My mum went to South Bebside on respite over a 18 months ago. It was quite clear she needed help for more than a few weeks. She's made it her new home. The staff are brilliant and have all been there a long time. I think this shows how happy the staff are to be there. They care for mum so well. Nothing
is too much trouble: the meals are amazing. She even gets served breakfast in bed. It's like a 5*hotel and that's exactly where she thinks she's living..

My brother, 56, moved into Lowgate Nursing Home, struggling with motor neurone disease. The staff at Lowgate are fantastic. I cannot praise them highly enough. From the cleaners, care staff, kitchen staff, office staff, to event/activity staff. They were incredibly kind to my brother and looked after
him brilliantly.

I have just finished my two weeks respite at South Quay Carehome and I was appalled by the service provided. I am a C3/C4 spinal patient and I required some respite and one incident while I was there caused me to suffer an AD due to lack of due diligence. Another thing I would like to state was the
lack of information about my condition was passed onto the members of staff so did not know how to provide the correct care that I require I.E moving and handling I needed but they all tried their best with instructions from myself. The bed care was atrocious, the menu was mostly cafe style food which included pastries and puddings was not ideal for a diabetic.
All in all a let down. I was offered another week due to the room I was in being free still but however I would not stay there again. My advice stay clear.

My Mam was a resident at South Quay for just under 4 years.
Her room wasn't very big but more than adequate for her needs.
As her illness progressed and she stopped recognising family she always had a big smile for the staff who we found to be friendly and approachable.
When the end came everyone
was so kind and the dignity shown to Mam was much appreciated.
Thank you

Our family friend has been loving at Lowgate for almost two months and we have been very happy with the way he is cared for and the happy relationships between all the different members of staff and the residents as well as the general family atmosphere. Our friend is bed ridden and suffering from late
stage dementia but the view of the gardens from his window means he is able to make a connection with the outside world and the wildlife in the trees and on the lawns. The location of Lowgate, so close to Hexham, yet in the countryside, suits really well. Thank you to everyone.

Since Mum was admitted in July 2024 she has been cared for by an amazing team of staff from carers, caterers, & cleanders. They all know her needs & likes and treat her like family. I feel reassured at all times that she is safe and happy & well fed. She enjoys being able to walk about the various facilities
& rooms (lounge, dining room, conservatory or her room, freely).

My father was in Dolphin View for two and a half years, he was very well cared for and always appeared happy. During his first year in Dolphin View there were many changes in staff and management which was concerning but now with the new manager there is an altogether calmer atmosphere in place.

This is a lovely care centre: the staff are wonderful people. They all seem to love their jobs - it's a vocation. They show care, understanding, empathy and love.
Nothing is a trouble to any of them, and everyone makes eye contact when talking to you. They smile and are happy as they go about their
routines. It is a cheery, clean, and welcoming abode for anyone who needs it.
The staff pay constant attention to all clients, visitors and family.
Reply from Charlotte Shiels, Manager at South Quay Care HomeThese are such nice words about the staff. Thanks to all the staff at Dolphin View Care Home for taking care of my lovely Aunty for the last 12 years. The caring roles you do are so important in society as not all relatives live near enough to look after their family members. You have all treated and cared for my Aunty wonderfully, with professionalism
and compassion. At the end of her life you were there for her and ensured she died peacefully and pain free. For this our family have peace of mind and eternal gratitude, can't thank you enough and will never forget you all.

Dad arrived following a long stay in hospital after a fracture of his hip. Standards of care in hospital were poor and Dad suffered from this and made no real recovery. His care in Dolphin view is so different and positive. Staff are purposeful and helpful and have been very proactive in procuring appropriate
medical provision for Dad, to keep him comfortable. Dad is now in end of life care & funded. I would recommend Dophin View and all members of staff who have been very professional in their approach to Dad.

Father became resident and has settled really well. Carers and staff are exceptional and encourage him to be involved in all aspects and activities. Our family are so greatfull for the care they give him and would highly recommend this facility to anybody thinking of trusting their loved ones to South
Quay.

I am absolutely over the moon with the care my dad gets and cant believe how quickly he has settled in the staff are super friendly and seems like nothing is a bother no matter how big or small they are always on hand and they keep us well informed about his care and his needs it was the best decision
we ever made and it has enabled me to relax it has also took an unreal amount of pressure off our family knowing he is happy here
Reply from Charlotte Shiels, Manager at South Quay Care HomeIt is a pleasure to have him here. From the day he arrived dancing in the building at our Halloween party I knew he was going to settle and be one of the South Quay family very quickly. I will pass your comments on to the team.

Delighted with the care my brother who is physically disabled but very alert has received at Dolphin View
It is a Nursing Home of course - so the doctor comes and liaises closely with nurses, but it is also his home and he feels relaxed, happy and most of all, 'at home' in Dolphin View, so I do not
feel that it is overmedicalised. The staff are both capable and friendly
The home is clean and does not smell
There have been changes in the managers in recent months, but I have not detected any deterioration in the care given to my brother at all and the current managerial team seem very good
My brother gets an excellent chiropodist in the home, his preadmission hairdresser visits (but there is also a resident hairdresser if he needed), his friends visit to play him chess and he can order whatever he wants from a bookshop or supermarket online. Lastly he gets his papers delivered. He seems very happy in Dolphin View

My brother David moved to Dolphin View on 2nd July. He has type 1 insulin dependant which could not be managed at home even with nurses going in to administer insulin and check blood glucose. On May 19th the nurse found him in a non responsive state, and administered emergency treatment an ambulance
was called. He was in hospital(Cramlington & Wansbeck) till being discharged to Dolphin View. David does not understand diabetes or symptoms of hypos/hypers there for needing nursing care. The staff on the whole are friendly and helpful. My brother says that the staff are nice, and he enjoys the meals and he is happy, and that is the important thing to me my brother is safe nurses keep checking blood sugars and intervene when they get low/high. The caring staff also help him with personal care. I have had little experience of care homes, but no care home is perfect. I would like to thank everyone for looking after David and keeping him safe.

Mam Mam lived in this home from April 2023 until she passed away at the end of September. I always found it friendly and inviting. The staff were great and took time to get to know Mam and understand what she liked and didn't like. There was always something going on which she loved. The place was
always clean and warm and there was never any bad smells which i worried about before she went in. There was a sense of family in the home which i found comforting and i am confident she was always well cared for, valued and safe.
Reply from Charlotte Shiels, Manager at South Quay Care HomeThank you for your kind words. We miss your mum. She was part of the South Quay family, and she will always have a place with us here. I will pass your comments on to the staff.
