Rosemount Care Home in Whitley Bay offers purpose-built accommodation for up to 60 residents. The home's team of experienced and supportive staff has a genuine desire to provide the best care possible to each individual.

Each bedroom has ensuite facilities and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms to make them feel more at home. Residents' families are involved as much as possible in their care to ensure they receive the right care and according to their wishes.

The home's head chef provides nutritionally balanced home-cooked meals based on residents' dietary requirements, likes and dislikes.

All the staff are caring, patient, friendly and professional, knowledgeable and appropriate attentive to the needs of my relative. My relative is non verbal but it is clear she feels loved by her care team and that assures me that the above observation of staff is genuine and continuous even outside
of my visits. There have been improvements to the building maintenance but I do feel that budget for staffing is more important.

The family & I feel there is a great improvement in the care & appearance of Rosemount in the last six months. The manager is very dedicated and caring, who has raised the level of the home since she arrived. The care & domestic staff are very professional and standards have definitely improved.

The home has improved considerably since the introduction of a new manager last year! As I see on a daily basis, staff are clearly committed to doing the best job they can. They are always respectful and genuinely caring. All staff, including nurses, carers, kitchen and cleaners work hard and provide
very good support. I feel reassured that my wife is in safe hands.

I couldn't thank the staff enough for how they have welcomed and cared for my grandpa since he was admitted, the 2 months he spent in hospital I could see he was going downhill, spending his days in bed and not really eating.
But since being at the home he has come back to life and I have the staff
and manager to thank for this.
He seems so much brighter and happier, I was expecting this process to be stressful for both grandpa and our family, but it has been so easy and smooth again thanks to the manager and her staff, could not recommend this home enough.

A really big difference in the care home from the day the manager took over. Really approachable, open and honest, her and her team have worked really hard to improve things for residents. When she says she will do something it's done and is working very hard to achieve better for the home. Has recently
been taken over and things are definitely moving in the right direction.

Since the introduction of a new manager this year, there has been a significant improvement in the overall running of Rosemount Care Home. The manager is caring, friendly and if there are any issues I can raise them and I am confident they will be addressed quickly, Staff are very good, helpful and
treat my mother with dignity. Entertainment staff are excellent. Brighter, more homely communal areas after recent redecoration. Mom enjoys the food and activities.

Absolutely shocking from day one! My father was left soaking wet for over 2 hours (with him pressing his buzzer) and only given a towel to dry himself from staff.
I went later on with my mum and pushed the buzzer and was told the staff "were on their way". My father requested I stayed during this change
and the staff would not allow us to. We waited closely to his room for over 30 minutes. We went back into his room and he stated that the staff searched vigorously through all his belongings we had just brought in, eying up all the designer t-shirts he had.
We visited again the next day and my father was not at all himself, he was shaking erratically. It was like he was given too much medication. One day later, we got a phone call to say he had sadly passed away.
Tonight we went back to the home to collect his belongings and we were greeted by a very poorly resident who should not have been at the door unattended. There were no staff visible at all.
Think twice about this home.

My dad was in Rosemount for 5 months. Some of the carers were lovely with him, some weren't. One in particular complained when my dad pressed his buzzer for assistance. He was unable to do anything for himself. His bedroom didn't look clean. Dirty dishes being left often for more than 24 hours.
He
spent the final months having nursing care. He was so weak, unable to press his buzzer. He would shout when he needed assistance. A carer closed his door so no one could hear him shouting. The buzzer was also placed out of his reach many times.
My dad's final weeks were very upsetting. I visited and he was dirty. I had to ask for him to be cleaned. I dread to think how long he'd have been left if I hadn't gone in.
There were safeguarding concerns raised by a healthcare professional about dad's care. I'm unsure of the outcome and my dad has recently passed away.
Rosemount hasn't initiated any contact since my dad passed away. No condolences offered by management.

Manager and staff all very kind. Glad my mam is safe and happy. The room is big enough for her needs. Only complaint is the drinks trolley coming around and some staff not knowing how to make basic cupper coffee!

Over 18 months my family member was at Rosemount, we were never satisfied with her care. Her room was dark, dingy and more often than not extremely smelly. We did complain but things never improved. According to her contract with the home she was supposed to have a chair provided, so she spent many
hours sitting on a commode even to eat her meals until we organised a chair for her. Her last few weeks she had been moved to nursing care but we saw no change in her care. We tried to speak to the nurse in charge (but they were always in meetings). The day before she passed away she was taken to hospital, not even to be accompanied by a member of staff until a family member could get there. Hospital staff were appalled by her condition dirty and dehydrated. The management of Rosemount needs to be ashamed of the way this lady spent the last days of her life.

Main concern is the extensive use of agency staff. This often appears to lead to miscommunication and delay.

I find the staff/carers extremely kind and very caring. They were extremely good with my mother, who came here but sadly passed. The staff have been wonderful with my dad. I honestly can't fault them.

My husband was a resident at Rosemount Care Home for several months and I cannot begin to express my gratitude to the staff for the care administered in trying times. I understand that staffing can be an issue, but they pulled together and provided him with the best care and kindness and for that I

I would not recommend that anyone send a relative to this place. My mum was here for a while and we were so pleased to be able to get her out. The rooms were dark and dingy and were not kept properly clean, my mum was always sitting on her own in dirty clothes and one time I found her still in bed at
11.30 am with dirty clothes lying on top of her. Only one member of staff would engage with me when I asked questions, the others would literally run away and a woman, who I assume was the home manager, was very rude to me when I waited to speak to her. The staff did not actively come to speak to me to let me know how my mum was doing or settling in. The residents seem to be sitting in the day room most of the time in front of a very small TV, with little or no engagement with staff. Unbelievably, when my sister went to visit my mum one day and found her in the day room with one of carers fast asleep. When she woke up, she did not care that she had been caught sleeping on the job!
