Swan Hill House Residential Home

My mother has been in Swan Hill House Residential Home for 10 months. She is very well cared for in in terms of her physical and mental well being. The head of care has ensured that mum's food is balanced and in line with her almost vegetarian diet, meals are specially prepared. Mum is free to come and go as she wishes and enjoys the independence. The communication between the home and us, as her family, is good and the home ensures that we are well informed about any issues. The head of care has helped mum with arranging medical and dental appointments too. When anything needs actioning the head of care and the team are really responsive and we feel reassured that mum is well looked after 24/7.

A very good friend of mine is a resident, and I would just like to say that I think the staff are very friendly, helpful, and very caring, from what my friend has told me he's very happy there.

My mother came to Swan Hill House a few weeks ago and the care is outstanding. The manager works so hard and is good at her job. Always helpful and gives me updates on my mum's care. My mum has been in another care home and after her being here can see what a poor home the last home was. The staff are all friendly and always offer you a drink and make you feel welcome. Well done you are all doing an amazing job.

My 94 year old mother has been a resident at Swan Hill House for seven years. She is well cared for by a team of hardworking, compassionate and professional staff, who respect her individual needs and wishes. The food has always been excellent and she has appreciated the responsiveness of the chef and team to her personal food choices. Our family is made very welcome by staff when we visit. Whilst the residents always benefitted from the attention given by the experienced and dedicated care staff, some aspects of organisation and procedures were showing strain a year or so ago. I am very pleased to be able to say that since her appointment the current Head of Care has tackled any issues with determination and made impressive progress in improving standards. My husband and I have noticed a marked improvement in my mother's physical and mental well-being as a result and we are kept consistently informed about her well-being. Swan Hill House is a warm and compassionate environment.

Gracious building which has its challenges, but immaculately clean, and pleasant garden. Central position. Staff kind, caring, compassionate, with range of personalities. Food excellent in range, quality and variety, nicely presented and served with tactful assistance where appropriate. Residents' personal space respected, but with an alertness to their needs. Equipment satisfactory. Medical issues appear to be dealt with meticulously. Key worker system bedding down satisfactorily. Whole ambience informal rather than institutional. Highly committed care manager.

My husband has been a resident at Swan Hill House for the past four years and has received excellent care from the dedicated staff. They are unfailingly cheerful, considerate and friendly and show great concern for his welfare. I am kept well informed when any health issues crop up. The home is always very welcoming with a strong family atmosphere.

Overall Swan Hill House is excellent. Some of the staff considerably more helpful than others. It is beautifully kept and very clean. However my father's room is clean and tidy but very drab looking out onto a wall resulting in needing the light on during the day, my dad is not complaining though. Other rooms look much brighter. We have no worried with the care he receives well done to the staff.

The chef provides a varied and delicious range of meals with individual tastes and dietary needs fully catered for. Staff are warm and caring and visiting family and friends are made to feel very welcome. I can not imagine that my mother could have ever have found a better place than this.

This residential home is ideally situated in the centre of town with cultural activities easily accessible. The home is always clean and tidy with many stimulating activities for residents to take part in. The staff are a very dedicated team who have the interests of the residents at the heart of what they do and are always available to help with enquiries.

Again, we were sent an invitation inviting us to the Swan Hill Garden Party and again it was a great success. The staff did a fantastic job organising all the residents and guests into the marque. The food was a good choice and the ceremony for handing out certificates to all residents, so no one was left out. A very enjoyable afternoon for all guests, residents and staff.

Swan Hill House is a very efficiently run care home. In the town centre of Shrewsbury. It has excellent standards of cleanliness and is very well kept. The staff are professional but also very caring and efficient. There are activities run on most days which they are encouraged to do. There is also an annual garden party for all friends and family of residents which is enjoyable. Relatives and friends are offered a drink when visiting. The food is also of a good standard and residents are offered a glass of sherry/soft drink each lunchtime.

My mother always looks well dressed and clean and I feel that she is in safe hands. I have no hesitation in recommending Swan Hill as a care home.

My wife has been a resident in Swan Hill House since October 2015. Her care has been 1st class throughout which is very re-assuring. The staff are kind, caring and sympathetic and most appear genuinely fond of her. Their patience with more demanding residents is remarkable. It would be difficult to find a good alternative if it were it to close. Perish the thought!

Recently attended the annual summer lunch at Swan Hill House. We were so impressed with the elegance and ease with which the owner and her staff entertained. It really felt like she was in her own home. All the residents seemed extremely happy with the care home and the facilities are beautiful. All aspects of this care home are outstanding.

My residence has involved day respite care only for several short periods (8 days) while family members are abroad. I always look forward to these visits which count to me as "holidays". I enjoy the happy atmosphere, being very well cared for and there is the bonus of a lovely garden - with a garden party on my last visit. I look forward to visiting again in the future. I appreciate the welcome I receive.

My mother has settled into the house, she has become better at being independent now. She walks better. The carers help to make her happy.

An excellent care home at which mother is extremely happy and well looked after.

My father has been a resident at Swan Hill House for 3 years. He first went there with my mother. The staff and management have always been very helpful and caring. My mother has now passed away but she was treated really well during her last few weeks at Swan Hill. I have found the management very approachable and the home has a very family friendly atmosphere. My father is now 89-years of age and, the way he is cared for by the manager and staff, I hope he reaches 90-years.

Swan hill house is an extremely well kept Carehome. It has high standards of cleanliness inside and a beautiful garden. The food and care given is also of a very good standard and run efficiently. Activities take place most days which are of a good standard and there is a nice relaxed atmosphere. It also benefits from being in the town centre and near the Quarry Park.I would not hesitate in recommending it.
