Wilbraham House

The Old Vicarage, Church Street, Audley, Stoke-on-Trent ST7 8DE

Wilbraham House is a luxury care home, nestled on the Cheshire-Staffordshire border, in the village of Audley. Wilbraham House offers residential, dementia, and palliative care.

The majority of bedrooms are en-suite and rooms are not assigned by care type. Instead, they encourage residents to choose the room that’s right for them. The home has a number of wonderful communal spaces, including two dining spaces, lounges, and within walking distance of St James Church (Church of England).

Trained chefs provide a daily menu of nutritious, tasty meals, which residents can have in the restaurant-style dining room or their own rooms, whichever they prefer. Special dietary requirements will be catered for.

An activities coordinator plans regular events so everyone is kept busy, though participation is entirely optional. There are daily events in the home as well as regular excursions. Residents and relatives are invited to contribute to the planning sessions, to ensure that everyone desires are being met.

Care workers understand that moving into Wilbraham House will be a considerable transition but one that they try to make feel as easy as possible. By helping you arrange your room just the way you like, or bringing you your daily newspaper, the staff at Wilbraham House do the little things that make the biggest difference.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.625 for Wilbraham House is calculated as follows: ( (15 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.625

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.553 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wilbraham House is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 6.6 positive Reviews (33 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 6.6 Target = 0.303

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My nan lived here for many years until she passed away this month. I have got to say the staff are absolutely fantastic. I think they are the most caring people I have ever met. They go way above what they had to do for both my nan and all of my family. I would recommend them to anyone looking for care for a relative.

Wilbraham House staff have consistently given an extremely high level of care over the past 5 years. There is a strong sense of belonging akin to a family home environment which permeates across staff, residents and management alike. This also translates to the staff striving to understand individual needs and provide a safe, dignified, caring environment and a more personalised service. There is a wide range of weekly activities to suit everyone including provision for family participation which encourages and supports all concerned.

I have no hesitation in recommending Wilbraham House to anyone who faces such a difficult decision-making process. I am so grateful that we made the right decision in our time of need. A huge thank you to the amazing staff who have given tremendous care, above and beyond our expectations.
