The policy of the home is not to force our mother to do anything against her wishes. This includes bathing, sitting at a table to eat, to see a podiatrist, her feet are in terrible condition giving her great pain.
Her clothes, all taped frequently, go missing. The laundry department is very disorganised.
She
is incontinent and needs a constant supply of clean underwear.
Sometimes she wears none!
Whilst the staff are very kind but understaffed. She needs more supervision and assistance. Often she will go to bed fully dressed but wet! She can be a difficult woman and hard to deal with. Surely that is what a dementia home specialises in. The residents need more stimulation, more than a television blaring out.

I am extremely satisfied with the service, personal care and support my mum receives from the staff and carers at Long Meadow. My mum has been a resident for nearly 12 months. The care, dignity, social activities she has is constantly outstanding.

My mum is very happy and content and this is brilliant

to see. She has vascular dementia and Alzheimer's and needs to have constant care. The staff and carers make sure she is cared for. They do this meeting her individual needs they are professional and look after her as though she was their mum! Lovely, thank you!

My Aunty is the third member of my family to reside at Long Meadow (Maternal Grandfather, Paternal Grandmother, Maternal Aunt) and we've always been welcomed in a friendly manner and all residents are treated with respect and there always appears to be someone on hand to deal with any issues that arise.

I visit the resident approximately once a month and always find the staff most helpful, usually at a weekend when less staff there.
The resident is always well presented and happy.
I have never had any problems with my reception there and feel this resident, in early stages of dementia, and is very
well looked after now for over 2 1/2 years.

Overall we are quite pleased with the care mum receives. The previous manager was very good although a bit lacking in some areas when he wasn't there. Since his long absence, the new management has continued well. Some of the care staff could do a bit better and I think constant supervision should be
in the lounges. I have been in there for over an hour sometimes and not seen anyone and had to look for a staff member for a resident, it is always worse at weekends.

I have always found the staff helpful and friendly. Despite the difficult job which they do, most seem to keep a smile on their faces.

They are always ready to answer any questions. The office staff were very helpful in providing a letter that a building society required.

It is good to know

that Dad is in a safe, caring place, where the staff do all they can to achieve this.

Just over a year ago my mother had to be admitted to a care home due to her declining mental health. She had virtually stopped eating and was paranoid, delusional and unhappy and she definitely didn't want to live in a care home.

After a lot of searching and disappointments, we found Long Meadow.

It is not a new slick type building but the way my mother is treated more than makes up for that. She is treated with dignity, care and love, her room is lovely the view is great with both a well-kept garden and a lovely country view (the local steam trains even go past!). The words 'care' and 'home' definitely apply here.

In herself my mother is very happy to be there, she absolutely loves all the staff who in turn seem to try hard to look after her. She is far more aware than she was at home and I often feel lifted after a visit.

The issues and problems that inevitably come up are usually handled very well with consideration for both me and my mother.

I really can't thank the staff enough.

Long Meadow is a welcoming happy care home with well trained, sympathetic, very caring staff who are always approachable and communicative. My mother has been a resident for nearly 18 months and I have only ever seen her treated with care, dignity and respect. The staff interact wonderfully with her
and she with them. She has a lovely room overlooking the extensive gardens and has been very happy here. There is a lovely atmosphere between staff and in the home generally. Mum is lucky to be here!

The atmosphere of Long Meadow is always loving and caring. The residents are treated as individuals with their own life stories. My mother lived there for over two years before her death this year and the kindness and professionalism of the staff were always outstanding. Long Meadow helped to make my
mother's final years happy, safe and comfortable for which I will always be grateful.

My nana lived at Long Meadow for seven years. She had dementia and was cared for wonderfully by the staff. When nana was put into end of life care all the staff looked after both nana and all my family who stayed by her bedside for the last five days of her life. We could not have been made to feel
more welcome and at home. I have nothing but praise for everyone at Long Meadow, it's very clear that everyone there loves their job and cares immensely about the residents.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.810)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.810) out of 10 for Long Meadow is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.478 for Long Meadow is calculated as follows: ( (36 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4.478
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.332 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Long Meadow is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.2 = 0.732
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
