My mam came to South Bebside Care Home 1st May 2025 for respite with the view to long term/ permanent.I was very undecided whether to do this but I've never looked back, the staff are fabulous, rooms very spacious, lovely lounge/ dayroom and very pleasant family conservatory. The meals are lovely and
plentiful and lots if choice.Mam is a very private person who doesn't mix but she is joining in, going in day trips, hairdresser and nails painted every week.Im over the moon with my decision as all staff are very approachable very friendly and go that extra mile to help.

South Bebside is very homely with a lovely atmosphere , the management and the staff can't be more helpful and are very friendly , they treat the residents like their own family with respect and dignity , there are always great activities going on and some residents go on an outing every week making
it a special day for them , they help the residents to engage with each other to make them all feel welcome , when you walk in you get a warm friendly atmosphere and I just can't fault it or the care my relative received from the brink of death from one care home to back on her feet to go to her own home , it's just a wonderful place to stay and if you ask other residents they will say they are very happy there , if you do get a place here consider yourself very lucky , it's the best home in Blyth in my eyes , you can go anytime of the day and the standard of care never changes , it's a fabulous home 10 out of 10 .

The staff are very friendly and helpful. My husband was ony in for a short while as he was very poorly and not expected to live much longer. The staff kept me informed every day and telephoned when I wasn't there. My husband's room was very basic but was perfect for his needs. They were decorating everywhere
while he was in there so looked very clean and fresh there seemed to be a lot of activities on but my husband couldn't get out of bed but they opened windows so he could hear the singing. Sorry can't comment on the food as he didn't really eat before he went in there. Thank you to all the staff they do an amazing jo.

My mum moved into South Quay just before Easter having been diagnosed with terminal cancer in February. We kept mum at home as long as we could but there came a point when we had to accept we couldn't provide the care she needed. It was with trepidation that I first went it to have a look around. I
always believed we would be able to look after Mum and it was really difficult to hand her care over to strangers. Right from the start the staff were so warm and welcoming and mum hit it off with several staff and she felt happy to be there. The staff were amazing, always accommodating to mum and to us when we visited. Mum made friends with staff and residents and we visited every day. As mum deteriorated the staff stepped up and were just amazing. I have always felt they genuinely care for their residents and they treated my mum with the utmost respect right up to and after she passed away. I can not thank them enough for their care and kindness throughout her time with them

Reply from Vicki Rees, Regional Operations Manager at South Quay Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to complete a care home review. It is hard decision to move a loved one into a care home and entrusting the care of a loved one into the hands of strangers. The staff strive to make a difference daily to all residents in the home and it was a pleasure and an honour for the staff to give care and support to you mum during her final journey. I will pass on your kind comments to the staff team.

My stepdad was in there for respite. All the staff were so lovely with him. They made sure he was engaging in all the activities and they were always smiling and happy with all the residents. The manageress was so lovely to deal with, nothing ever a problem. It was clean and homely and it didn't matter
what time of day you went, you were welcomed and all the residents were happy. This home is definitely an 11/10 for sure.

Lovely feel as soon as you enter. Staff are friendly and clearly care. It is a partnership between the team and family but the staff retain accountability. I am happy my mum is safe and happy. Always same thing going on for the residents and families to share. Serious when it needs to be but fun and
enjoyable otherwise. Great place need to keep improving the food for my mam's taste otherwise amazing.

Reply from Sandra Ward, Director of Operations at South Quay Care Home

We are so pleased you are happy with the care your mum is receiving and that the staff are working in partnership with you as well as the other families/ visitors. It is a home from home environment and as you say always has an abundance of activities for residents and families to enjoy. Whilst we try to cater for all needs and complete food surveys for residents preference. I will pass on your comments to the manager in respect to your mums preference and request the cook visits your mum to discuss this whilst you are in the home. We will pass all feedback on to the manager and staff and thank you for taking the time to complete the form.

My mam was moved here from the palliative care unit a WANSBECK hospital but sadly was only at South Quay home for 4 weeks before she passed away. Mam was looked after by the manager and staff and nothing was to much bother for them and they were very friendly towards mam and my family . They attended
to every need of her with kindness and dignity and went beyond the call of duty to look after her in her last days and kept us informed of everything. We appreciate everything that you did for her to make her last few weeks as comfortable as possible.

Cousin stayed here for several months, visited her several times & always found the care given exceptional, staff very friendly & showed genuine care to both residents & visitors. Entrance hall welcoming & displaying numerous activities some of which relatives were welcome to attend, security for
visitors was spot on, meals were home cooked & looked both delicious & nutritional with a good choice of menu. Overall a very caring friendly place to live cannot praise the staff enough for the way my relatives looked after

Dolphin View Care Home

from L R (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

Most of the staff and carers seem kind and considerate. There have been three managers in a space of five months! The food seems plentiful. The rooms are basic and dated, however families are allowed to make their relatives room more personal. More communication would be good as to what residents are
up to. My mother suffers with dementia and so does not remember anything to tell us on visits. Surprised to learn that wheelchairs are not proved, and so we had to purchase one. As a relative to a resident we do not have any other experience of care homes but really thought on a whole Dolphin View would be better than we have experienced. However we are extremely grateful for all the staff do. Thank you.

Reply from Vicki Rees, Regional Operations Manager at Dolphin View Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. I am sorry to hear that you feel the rooms are dated and that you have experienced poor communication whilst your mother has been in the home. The home is currently being supported daily whilst a new manager is recruited. At this time the home is developing a monthly newsletter for residents & families that include involvement in daily activities, the home has activities boards that display events & activities in the home. Residents with restricted mobility are assessed by the NHS Physio and Occ Health Team to review if a wheelchair is required, this would then be provided by Wheelchair services specific to the person's needs. For H&S reasons we do not supply generic wheelchairs in the home therefore if Occ Health do not feel a wheelchair is required it is the responsibility of the individual or family to provide. If you would like to discuss anything further please contact Dolphin View to arrange a suitable date and time to meet.

Mum came into this home a year past September 2024. We have found the care home to be very caring. The staff look after residents well whilst still allowing their dignity. We have had some days where mum has been upset when we are visiting. This is about the situation she is in noting to do with the
home. When she gets upset we also get upset. The staff are really good with us also, and they reassure us.

Excellent admin support - very good to my bother and to me. Excellent handyman - put up his picture, TV set etc. Excellent and very caring, capable nurses giving him all the care my brother needed to be readmitted to hospital frequently, now that he gets the right care he has remained well. His room
is small but he has a view and there is a day room close by. One of the nurses ironed on all his name tags. The cook made him a lovely omelette when he did not find the menu tempting.

Dolphin View Care Home

from Debbie W (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

Unfortunately, my experience wasn't particularly good. My dad was admitted to Dolphin View on the 14th of June 2024 after suffering a stroke in April and he needed a nursing home. I went and visited Dolphin View on the 12th of June. I met with the manager who was very nice and staff. I went to have
a look around and pass on mine and my sister's contact details so that if we needed as I live close by I could be there asap. However, the manager didn't enter our contact details to my dad's file. As a consequence of these actions my dad passed away on the 10th of July without any of his daughters being there to say goodbye. The police came to my door at 6am that morning to inform me that my dad had passed away. I did have a meeting with someone from head office regarding this. I believe the manager has since resigned from her post. I do believe there are new measures in place. I really hope so as I would hate anyone to go through this experience.

Reply from Sandra Ward, Operations Director at Dolphin View Care Home

Following receipt of the complaint, Roseberry Care completed a full investigation into the concerns raised, Senior Management met with the complainant, and apologised for the breakdown in communication at the home level. Lessons had been learnt and the process was updated on admission into the home. As per Roseberry's complaint policy, a formal written outcome of findings and an apology letter were sent to the daughter.
