Lowgate Nursing Home

from Pat M (Friend of Resident) published on 29 January 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Our family friend has been loving at Lowgate for almost two months and we have been very happy with the way he is cared for and the happy relationships between all the different members of staff and the residents as well as the general family atmosphere. Our friend is bed ridden and suffering from late
stage dementia but the view of the gardens from his window means he is able to make a connection with the outside world and the wildlife in the trees and on the lawns. The location of Lowgate, so close to Hexham, yet in the countryside, suits really well. Thank you to everyone.

Since Mum was admitted in July 2024 she has been cared for by an amazing team of staff from carers, caterers, & cleanders. They all know her needs & likes and treat her like family. I feel reassured at all times that she is safe and happy & well fed. She enjoys being able to walk about the various facilities
& rooms (lounge, dining room, conservatory or her room, freely).

Rosemount Care Home

from Susan C (Daughter of Resident) published on 26 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Since the introduction of a new manager Rosemount has significantly improved and continues to make changes for the better.
The home is currently fully staffed and my mother is treated well and with dignity by all. I am reassured she receives the appropriate care and support.
She enjoys the food
and has put much needed weight on recently.
The activity staff are also excellent and encourage all residents to join in. There were many fun activities over the xmas period.
Communication with relatives is good, the manager has an open door policy and I am confident that any issues will be sorted out as soon as possible. The monthly relatives meetings are very useful and new Admin staff has improved communication via emails and social media.
Overall Rosemount Care Home has a bright and happy atmosphere and deserves the 'Good' CQC rating recently awarded.
Reply from Norma Chennells, Home Manager at Rosemount Care HomeThank you for the positive feedback and I will pass your comments to the team. The feedback is much appreicated.

Rosemount is a wonderful care home that feels warm and homely, made by the caring and kind staff. Moving my dad into a care home, due to his increasing needs was an emotional wrench for our family. However, Norma and ehr team have been so supportive of my dad and us as a family that the transition has
been as smooth as possible. The staff are caring and attentive. They work so hard to create a home from environment. The food is top notch and the activities are engaging and fun. I could not recommend Rosemount highly enough!
Reply from Sandra Ward, Operations Director at Rosemount Care HomeThank you so much for your heart-warming review of your experience of the care your dad is receiving in Rosemount. We are so pleased he has settled in well and feels at home and enjoying the activities. The catering team work extremely hard to provide high quality nutritious meals and liase with the residents for choice and preferences. We will ensure your thanks are passed to the staff team.

My father was in Dolphin View for two and a half years, he was very well cared for and always appeared happy. During his first year in Dolphin View there were many changes in staff and management which was concerning but now with the new manager there is an altogether calmer atmosphere in place.

This is a lovely care centre: the staff are wonderful people. They all seem to love their jobs - it's a vocation. They show care, understanding, empathy and love.
Nothing is a trouble to any of them, and everyone makes eye contact when talking to you. They smile and are happy as they go about their
routines. It is a cheery, clean, and welcoming abode for anyone who needs it.
The staff pay constant attention to all clients, visitors and family.
Reply from Charlotte Shiels, Manager at South Quay Care HomeThese are such nice words about the staff. I will pass on your comments and I really appreciate the positive feedback and I know the staff will be thankful to you for your lovely words. Your mum was cared for for a short time but the staff still thought of her very highly

Thanks to all the staff at Dolphin View Care Home for taking care of my lovely Aunty for the last 12 years. The caring roles you do are so important in society as not all relatives live near enough to look after their family members. You have all treated and cared for my Aunty wonderfully, with professionalism
and compassion. At the end of her life you were there for her and ensured she died peacefully and pain free. For this our family have peace of mind and eternal gratitude, can't thank you enough and will never forget you all.

Dad arrived following a long stay in hospital after a fracture of his hip. Standards of care in hospital were poor and Dad suffered from this and made no real recovery. His care in Dolphin view is so different and positive. Staff are purposeful and helpful and have been very proactive in procuring appropriate
medical provision for Dad, to keep him comfortable. Dad is now in end of life care & funded. I would recommend Dophin View and all members of staff who have been very professional in their approach to Dad.

I am absolutely over the moon with the care my dad gets and cant believe how quickly he has settled in the staff are super friendly and seems like nothing is a bother no matter how big or small they are always on hand and they keep us well informed about his care and his needs it was the best decision
we ever made and it has enabled me to relax it has also took an unreal amount of pressure off our family knowing he is happy here
Reply from Charlotte Shiels, Manager at South Quay Care HomeIt is a pleasure to have him here. From the day he arrived dancing in the building at our Halloween party I knew he was going to settle and be one of the South Quay family very quickly. I will pass your comments on to the team.

Since my husband moved to Primrose Lodge in October this year I have found all the staff friendly and helpful. The carers all act swiftly to any issues, as do the nursing staff. All measures for his comfort and safety have been put in place swiftly. The fact that my husband is looking better than on
admittance is proof to me that he is being assisted with his eating and drinking. As I do not know what activities he can take part in I cannot comment. The management act to any queries I have. On the value for money I am unable to comment. We appreciate all their efforts.

My dad has been at this home for nearly a year now and overall it has been a good year. There have been a lot of changes over this year, and now Dad is on a unit men only and dedicated, regular staff which we feel is good for Dad and makes him feel secure. The staff make sure that Dad has his little
things around him, his bowls of sweets/crisps, his own water/coffee cups, and his muslin cloths around his neck. We feel Dad is safe and well cared for, and that the staff genuinely care about him.
Reply from Dale Summersby, Home Manager at Primrose Lodge Care HomeThank you for your kind feedback K N. I'm really happy that the changes we have made, have had a positive impact on your Dad's experience. Ill make sure I pass this feedback on to the team.

My dad has been in Primrose for a year now. Overall I am happy with the care my dad receives. The staff on the unit always make sure my dad has his favourite things to hand, they are caring and really seem to care about my dad. Everyone from domestic, carers, nursing staff all seem to care, they often
pop up to see Dad. Room always clean and tidy. Staff on his unit do a fantastic job. Management should be really proud of them and the work they do - credit to you - more staff needed.

As a family we cannot express how amazing the staff at this care home are.
Our relative has been cared for amazingly over the last couple of years. At times she could be a very difficult to care for, she was a force to be reckoned with, but the staff always treated her with care, respect and love.
The word home here is perfect because that is what it became a home full of people whom cared dearly for her.
Her care in the last days of her life was also above and beyond they kept us updated at all time and the nursing staff at the end made sure she passed peacefully with dignity and her family around her.
Thank you all we will never forget the care.

Delighted with the care my brother who is physically disabled but very alert has received at Dolphin View
It is a Nursing Home of course - so the doctor comes and liaises closely with nurses, but it is also his home and he feels relaxed, happy and most of all, 'at home' in Dolphin View, so I do not
feel that it is overmedicalised. The staff are both capable and friendly
The home is clean and does not smell
There have been changes in the managers in recent months, but I have not detected any deterioration in the care given to my brother at all and the current managerial team seem very good
My brother gets an excellent chiropodist in the home, his preadmission hairdresser visits (but there is also a resident hairdresser if he needed), his friends visit to play him chess and he can order whatever he wants from a bookshop or supermarket online. Lastly he gets his papers delivered. He seems very happy in Dolphin View
