My mum was a resident at Clarendon Manor for two and a half years. Throughout that time, she received excellent care. The staff and management were friendly and professional. My mum was happy and relaxed. Her room was light and spacious, with a lovely bay window and ensuite facilities. A huge thank you is sent from our family to such a lovely home.

Reply from Heath Tredell, Managing Director at Clarendon Manor Ltd

Thank you very much for your thoughtful review. The staff do get informed about them and love positive feedback. I can see you have only rated 4 out of 5 stars for activities, if you have any suggestions of activities we could encourage, please speak to Jo (the manager) as she delights in making things even better. Once again, thank you very much.

The team are pushed to provide the service you would want your friend or relative to receive. Food is left for them to eat as there is no time to assist individuals with meals. Clothing goes missing in the central laundry. Long period of time left on their own in rooms.

Reply from Jo-Anne Smith, Care Manager at Clarendon Manor Ltd

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of your loved one and that the week-long stay he had with us was not to your satisfaction. Whilst some residents enjoy meals in the communal dining areas, others prefer to privately dine in the privacy of their own rooms. If you have any specific complaints...

Very caring, taking time to chat with residents and taking time to ask what they did when they were younger, also laughing with them.

My mum arrived at the home in February, I was worried she wouldn't like it but to my surprise, she settled in straight away. The staff have made her most welcome, nothing is too much trouble. Whenever I visit, she is happy and seems content, chats away to the other residents, even joins in the odd activity. All in all, she is happy and relaxed and I know she is being looked after with care and compassion.

Welcoming greeting on arrival. Until dementia took hold, cinema, outings and newspapers were enjoyed. Lately, towards the end, care and compassion were to the forefront in the minds of the staff.

My mother recently arrived at Clarendon Manor. She instantly felt calm and loved her room. She felt safe/cosey. A little patio area to the garden was just perfect for her. Within 30 minutes of arriving, took herself off to the dayroom and was participating in the games. A lot of staff had introduced themselves to her. The energy of everyone was happy/homely. My mother was vegetarian, all her needs were catered for. She appears very comfortable/clean and relaxed. She has severe Alzheimer's. I know she is well looked after and safe.

Reply from Heath Tredell, Managing Director at Clarendon Manor Ltd

Thank you Pamela for your kind review. I am so glad to hear that her arrival at the home went well, they say that first impressions last and this is indeed a very important part of the move into a care home. We always try to prove the very best care we can and improve things, any suggestions you have are always welcome. Once again many thanks.

Very caring and friendly staff. All the residents seem happy and look well cared for.

It would be nice to have a tea/coffee machine for visitors as I always have to take water with me. Care homes are very warm places! This would complete the welcome feeling (happy to pay for drinks)!

Reply from Heath Tredell, Managing Director at Clarendon Manor Ltd

Michael thank you very much for your suggestion. I have spoken with the Manager about your suggestion and she asked me to thank you for your insight. She will consider different options and find a way so that all visitors are offered drinks.

My aunt had great care and although she was ill and understood little of current affairs she was looked after by caring staff and we always felt she was safe and comfortable.

Reply from Heath Tredell, Managing Director at Clarendon Manor Ltd

Mark thank you very much for leaving a review. We find that people often mistake a large reception desk and chandeliers for good care, your comments helps others find out about the care we give. All comments, positive or negative are passed onto the team responsible and the staff at the home will be delighted you recognise the effort they put into the care they give. Once again thank you.

Overall Experience
My Father went into Clarendon Manor in August 2014 at the age of 97. It took him only a very short time to settle, and he thoroughly enjoyed the care provided. He was very impressed with every aspect, the care from the staff, the comfort and standard of his room and especially the catering arrangements. He thought the Chef was just marvellous and so accommodating. For nearly 4 years, at every visit we made, he would repeat his mantra, "You found me a really good place here".

When he was 100, The Manager organized a fantastic celebration for him, it really was amazing. Due to the wonderful care he received, he almost reached the age of 102, but sadly died in June 2018. In the weeks leading up to his death, he was quite ill but the staff were superb and cared for him wonderfully right up to the very end. I have nothing but the highest praise for all concerned, from the manager to the carers, the kitchen staff and the cleaners too. To all, I extend my sincerest thanks.

Reply from Heath Tredell, Managing Director at Clarendon Manor Ltd

Thank you David for your kind words. I have the highest admiration for the good work our care team does and are very proud of them. From the people who look after the garden right up to the manager, the team provides the very best care it can and it is testament to them that you have taken the time to comment on it. Thank you very much.

My mother has been resident at Clarendon Manor now for 2 and a half years.

The establishment is not the most modern or the most high-tech but the care provided is excellent and my mother is treated with respect and compassion by staff. Her room is clean and she is well fed.

Unfortunately, she is reluctant to engage in any activities despite encouragement from staff.

My father, who is now 101, has been a resident for four years.
My family and I, are thrilled that Dad is there.
They have taken extremely good care of him, looked after him with enormous sensitivity and loving care.
My father now has dementia but every time we visit he tells us how happy he is to be there and how lucky he is.
The staff are brilliant and so caring.
I recommend this home to anyone.

Your loved ones will be safe and cared for here. Well fed, warm and extremely well looked after.

This review relates to the first-month settling-in experience for my father who is nearly 97 and suffers from dementia.
I was impressed on the initial fact-finding visit by the calm and caring atmosphere and this has been reinforced on each subsequent visit.
The staff carry out a demanding workload professionally; they are quick to act on any issues we raise and they are equally diligent in raising with my wife and I any issues or concerns they have as they get to know my father. My father has settled in well and we concur that the catering arrangements are exceptional.

Overall a very positive experience.

When at first my mother had to be cared for properly, this was the best choice. At first, it was like going to a new school, where nobody knew you!

Now she is settled and enjoys it, only thanks to all the staff; from the cleaner, chef and the main manager.

Overall Experience

During my wife's stay at Clarendon Manor the staff were both attentive and extremely caring. They had a huge workload and carried it out extremely professionally and with warm enthusiasm. I visited daily and was treated with courtesy and had all my questions answered without delay. I was able to take my wife out regularly and there was no difficulty in arranging or cancelling meals as appropriate. Every effort was made to help me with my requests. My wife's room was colourfully furnished and homely in appearance. The other residents were friendly even though she did not often feel like joining them in the TV room. The medication was administered efficiently and the laundry well looked after. There were one or two areas where I felt that changes might be made but I appreciate that there would be funding and staffing implications in most, if not all cases. The room heating needed to be regulated, it was rather hot and opening windows did not prove to be a satisfactory solution. Occupational activity on a more varied and frequent basis, over and above watching TV, would be welcome as a stimulus. During her time there my wife spent much time sleeping and stimulus only came from visitors. On occasions, visitors had to wait a fair time at the door to be admitted or released. Clarendon Manor is a spic and span home and to be highly recommended as a kind environment for the elderly in need of care.

My brother received wonderful care during his time at Clarendon House. He was very happy in his final months. The staff were very caring towards him and very understanding of both his health needs and his dementia.

We were always welcomed to visit at any time and the surroundings were very warm and home-like.

In my brother's final hours alive the staff were very supportive, and when he passed away, they were compassionate.

My Mother was a resident at Clarendon Manor from April 2015 until July 2016, when sadly she passed away. When she entered the home she was approximately in the middle stage of Alzheimer's disease. I am only too happy to recommend this home to anyone considering a place for their relative to live. The home is extremely welcoming. For the resident, it is a real home from home. The staff are friendly and approachable. Clean/bright rooms. The few concerns that I had were always dealt with promptly. My Mother was always treated with dignity and care and she was looked after very well indeed. Excellent home cooked food. Thanks to the chef and assistants.!

Although my mother had dementia upon entering the home, her understanding of situations was quite limited, but speaking on her behalf I am sure she was happy with Clarendon Manor. There was always a cheery face to greet you at whatever time you visited. Thanks to everyone at Clarendon Manor for looking after our Mum, a really lovely Care home.
