My dad was transferred from the hospital into the Evergreen care home as he was unable to care for himself. As I live in Spain, I was concerned I would have no contact with him but the staff are so efficient they arrange FaceTime calls for me. While I was home in February, they made it easy to see him with covid tests in place. I have come back to Spain knowing he is well looked after and in a good place.

Dad came to the Evergreens after a lengthy stay in hospital. The staff were immediately engaging and friendly, going above and beyond for Dad and he is very happy with the service. The management keep you regularly informed via text, email and phone call and nothing is a problem for them. A wonderful atmosphere with very happy residents. Thank you Evergreens!

My mother has been beautifully cared for. She is always clean, fresh and comfortable, as she is bedbound. The home is clean and we love the residents' doors, like their own front door with their names on.

I feel I would like to offer praise to the Cyprus suite at the Evergreens, which is the residential unit where my Mam lives. All of the staff are amazing to my Mam and I could never ask for more. I feel able to leave the home, knowing all the staff will give my Mam the best care. I can highly recommend the Evergreens to anyone looking for a home from home environment, providing the best level of care. A1 all round.

So pleased to write a review for Evergreen Care Home and their marvellous staff. I have discussed the review with my father as he also constantly sings their praises. My mother, unfortunately, is an advanced Alzheimers patient at the home. From day one we have witnessed the kindness, ‘care’ skills and genuine guardianship exhibited by all the staff. The manager is particularly meticulous and thorough in ensuring high care standards for the residents and we can honestly state that he has a fantastic team of staff who have shown Mum genuine care, compassion, attentiveness and love. A special mention for one member of staff who is happy to go the extra mile with styling/dying Mum's hair and painting her nails. Also, the lady who spends hours feeding Mum to ensure her weight is maintained at a healthy level. Mum is thriving once again since being admitted in Feb 2021 and we cannot recommend this home highly enough.

Travelled from Portsmouth to visit my Mam in October as I hadn’t seen her for over a year due to COVID restrictions and travel restrictions. My Mam had always been very content and happy in this care home for the last 3 years and even though restrictions were hard, the staff always found time to talk to us on the phone or set up face time appointments so we could keep in touch with Mam. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel valued and special and make sure that Mam was well taken care of. Our visit in October was long overdue and again the staff were so helpful, kind and caring. One nurse, in particular, made sure we were up to date with any news or how Mam was doing. It was an upsetting and emotional time as it had been so long, but to know what capable hands Mam was in made us feel so much better. Sadly, Mam passed away in January this year, but again to the very end, they sat with her and cared for her. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home.

My Mam was resident here for the last year of her life. The setting is lovely and the room was nicely decorated. The care my Mam received was exemplary. The nurses and other staff made sure she was clean, fed and comfortable. She was given additional high-calorie foods due to her condition. The kitchen staff should be proud of the part they played in helping my Mam heal. When she arrived from another care setting, she was suffering from terrible pressure sores. The nurses worked so hard to help her heal. The staff were always happy in their work and the communication was second to none. The support offered to my Dad and the whole family in the last weeks of my Mam's life was amazing. Nothing was any bother to anyone. I wish I had more words to describe my Mam's and the family's experience. I would recommend this care home to anyone. We were so lucky to find this place and I would have no hesitation in using it again if the need arose. Angels without wings!

My father was admitted into your care last August after a long spell in hospital after suffering a serious stroke. He's always been a very independent man and doesn't like people doing things for him. We lost our Mum. His wife of 52 years and it was a big upheaval for him to suddenly not be at home in his own surroundings. I'm kept up to date constantly and the staff are very helpful in setting up facetime for us, as I live in Australia, it is very hard to be so far away. I cannot fault the care my Dad is receiving and am blessed he is in such a caring environment. Nothing is too much trouble. Questions are answered quickly and professionally. Special thanks to the registered nurse.

My mother came here in March 2021 after being diagnosed with a combination of Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. She was confused at first, had numerous falls and two lengthy hospital stays prior to coming in. It was a very difficult decision to move her into a care home, made especially difficult by Covid-19, but her safety was the most important thing to her family. I researched every care home in the area before deciding on Evergreens as she is self-funded. All of the staff made the transition as smooth as possible, they genuinely care about the residents. I have had many conversations with the wonderful staff who have made me feel completely at ease, reassuring me that my mother is now safe and well cared for, even sending me photos of her actually smiling, something she hasn’t done a lot of lately. We can have two visits a week at the moment, which are very well organised, involving Covid tests and PPE. Can’t wait for the Government to ease the restrictions so more of her family can visit!

When our aunt entered the home, we were concerned as she had always been very independent, and we worried she would become lethargic and have a lack of interest. #Well, we worried needlessly; the staff are so kind and caring, supporting our aunt to be as independent as she was able to be. She has bloomed in their care - no falls (many at home!). And she loves the carers and activity worker. She has made a circle of friends and is looking better than she has in years! She always sings the praises of the staff, as do I.

Staff always contact us if necessary, and we feel very reassured she is getting the best care possible. We are very thankful!

My wife was transferred from the hospital to Evergreen in early February 2021. Naturally, I and the whole family were reticent about her welfare going into a care home we had no knowledge of. From day one, we need not of worried, the staff and associated workers couldn't have been more helpful and caring; you could tell from their body language and their proficiency that she was going to be well looked after. Nothing is too much, from reception to the paramedic nurse to the wonderful carers; they are a joy to behold. My wife unfortunately has advanced Alzheimers, I have been caring for her for approximately 9-years, and was convinced she was better off at home. Although life was tough, she is doubly incontinent, sometimes refuses to eat and drink, cannot converse etc, I still thought I could handle her condition. It was the staff at Evergreen with their tenderness, genuine feelings that have totally convinced me.

My mother-in-law is so happy here. She has dementia with Lewy bodies and when she arrived at Evergreens in July last year she was very confused and unresponsive, eating only crisps and just sleeping. The change in her now is amazing. She laughs, sings and chatters all day and has even started eating the lovely home-cooked meals provided. All the staff are so friendly and whenever we visit someone always pops in to let us know how my mother-in-law is doing, which due to her illness she is unable to communicate herself. Her room is always spotless, her clothes laundered and she is always tidy and clean. A hairdresser comes every week and we pay for her to get her hair done. The carers often paint her nails to cheer her up. My mother-in-law is self-funding but I never see any difference in any care provided to any other resident and as a family, we are so relieved that the care our loved one is receiving is so good and consistent, which in a previous home was not the case.

My mother is currently a resident at Evergreens and I’m delighted with the care she receives and cannot recommend the home highly enough.
Whenever I visit my mother I get a real sense of cheerfulness and happiness within the home. The staff are very caring, friendly and professional and my mother is treated with dignity and respect.
The bedrooms are a very good size and are clean and comfortable. At mealtimes, if I have visited I have noticed they are very nutritious and well presented.
If you are looking to choose a care home for your loved one please don’t hesitate to visit this home and see for yourselves.

Thank you to all of the staff for taking excellent care of my mother and allowing me to go home after a visit knowing that she is safe and being very well looked after.

My mam has been a resident at Evergreens since July this year. She has dementia along with other medical issues and is completely dependant on the staff for all her needs. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff. Mam is treated with courtesy, kindness and dignity and they contribute greatly to ensure this difficult time for Mam is made more bearable. Although communication can be difficult for her, I can tell by Mam's response to the staff that she appreciates what they do. The home itself is warm and welcoming and everyone has a smile for you. Mam enjoys the food and her room is clean and cosy. We as a family feel that our mam is receiving excellent care and the staff are supportive to us too. Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble for them.

Thank you

Our mum moved into The Evergreens from an assisted living facility. She has Dementia with Lewi Bodies and is now fully dependent on around the clock care.

She has improved significantly since living at The Evergreens. She is happy there, enjoys her food and is very comfortable. The carers and management offer such good support and appear to genuinely care for her. We feel confident that she is being well cared for and that she couldn’t be better placed with the condition she has. She enjoys having her hair done and although she’s unable to take part in any activities, there seem to be lots going on. When you walk in, you get a real sense of community. It’s a very happy environment.

I promised the girls I would get around to doing this so better late than never. This wonderful team have taken extremely good care of my aunty and given me and all the family peace of mind that she is in good hands. The girls are always really busy but they are busy with a smile and always have time for a kind word and nothing is ever too much trouble. It is easy to feel how passionate they are and how much they care about what they are doing.

I have read and heard others describing the home as like a family but I’d describe it more like a beating heart. The job these girls do is difficult and draining and often easy to criticise and fault but no matter how tough it gets, all I’ve ever seen from them is a real heart of gold. On behalf of our aunt and the rest of the family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you have done and for all you continue to do, day in, day out.
