Ashlea Court is situated on Church Lane in the heart of Waltham Village, All Saints Church situated just down the lane provides residents with a monthly religious service within the home along with communion, if residents wish to partake.

There are well established links with the community and many events are held at the home that local people get involved with. The range of activities available includes quiz nights, pamper sessions, gardening, baking, aerobic exercise, trips to the pub, walks around the village, card games, dominoes and many more.

Residents are encouraged to be as independent and active as they are able to be and to retain interests and hobbies. Ashlea Court is open to suggestions about new activities and actively encourages everyone to come forward with any suggestions or ways in which the service can be improved, during regular committee meetings.

The home has its own minibus, which is used to take residents on outings, the favourites being Cleethorpes for an ice-cream or fish and chips on the sea front or to the local garden centre for a coffee and a chat.

Ashlea Court has 43 rooms spread over two floors. Garden rooms are situated on the ground floor in an extended part of the building. They are very spacious and have a good size en-suite as well as their own patio area.

Standard rooms on the ground and first floor have an en-suite and some of these rooms have an enhanced view on to Waltham allotments and surrounding areas.

On the first floor there are three recently refurbished suites which comprise of a sitting room, bedroom, small kitchenette and en-suite.

The hairdresser visits weekly on a Friday and the chiropodist visits regularly to keep on top of residents' footcare.

My brother was initially admitted for short term respite care in May 2024, but it became rapidly apparent that this must be permanent. Despite best efforts from Staff (and myself) he has since been totally Bedfast, and couldn't tolerate being moved into a chair even for the shortest of times. Staff
care has always been friendly and efficient and understanding of his demands, and his calls for assistance have been rapidly answered.

My sister seems really happy and settled at the home
Staff always seems friendly towards her and always are free to answer any queries we have

Without a Care Home my mother wouldn't be here today! We chose Ashlea Court after a short stay in respite care there and has been there now for 2 years as of this month! The staff are friendly and are approachable with any concerns. Relationships have been built up between the care team my mum and myself
which allows me to feel that she is in the best place for her current care requirements. Thank you to all the Ashlea team.

Generally a good and caring atmosphere in the home. The majority of staff seem helpful, patient and sympathetic to residents needs. I appreciate how busy the home is, but I'm not so keen on Mum being put in her night clothes too early.

Mum was taken into Ashlea Court for palliative care in August 2024. At first, it was difficult for us to visit Mum in a care home environment however, the lady in the office always takes time to ask family members how they are and reassures us. If there is something you need to address, the managers
are good at meeting and talking through concerns. The seniors who are extremely busy keep you well-informed on the care of loved ones. There are some excellent care staff who go above and beyond to support Mum. The kitchen staff are helpful with food and drink needs.

We were visiting a neighbour who has recently moved into Ashlea Court and was impressed by the home, no nasty smells and the staff were wonderfully caring for the ladies and gentlemen that are living there. Thoroughly recommend.

I found that the management and staff are all fabulous. Care home beautiful, clean and well looked after. The residents are all loved and so well looked after and have everything that they need from personal care to live entertainment.

Just an update on my views of the nursing home, all I can say it's been the best thing for my mum and myself, I couldn't have coped with my mum living with me if these guys hadn't been on my doorstep, they are always happy and greet you with a "good morning".
She loves going and they can't do enough
for her, I myself had cancer two years ago, and they were amazing with me and her.
Can't thank the staff enough they all deserve medals.

Ashlea Court is a lovely care home. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food is very good. All the staff are very caring, friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are very supportive of family.

My mother is currently a resident in Ashlea Court, and although I am only a visitor. I find the staff very helpful and friendly. The staff always find time to speak to me and keep me updated on how my mother is progressing with her physio etc after her stroke.
I feel all the staff treat my mother
with respect and dignity which you do not find in other care homes, and this is a big plus point for Ashlea Court.
Furthermore, I feel a special thanks should go to the manager of Ashlea Court, and all of her staff who are a credit to this care home.

The following issues would improve things:
No wi-fi for residents (I used to video call him every day with living away). He could also have watched the sports channels.
Old fashioned buzzer system is annoying.
Always short-staffed so residents waiting for attention when buzzed.
Early days, laundry
situation made us have to buy more clothes - fine now.
However, I can't fault the end-of-life- care he's receiving now and the support given to the family.

I have been involved with a long-term resident at Ashlea Court for eight years. This resident lived at Ashlea Court following a hospital stay when it was agreed by authorities that she could no longer live and care for herself in her own home. During the last twelve months, she mellowed but could still
be sharp with the patient, loving, kind staff and carers. Their understanding, practices and humour were required in abundance. Every member of Ashlea Court staff became her ‘family’ in the absence of family visitors. They made her world worthwhile and happy. Staff held her hands, they hugged her, they spoke to her with affection and respect. The staff at Ashlea Court looked after me and other visitors in the final days, making the end of life care a little easier to manage. All requests were met with a smile and ‘can do!’ My thanks to each and every one of you.

Every time that I visited my husband he was always clean, warm and comfortable. He liked the staff who were very friendly and caring. He enjoyed the singing which was also good for his lung condition. His family were all relieved at the secure door entry system. His room was peaceful and he loved the
view which was second to none! All his family felt so grateful that he spent his last days in secure, peaceful comfort.

I came in to visit my grandparents who had recently moved into Ashlea Court and what a pleasant surprise I got! My grandfather who had been previously struggling at home looked so well and full of life, he seemed really happy and commented on how well he is feeling, how good the food was and that the
staff are lovely.
My grandmother also had nothing but positive things to say, also commenting on how good the staff are and that she feels she can ask them anything, she enjoys the daily activities and I have seen evidence of the Easter pictures the residents made. I also witnessed first had the domino's club that my grandmother and the other residents have started. It was lovely to see both my grandparents so happy.

My mum has been at Ashlea Court Care Home since June 2022. I find the care home very clean and the staff are absolutely wonderful. My mum is a difficult resident but they show her lots of time and understanding, she doesn’t like being there but tells me the staff are fabulous. Thanks to all.

My mum is in her late 80s and has mild Alzheimers. We have recently introduced her to daily respite visits, hoping to build up to overnight respite care. She is fiercely independent and does not like mixing with other people, but the staff were so welcoming and caring that she felt special and enjoyed
taking part in the regular activities, which included dominoes, cards, skittles and bingo.
She has been encouraged to make friends, and we are amazed to see this other more sociable side of her. It's lovely to see her laughing and interacting with other residents and the staff, so much so that she has readily agreed to a weekend respite visit of three nights. This is all down to the manager and staff at Ashlea Court and their genuine warmth and delicate handling of her character.
Ashlea Court is spotlessly clean, well presented and has a lovely atmosphere on arrival.

We had to seek urgent out-of-hours admission and made the phone call on a Sunday evening. From the moment that we took our family member into Ashlea Court, we knew we had made the right choice of urgent respite care for him. The staff on duty at the time were so caring, kind, and very reassuring at
a very traumatic time for the family, and he was looked after immediately and was settled into his room.
We returned the following day and met the day staff and the manager and were so impressed by their dedication, genuine kindness, skills and supportive reassurances to ourselves in what was totally new world to us.
Ashlea Court is a lovely place with genuine warmth and a caring atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff or the manager. Things that seemed so stressful to us were dealt with in a calm and comforting manner, and all the staff are obviously very experienced and skilled in their field. They have all taken so much pressure off us; we are very grateful.

My Mum became a resident at Ashlea Court very recently but I already feel very confident to write a review. From the minute Mum walked in she was made to feel extremely welcome, Mum was very anxious but all the staff are wonderful and she settled in quickly and has a lovely little room that is kept
clean and tidy. She tells me that the food is excellent and plentiful. There are regular activities going on and she can have her hair done weekly. Whatever time of the day I turn up the staff are upbeat. Always smiling and seem to know what Mum has been up to. I also feel strongly that the staff care about the residents' families as well. Upon leaving one day last week I was told to enjoy my weekend and not to worry about a thing - just what I needed! All in all a very caring care home.
