Since my husband moved to Primrose Lodge in October this year I have found all the staff friendly and helpful. The carers all act swiftly to any issues, as do the nursing staff. All measures for his comfort and safety have been put in place swiftly. The fact that my husband is looking better than on admittance is proof to me that he is being assisted with his eating and drinking. As I do not know what activities he can take part in I cannot comment. The management act to any queries I have. On the value for money I am unable to comment. We appreciate all their efforts.

My dad has been at this home for nearly a year now and overall it has been a good year. There have been a lot of changes over this year, and now Dad is on a unit men only and dedicated, regular staff which we feel is good for Dad and makes him feel secure. The staff make sure that Dad has his little things around him, his bowls of sweets/crisps, his own water/coffee cups, and his muslin cloths around his neck. We feel Dad is safe and well cared for, and that the staff genuinely care about him.

Reply from Dale Summersby, Home Manager at Primrose Lodge Care Home

Thank you for your kind feedback K N. I'm really happy that the changes we have made, have had a positive impact on your Dad's experience. Ill make sure I pass this feedback on to the team.

My dad has been in Primrose for a year now. Overall I am happy with the care my dad receives. The staff on the unit always make sure my dad has his favourite things to hand, they are caring and really seem to care about my dad. Everyone from domestic, carers, nursing staff all seem to care, they often pop up to see Dad. Room always clean and tidy. Staff on his unit do a fantastic job. Management should be really proud of them and the work they do - credit to you - more staff needed.

Primrose has been a Godsend for Elsie. The staff are a tribute to the home, and they give Elsie the best of attention. Without the home, Elsie's life would have been a disaster. So thanks to the professionals, her life is fulfilling. All I can say is thank you.

We needed 3 weeks respite care for my uncle as my aunty was going in to hospital. My uncle was well looked after and quite happy in Primrose Lodge. Management arranged for extra equipment to be sourced that my uncle needed. The food was amazing and my uncle gained a little, much-needed, weight during his stay. The staff were fantastic, treated him with care and were so friendly. We highly recommend this care home.

Care home is exactly what Primrose Lodge is! It feel like a home, where understanding and consideration is natural and effortless. The care given is genuine and tangible, but also done with fun and vibrancy where appropriate. I am so happy my dad is at Primrose Lodge, because he is happy there!

We were extremely happy with the care my father-in-law received. Although only there a short while, the care was so supportive of both parents and family. Nothing was ever a problem, so friendly and efficient.

My Dad was only at Primrose Lodge Care Home for 1 week in April 2024. He was receiving end-of-life care. We were very pleased with his stay there. The staff no only looked after Dad they also looked after us, his family. We could not thank them enough for their kindness.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful while my brother was in respite I could not fault them. I feel the home could do with a bit of an update his toilet in his room was not very pleasant and also the shower room had things hanging off and did not seem very clean.

My mother has recently settled into Primrose Lodge and I wanted to thank every single member of staff for making her feel so welcome and safe. Every day she says how nice everyone is and how happy and safe she feels. Seeing her feel so content is wonderful and I know this is down to the wonderful staff.

Overall the care levels provided by the permanent staff are good. However, the food served is repetitive and limited and the menu could be improved, especially if a particular diet is required. The residence is safe, secure and cleaned every day.

Shocked at the state of the care home when visiting a relative.
The toilet seat is broken, the bed is in disrepair and soiled incontinence pads left lying around the room (under the bed etc).
The TV wasn’t working and there was no there means of interaction or entertainment, my relative was just left lying on the bed.
My relative had no shoes, slippers, socks or spectacles, we were told these were misplaced.

I would not recommend this care home.

My mam stayed here as she was unable to stay in her own home. She recently passed away, the care she received was excellent, the staff were very friendly and very passionate towards the care they provided to the residents, and always referred to the residents by their name, Staff always had time to chat and answer any queries you may have. The home was clean and tidy. They have regular events for the residents which my mam enjoyed joining in. Will miss the staff as they were like family.

My mother was discharged here from hospital with no notice to family and little notice to the care home. Despite the worry of not being able to see the care home beforehand, myself, sister and my nephew are extremely pleased my mother is receiving. Mum has mixed dementia and unable to walk or barely sit up. She is happy, staff know her and she is is cared for the way she wants to be despite her limited abilities. We could not be happier with the care.

Despite the very sad situation of mum now needing nursing care, we know she is clean, comfortable, good skin integrity and she is not eating too well, but they ensure she is eating food she loves mainly puds.

My husband went into Primrose Lodge care home on the 21st of February 2020. All the staff made him and our family most welcome. It was unfortunate that after only 3 weeks lockdown came. My husband wasn't eating very well so I was able for a week to go and help feed him, he has dementia and is bed bound. After that, all was locked down but with the care from the staff and their love, he started to eat again. So at this stage, he is doing well, it is hard for all of us not to visit and the staff do their best to keep us on board. Always let us know what is going on.

My mum was only here for four weeks. I cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness and compassion during this time. Mum received the best care and staff always had time for her and for us. Nothing was too much trouble. They held hers and our hands right to the end and beyond and for that we are extremely grateful.
