The Evergreens Care Centre is a recently refurbished, medium-sized, 43-bedded Care Home, located in the quiet residential area of Forest Hall, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The ground floor, named by the residents at The Cypress Suite, has 17 bedrooms. It is senior carer-led and is dedicated to supporting those with residential care needs.

The first floor, named by the residents as Redwood, has 26 bedrooms. It is nurse-led and is dedicated to supporting those with both nursing and residential care needs.

The home delivers high standards of person-centred care for all residents and prides on working in partnership with residents and their families to ensure that life at The Evergreens is tailored to meet and wishes of the individual.

In March 2019, the CQC inspected The Evergreens and found the service to be Good in all areas.

Each room has en-suite facilities and the home has a number of communal rooms, including an activities room/salon, and a quiet room.

The large gardens offer ample outside space with seating areas for residents and families to enjoy during the summer months, or indeed at any time.

An activities coordinator is dedicated to the social engagement and personal fulfilment of the residents. There is a variety of social activity opportunities on both an individual and group level, and have a mini bus, which enables residents to get out and about and enjoy life outside of the care home environment.

Very friendly, caring, always looking out for patients best interests.
Manager will listen and address any concerns you may have.
Staff always available to help.
Food is reasonable portions and choice. Always extra if needed, chef always happy to accommodate other choices.

Very friendly staff, all appear to be professional and excellent at their jobs. I feel my father is in safe and reliable hands, he is kept clean and tidy and I believe he is being treated with care, dignity and respect.

My father has been in the care home for approximately 6 months. The staff there are absolutely amazing, nothing is too much of a problem for them. I see how they genuinely care for my father and are kind, considerate and passionate about their roles. I cannot thank staff enough and feel secure and

I will do my best to express the gratitude and praise for the level of care given to, most importantly my father in law and to us as family and friends during what has been an emotional and exhausting time.
My father in law is currently receiving end of life care on the nursing floor.
He has been
in the care of Evergreens for 10 weeks.
EVERY member of the team from management to nursing staff to carers to chef to cleaning and admin staff have been outstanding. The testimony to this is my father in laws reaction every time a staff member makes themselves known to him in his room. He simply beams and always attempts to say hello.
They know us, his family, by first name. Even when staff members are scheduled to work downstairs they have been popping in to check on him during the last stages of his care.
Our well being as been a central part of his care too.


I've also heard and witnessed great care and interaction with all residents. Up and downstairs. So genuine, respectful and happy.

I have nothing but praise for this care home, having had a bad experience in a previous respite placement, the team at evergreens i can't fault at all, they've worked with us and my dad to get him back to where his health and wellbeing should be after months of hospital stays and moving to unfamiliar
places, as a person who works in the emergency services and in care I was hesident to place my dad in care but I have no issues at all with the staff or home, his needs are met and he's happy, his dementia is looked after and as a new resident it takes time to get to know someone's moods, personality etc, but the team have got him spot on. It's the little things the team do with regards to support towards family and my dad, which make his time in care better.

My Mam has been in Evergreens since February 2022. Her move there wasn't planned but circumstances dictated she couldn't stay at home. It hasn't been an easy journey to get her settled but we've had good support from the staff and manager.


The staff definitely know my Mams needs which are at times

challenging but they deal with it well and in a very caring manner.


I feel confident my Mam is getting looked after well and feel quite confident to bring up issues as I feel necessary. I am told regularly my Mam is 'resident of day' and is there anything I want added to the careplan however I rarely do as these issues are usually dealt with when I raise them anyway.


The staff also get to know family members and are very friendly to us as a family.


There have been times when I've needed to escalate things which I have done by contacting the manager direct. I do this with confidence knowing he will deal with it and its always sorted quickly.

My experience and that of my aunt has been nothing but positive. My aunt is supported to be as independent as she can - when this at times has fluctuated then staff have changed that support to match her needs. I am kept informed of any changes to my aunt's presentation immediately so I feel reassured
about her being in a care home - also she sees Evergreens as her home where she has friends and she sees the staff as friends too. I feel fortunate that she is somewhere she feels happy.

My friend took a while to settle at first,but she loves it there now. She trys to join in some of the activities and loves joining in singing. I live in Wales and love visiting my Granma. She is very precious and I am pleased she is happy and well looked after in Evergreens.

A lovely family atmosphere over the Christmas Holidays. This was the first Christmas we couldn't bring Mam out. Residents enjoyed the decorations, music, activities, and the 'no secco' to make things feel festive.
The care as usual is first class, the staff looked after Mam physically but also mentally
making Mam laugh.

My mother has been a resident at Evergreens since December 2023 and I'm delighted with the care she receives and can't recommend the home highly enough. All the staff I've met are wonderful - very caring, friendly and professional and always cheerful and welcoming - nothing is ever too much trouble.
The two activities coordinators always ensure a wide variety of regular activities are available and encourage residents to get involved, and the catering staff do a fantastic job providing good home-cooked meals - Mum has regained her appetite and put on weight since she arrived.
It's reassuring to know she's safe and being well looked after, and has plenty of company and things to do if and when she wants.
The home itself has a lovely 'family' feel, the bedrooms are clean and comfortable and the extensive garden is a big plus, especially in the summer.

My gran has been in The Evergreens Care Centre for a few months now and I can't say a bad word about the staff. Even if anything has gone wrong, the manager listens and responds quickly to resolve things. My family are made to feel welcome and never feel like we can't ask questions. Nothing is too much
bother. The home is always clean and smells clean too. It is homely and has a friendly atmosphere. Most importantly of all, Gran is happy and looks well and it's easy to see she is well cared for and the staff actually care about what they are doing and have a lot of pride. It's so reassuring for me and Mum to know that Gran is in good hands. Thank you so much to you all.

I am the daughter of a resident and happy to use this care home we had our mam in 3 years ago. Now the family have had no choice but to put Dad in this care home after his discharge from hospital was full-time care. The staff are amazing and Dad is well looked after and is settling in nicely, knowing
he is in a safe place and well looked after. Keep up the good work to all the staff. They work really hard to make our relatives comfortable and happy, great to see some of the staff still there from when we were last there.

We as a family have used this home in the past for my mother in her dying days and everybody involved in this home was totally professional in the care they showed back in 2019. Recently we sorted care for my father and again I contacted Evergreen through a senior member of the nursing staff. The lady
was so helpful and guided me through the process to make the transfer of my parent from hospital into nursing care simple, relieving the family of a lot of the stress involved. Since my parent has been in the home, the care shown has been exceptional from all members of staff involved in this home. The facilities are excellent for the residents' needs and the home is always well maintained and is always clean when entering. Never do you experience odours related to elderly care on entering due to the high level of cleanliness carried out by the staff. I want to thank all the members of management and staff for the continuous support shown and I cannot praise them enough for the care they give Dad.

My dad has had a challenging life with his health over the last 3 years, where the family has looked after him and this year he's got worse with his mobility. Incontinence has been a very stressful and challenging time and dad was sent to Evergreens from the hospital. The care dad is getting is second
to none. He's getting well looked after, staff are always there when you need to speak to them and are very friendly. The home is very clean and well organised.

My Mum has been at The Evergreens since we had to make the hard decision of her requiring full-time care. Initially, she was in the residential part of the care home, and subsequently, after an illness, she moved into the first-floor nursing part of the home. Both rooms she has had have been lovely
and have everything she needs. The care she has had and is getting has been brilliant and we cannot thank all the staff enough for taking such good care of her. Nothing is ever a problem and someone is always available, should we need to talk. A very well run home with excellent staff throughout and although it was a hard decision to make at the outset, it was the right one as the care Mum gets is excellent. Thank you all.

My dad was transferred from the hospital into the Evergreen care home as he was unable to care for himself. As I live in Spain, I was concerned I would have no contact with him but the staff are so efficient they arrange FaceTime calls for me. While I was home in February, they made it easy to see him
with covid tests in place. I have come back to Spain knowing he is well looked after and in a good place.

Dad came to the Evergreens after a lengthy stay in hospital. The staff were immediately engaging and friendly, going above and beyond for Dad and he is very happy with the service. The management keep you regularly informed via text, email and phone call and nothing is a problem for them. A wonderful
