignity. They are all like a big family and that's the feeling you get every time you go. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Woodlands Quaker Home to anyone.

The care given to my wife during her time at Woodlands was excellent. I experienced a great deal of genuine care from staff and management throughout. I had peace of mind knowing that my wife was receiving the best of care.

This is an exceptional care home, it is unlike all of the other care homes we looked at.
It has the most wonderful atmosphere and I would describe it as a home that cares, rather than just a care home; everyone is made to feel welcome, including relatives and friends that visit.
My stepfather was
a resident at Woodlands for two and a half years. He had already had dementia before he went to live at Woodlands and anything new was quite distressing for him; because of this there were a few challenges initially, yet he was welcomed into Woodlands with open arms and was very soon made to feel at home by the kind, friendly, respectful and hard-working staff, who most importantly are happy in their work.
It was a great relief to our family that my stepfather was here and was so well cared for during the Covid restrictions, and I will always be grateful for this.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Woodlands to anybody!

The Woodlands is an excellent home. The staff are friendly and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble and they do everything to keep the residents happy and well. It is like the most fabulous family. I can't recommend it highly enough!

My mother was resident at the Woodlands from January 2020. The care and kindness she received from the first day was wonderful. The room she had was purpose built with an en-suite and was always immaculately clean. Despite the constraints of Covid-19, staff have welcomed calls from family, shared events
and photos regularly and worked so hard. Sadly my mother died recently and I cannot thank the staff enough for their loving compassion for Mom and for us as a family. Highly recommend.

My mother moved into Woodlands with vascular dementia, COPD and rheumatoid arthritis in November 2020 after delays caused by the coronavirus. At every step of this difficult journey, the general manager and her staff have been superb. There is a sense of well organized yet calm operation at Woodlands.
The building is warm, immaculately clean and the carers speak in tones of respect to the residents. My Mom worked as a chef for many years and she enjoys the food here. When permitted to enter the home, closely following regulations, I have been made to feel welcome. Communication by phone and email is thorough and friendly and I am aware that an elegant effort is always made to answer my questions in full and with honesty. My overall impression of Woodlands is that it is performing an incredibly important and dedicated service to vulnerable people in a graceful, caring and natural way.

I cannot praise highly enough the quality of care my dad has received over the last three years. The caring ethos runs from senior leader at the top to all staff at all levels. My Father was cared for here for the last three years of his life. He enjoyed the beautiful gardens, excellent meals and the very kind and friendly carers. His last months were during the difficult time of Covid restrictions when everything was done to protect residents health, as well as considering
their emotional needs. When Dad was receiving end of life care, arrangements were made for me to spend as much time with him during his last few weeks as I wished. I not only felt relief that Dad was being extremely well cared for, but I also felt cared for myself, at this difficult time. I will always appreciate this.

Mom was cared for at Woodlands in the Spinney Unit for the last 18 months of her life when she was frail and suffered with dementia. The staff were always professional and looked after Mom with kindness and compassion. They took the time to get to know Mom and treat her as an individual and truly enriched
the last months of her life. We were always welcomed as family. The Woodlands has a real home atmosphere and the standards of care are set through strong leadership. The end of life care and the support we received were truly exceptional and we are thankful that we found the Woodlands as Mom’s last home.

Mum lived at Woodlands for 3.5 years, and it has been a happy association with all the staff at the home. Everyone has shown care and kindness to Mum (and her family) as she became more frail and moved from independence to needing more help. Any issues have been dealt with quickly, professionally and

Mother was in the care of Woodlands for four year, for which I/we never had reason to complain. The staff and carers were always pleasant, courteous and caring to myself and my mother. My relationship with my mother in her last few years grew whilst at Woodlands. I used to very much enjoy visiting.

I feel the home has provided excellent care for my Uncle over the past few years and especially over the last year. When his Parkinsons worsened, the staff/carers did all they could to help him be involved in activities, help him personally and make sure he still ate well by helping him feed himself.
Never a complaint from my Uncle and he always stated he was very happy at the home.
Every time I visited, I was greeted with a smile from staff, his room was always clean, the common areas were clean and when I stayed for lunch, food was always good.
My Uncle passed away a few weeks ago from his illnesses but right up to the last minute, the staff treated him with dignity and looked after his every need without fuss.
It has been a pleasure knowing the staff and carers since my Uncle chose this as the home he wanted to be in and comfort in the way they looked after him.
This was simply a new address for my Uncle as this became his new home which he loved.

My mum had a fall and my father, her carer, found it difficult as he was ill at Christmas, so as my mum had attended activities, as she lives in the adjoining sheltered housing, she moved into the home for respite care.
She enjoyed her stay there, but more importantly, the homes assistance to rehabilitate
her to enable her to return to The Paddock to live back at home with their continued care assistance, allowing her to have a bath and join in activities again, so encouraging her independent living with my dad at home.

What a truly amazing care home. Every member of staff without exception made the last 7 months of my mother's life as comfortable as they could be. She was treated with the utmost dignity throughout. My father was welcomed into the community with open arms. He visited every day to sit with Mum and he
was made extremely welcome at all times. The care during and after my Mum's death was exceptional.

I have lived at the Woodlands for just over a year now. I feel very settled and content. The staff are caring and I enjoy the meals here. I have made friends with some of the other residents.
There are a variety of activities on offer and I enjoy the classical music group and going out into the lovely
gardens when the weather is nice.

From the moment my mum arrived at Woodlands Quaker, she was loved and received the most amazing care. During the last few weeks of her life, the respect and dignity we all received from the staff was faultless. My mum passed away peacefully receiving care right until the end.

My family and I chose the wrong care home. We were taken in by the glitter and smart reception, we believed what we were told.
It was a disaster!
After several months of searching, we found The Woodlands Quaker Home, a home that not only gives excellent care to the residents but is also mindful of
the needs of their relatives.
The management team and all employees work with a smile but are always aware of their responsibilities.
In other words a proper caring, care home.
