Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum has been at The Beeches for a while now and I have nothing but good things to say. The staff and owners are amazing and have done everything to help my mum since she moved in earlier this year. From what I have seen every resident's welfare comes first and every resident is treated as an individual
and with dignity and respect. The staff work tirelessly to make sure residents are cared for in every possible way. It is sad but my mum will be leaving and I really wish she could stay but she needs 24-hour nursing care now. There is no doubt I will miss everyone. The team at The Beeches have kept our loved ones safe during these strange and difficult times. The staff along with the owners feel like one big family to me. The Beeches isn’t as big as some care homes but sometimes big isn’t always best. It’s a truly lovely place, with a wonderful warm atmosphere, like a home from home and nothing is too much trouble for the amazing and caring team of staff and the homes owners. A big thumbs up from me.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.129)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.129) out of 10 for The Beeches is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.254 for The Beeches is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.254
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Beeches is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2014

I joined The Beeches Care Home and started as a Carer Assistant. It was here that the Manager and Provider asked me if I would like to complete an NVQ Level 3 and begin a Senior Carer role. I completed my NVQ Level 3 in May 2015 and carried out the Senior Carer role until 2016. In 2018, I was afforded the opportunity to become a Head of Care, a role that assists the Manager in the governance of the home. I then went off for maternity leave in August 2018, and after giving birth to my daughter, I was able to bring her to work to introduce her to all of the residents as I feel the residents are my extended family.

In March 2022, Kirkland's Care Ltd became the new provider of the home. Since they have become the providers they have put so much effort, time and training into the home, and have given so much support to all the staff, ensuring they feel confident in any task they undertake. They have been the best company I have worked for regarding training and career progression, they are approachable and friendly, and they can see the potential in you. They have recently enrolled me to complete my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and offered me the position of Home Manager.

Choosing care as my career is the best decision I have made and I look forward to ensuring a person-centred approach to all the staff and residents. Now I am looking forward to achieving my goal of delivering an outstanding service to The Beeches Care Home…my home from home.

To pay it forward, I would love to support and inspire anyone who chooses a career in care as it’s been an extremely rewarding achievement in my life, and the best thing I ever did.

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2021

I started my career in care as a Health Care Assistant and have progressed and worked my way up through the Health and Social Care Industry, working across many services such as mental health, learning disability, children's services and dementia nursing, reaching the position of Area Manager.

In 2021, I joined Kirklands Care as their Operations Manager, overseeing all of their care homes. Kirklands Care is a family-run business that shares my own beliefs about care and that the residents' care is of utmost priority, and this, for me, comes first. My love of spending time with the residents shines through my work, hearing their stories and having the ability to make a difference in their lives. Every resident I care for is treated how I would expect my family member to be cared for, which for me is with love, dignity and respect. My role allows me to work with families to take the pressure off whilst allowing them to feel their loved one is in a suitable environment, is safe and cared for.
