Clarendon Manor offers the finest care in the heart of Whitnash, a vibrant and sought after village.

Located within easy reach of pubs, shops, bus routes and village amenities, Clarendon Manor has been recently extended and refurbished with more day space, a conservatory and seven new bedrooms with their own terrace.

The home offers a large lounge that is used for group recreation activities and two smaller, more cosy lounges often used as retreats for residents who wish to relax. A spacious dining room overlooks the well tended rear gardens through patio windows.

The home has many single rooms and each bedroom is tastefully decorated, often complemented by furniture and pictures brought in by residents, making a true home for the residents.

Residents are offered a choice of menu every day, which is created by an experienced chef who places emphasis on home-cooked cuisine and using local produce. The home is happy to listen to residents suggestions and try more exotic foods or non-English dishes. Special diets can also be catered for.

My mum arrived at the home in February, I was worried she wouldn't like it but to my surprise, she settled in straight away. The staff have made her most welcome, nothing is too much trouble. Whenever I visit, she is happy and seems content, chats away to the other residents, even joins in the odd activity.
All in all, she is happy and relaxed and I know she is being looked after with care and compassion.

Welcoming greeting on arrival. Until dementia took hold, cinema, outings and newspapers were enjoyed. Lately, towards the end, care and compassion were to the forefront in the minds of the staff.

My mother recently arrived at Clarendon Manor. She instantly felt calm and loved her room. She felt safe/cosey. A little patio area to the garden was just perfect for her. Within 30 minutes of arriving, took herself off to the dayroom and was participating in the games. A lot of staff had introduced
themselves to her. The energy of everyone was happy/homely. My mother was vegetarian, all her needs were catered for. She appears very comfortable/clean and relaxed. She has severe Alzheimer's. I know she is well looked after and safe.

Very caring and friendly staff. All the residents seem happy and look well cared for.
It would be nice to have a tea/coffee machine for visitors as I always have to take water with me. Care homes are very warm places! This would complete the welcome feeling (happy to pay for drinks)!

My aunt had great care and although she was ill and understood little of current affairs she was looked after by caring staff and we always felt she was safe and comfortable.

My Father went into Clarendon Manor in August 2014 at the age of 97. It took him only a very short time to settle, and he thoroughly enjoyed the care provided. He was very impressed with every aspect, the care from the staff, the comfort and standard of his room and especially the catering arrangements.
He thought the Chef was just marvellous and so accommodating. For nearly 4 years, at every visit we made, he would repeat his mantra, "You found me a really good place here".
When he was 100, The Manager organized a fantastic celebration for him, it really was amazing. Due to the wonderful care he received, he almost reached the age of 102, but sadly died in June 2018. In the weeks leading up to his death, he was quite ill but the staff were superb and cared for him wonderfully right up to the very end. I have nothing but the highest praise for all concerned, from the manager to the carers, the kitchen staff and the cleaners too. To all, I extend my sincerest thanks.

My mother has been resident at Clarendon Manor now for 2 and a half years.
The establishment is not the most modern or the most high-tech but the care provided is excellent and my mother is treated with respect and compassion by staff. Her room is clean and she is well fed.


Unfortunately, she is

My father, who is now 101, has been a resident for four years.
My family and I, are thrilled that Dad is there.
They have taken extremely good care of him, looked after him with enormous sensitivity and loving care.
My father now has dementia but every time we visit he tells us how happy he is to
be there and how lucky he is.
The staff are brilliant and so caring.
I recommend this home to anyone.
Your loved ones will be safe and cared for here. Well fed, warm and extremely well looked after.

This review relates to the first-month settling-in experience for my father who is nearly 97 and suffers from dementia.
I was impressed on the initial fact-finding visit by the calm and caring atmosphere and this has been reinforced on each subsequent visit.
The staff carry out a demanding workload
professionally; they are quick to act on any issues we raise and they are equally diligent in raising with my wife and I any issues or concerns they have as they get to know my father. My father has settled in well and we concur that the catering arrangements are exceptional.

When at first my mother had to be cared for properly, this was the best choice. At first, it was like going to a new school, where nobody knew you!

During my wife's stay at Clarendon Manor the staff were both attentive and extremely caring. They had a huge workload and carried it out extremely professionally and with warm enthusiasm. I visited daily and was treated with courtesy and had all my questions answered without delay. I was able to take
my wife out regularly and there was no difficulty in arranging or cancelling meals as appropriate. Every effort was made to help me with my requests. My wife's room was colourfully furnished and homely in appearance. The other residents were friendly even though she did not often feel like joining them in the TV room. The medication was administered efficiently and the laundry well looked after. There were one or two areas where I felt that changes might be made but I appreciate that there would be funding and staffing implications in most, if not all cases. The room heating needed to be regulated, it was rather hot and opening windows did not prove to be a satisfactory solution. Occupational activity on a more varied and frequent basis, over and above watching TV, would be welcome as a stimulus. During her time there my wife spent much time sleeping and stimulus only came from visitors. On occasions, visitors had to wait a fair time at the door to be admitted or released. Clarendon Manor is a spic and span home and to be highly recommended as a kind environment for the elderly in need of care.

My brother received wonderful care during his time at Clarendon House. He was very happy in his final months. The staff were very caring towards him and very understanding of both his health needs and his dementia.


We were always welcomed to visit at any time and the surroundings were very warm and

home-like.
In my brother's final hours alive the staff were very supportive, and when he passed away, they were compassionate.

For up to four months the wife was in there, the standard of care was excellent. The only issue I had was her falling out of bed until we supplied our own hospital bed which had rails. The staff found it a lot better.

My Mother was a resident at Clarendon Manor from April 2015 until July 2016, when sadly she passed away. When she entered the home she was approximately in the middle stage of Alzheimer's disease. I am only too happy to recommend this home to anyone considering a place for their relative to live. The
home is extremely welcoming. For the resident, it is a real home from home. The staff are friendly and approachable. Clean/bright rooms. The few concerns that I had were always dealt with promptly. My Mother was always treated with dignity and care and she was looked after very well indeed. Excellent home cooked food. Thanks to the chef and assistants.!
Although my mother had dementia upon entering the home, her understanding of situations was quite limited, but speaking on her behalf I am sure she was happy with Clarendon Manor. There was always a cheery face to greet you at whatever time you visited. Thanks to everyone at Clarendon Manor for looking after our Mum, a really lovely Care home.

My mother was a resident at the home, from April 2015 to July 2016.
Before becoming part of the Clarendon family myself and sister visited so many care homes and fell in love with the Clarendon Manor Care Home. The manager and all of the staff were fantastic from mums first day to her last. The food
is always fresh, home cooked, and to a very high standard.
After a few months I felt that I had to put pen to paper and wrote a letter of compliment to the Quality Care Commission in Newcastle. (I was not in any way requested to do this). Upon our visits, we were always offered tea or coffee and made to feel so welcome.
The Clarendon is a wonderful establishment, well run with very caring staff, and I would certainly be prepared to recommend this home to anyone. I speak as I find and will complain as required. But this was unnecessary.
