We have been very happy with the care and compassion given to our nephew! He was immediately welcomed into the "family" and made the transition easy after the death of his mother! He has downs syndrome and is nonverbal, but they managed to achieve his every need, with numerous activities and made him feel important! They kept us up to date with his care and gave him so much love! I would highly recommend this care home!!

Wonderful afternoon at Ashlea Court. Very welcoming environment. Staff and residents were lovely and friendly. Entertainment was a choir and cake afternoon, and my father in law really enjoyed the atmosphere and hospitality.

Well done everyone x

Our mum has been at Ashlea Court for over a year and very settled. This is a miracle as mum has mild Alzheimer's and can be stubborn and difficult. The staff look after mum really well and there is always a positive reassuring atmosphere when we visit. Mum has made a few buddies and joins in the many activities. Overall knowing mum is well looked after and safe is priceless. We recently joined the 'Ashlea Court friends and relatives' group on social media and it's heartwarming seeing the lovely photos of the residents.

Reply from Bethany Akines, Deputy manager at Ashlea Court

My brother was initially admitted for short term respite care in May 2024, but it became rapidly apparent that this must be permanent. Despite best efforts from Staff (and myself) he has since been totally Bedfast, and couldn't tolerate being moved into a chair even for the shortest of times. Staff care has always been friendly and efficient and understanding of his demands, and his calls for assistance have been rapidly answered.

Without a Care Home my mother wouldn't be here today! We chose Ashlea Court after a short stay in respite care there and has been there now for 2 years as of this month! The staff are friendly and are approachable with any concerns. Relationships have been built up between the care team my mum and myself which allows me to feel that she is in the best place for her current care requirements. Thank you to all the Ashlea team.

Generally a good and caring atmosphere in the home. The majority of staff seem helpful, patient and sympathetic to residents needs. I appreciate how busy the home is, but I'm not so keen on Mum being put in her night clothes too early.

Mum was taken into Ashlea Court for palliative care in August 2024. At first, it was difficult for us to visit Mum in a care home environment however, the lady in the office always takes time to ask family members how they are and reassures us. If there is something you need to address, the managers are good at meeting and talking through concerns. The seniors who are extremely busy keep you well-informed on the care of loved ones. There are some excellent care staff who go above and beyond to support Mum. The kitchen staff are helpful with food and drink needs.

Just an update on my views of the nursing home, all I can say it's been the best thing for my mum and myself, I couldn't have coped with my mum living with me if these guys hadn't been on my doorstep, they are always happy and greet you with a "good morning".
She loves going and they can't do enough for her, I myself had cancer two years ago, and they were amazing with me and her.

Can't thank the staff enough they all deserve medals.

My mother is currently a resident in Ashlea Court, and although I am only a visitor. I find the staff very helpful and friendly. The staff always find time to speak to me and keep me updated on how my mother is progressing with her physio etc after her stroke.
I feel all the staff treat my mother with respect and dignity which you do not find in other care homes, and this is a big plus point for Ashlea Court.

Furthermore, I feel a special thanks should go to the manager of Ashlea Court, and all of her staff who are a credit to this care home.

The following issues would improve things:
No wi-fi for residents (I used to video call him every day with living away). He could also have watched the sports channels.
Old fashioned buzzer system is annoying.
Always short-staffed so residents waiting for attention when buzzed.
Early days, laundry situation made us have to buy more clothes - fine now.

However, I can't fault the end-of-life- care he's receiving now and the support given to the family.

I have been involved with a long-term resident at Ashlea Court for eight years. This resident lived at Ashlea Court following a hospital stay when it was agreed by authorities that she could no longer live and care for herself in her own home. During the last twelve months, she mellowed but could still be sharp with the patient, loving, kind staff and carers. Their understanding, practices and humour were required in abundance. Every member of Ashlea Court staff became her ‘family’ in the absence of family visitors. They made her world worthwhile and happy. Staff held her hands, they hugged her, they spoke to her with affection and respect. The staff at Ashlea Court looked after me and other visitors in the final days, making the end of life care a little easier to manage. All requests were met with a smile and ‘can do!’ My thanks to each and every one of you.

Every time that I visited my husband he was always clean, warm and comfortable. He liked the staff who were very friendly and caring. He enjoyed the singing which was also good for his lung condition. His family were all relieved at the secure door entry system. His room was peaceful and he loved the view which was second to none! All his family felt so grateful that he spent his last days in secure, peaceful comfort.

I came in to visit my grandparents who had recently moved into Ashlea Court and what a pleasant surprise I got! My grandfather who had been previously struggling at home looked so well and full of life, he seemed really happy and commented on how well he is feeling, how good the food was and that the staff are lovely.

My grandmother also had nothing but positive things to say, also commenting on how good the staff are and that she feels she can ask them anything, she enjoys the daily activities and I have seen evidence of the Easter pictures the residents made. I also witnessed first had the domino's club that my grandmother and the other residents have started. It was lovely to see both my grandparents so happy.
