9.3 St Joseph's Residential Care Home has a Review Score of 9.3 (9.304)

The Review Score of 9.3 (maximum of 10) for St Joseph's Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for St Joseph's Residential Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.711 for St Joseph's Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (60 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.711

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.593 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Joseph's Residential Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 11.8 positive Reviews (59 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 7 Reviews ÷ 11.8 Target = 0.593

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

I have two parents at St Joseph's Residential Care Home. No matter what time of day I visit, I find them to be looking good and having so much dignity than they did in the last few months of independent living. The atmosphere is always jolly and appropriate. The staff are exceptional at their jobs, I don't think they realise how good they are. The managers are always available and approachable. I would have no hesitation in recommending St Joseph's Residential Care Home.

Our precious parents both were in St Josephs for more than 12 months. During that time it was a pleasure for us, as a family, to visit them and see that they were well nourished, clean, happy and felt to be part of a family.

We visited so many care homes and at times were so upset at the level of care. St Josephs was the perfect home from home. I honestly, and my siblings agree, that my parents thrived under the constant care of the great team at St Joseph's.

St Joseph's managers and staff welcomed my mother with Alzheimers after a very difficult start when she vigorously opposed admission. She has been made to feel a valued member of the wing. Staff have actively encouraged and supported a range of activities. She has had several external visits which she has enjoyed. She is respected and treated as an individual and supported to attend daily mass which is very important to her. Staff initiate and maintain good contact in person and by phone with family.

I cannot thank the staff at St Joseph's Residential Care Home enough for their kindness and warmth they have shown to my aunt and all family members throughout her transition from hospital to her new care setting her beautiful new home. The time and care the staff have taken from my first enquiry at the office, the hospital assessment visit and during the transition has been quite remarkable. Thank you all. I shall look forward to visiting my aunt here!

My parents have been made happy and secure in this lovely care home. The genuinely caring staff made St Joseph's seem like a home rather than an institution. Particular care is taken to provide morning activities to stimulate waning mental faculties and the food has the quality at home - cooked nourishment. The rooms ar comfortable and warm in every sense.

We find our friend to be well cared for in an atmosphere of love and compassion. The staff on Jade Unit are always tolerant and patient. Our friend is always well dressed, clean, hair tidy and even nails are manicured and polished! She told us recently that she is happy there. This shows that she is comfortable and at ease. We notice that she is treated with respect and dignity. Her spiritual needs are recognised and because there is a chapel in the area she is able to attend the daily service if she wishes. There is overall a happy Christian atmosphere.
