A wonderful home for my mum. Excellent facilities. Staff are excellent. Nothing is too much trouble. Staff are very professional and kind. Food is excellent. A member of staff stopped my mum from choking. Another member of staff called the doctor to mum- mum ended up in hospital but was released the
next day. She had a water infection and I believe the member of staff got mum looked at, at the right time/exact time- hence she came home next day.

My mum recently moved into Regency Care Home. The management team were excellent with the move. The staff made Mum so welcome. The care team are kind and go out of their way to ensure mum was settled and comfortable. The room is very clean and Mum has an ensuite room. Mum feels at home and the staff
have become friends to mum, ensuring mum is settled and comfortable.

The staff moving residents and themselves from another care home seemed to go very smoothly. I am pleased with the room my mum has, her being bedbound, it's good that she has a view of the garden and the trees.

Having moved mum from a small homely, comfortable, friendly care home to a large open space, winged care home where the conditions are impressive, as a family, we have found its lost personal contact and interaction. The carrots are kind and conscientious, which makes a valuable contribution, seeing
the same staff and residents. Helped my mum settle well, although she has the stimulation and community feel. We believe some entertainment in a central hub would help enormously. Recently, Mum's toilet failed to flush. As there is no communal toilet in the wing, Mum had to have a commode which the deputy manager dealt with efficiently. This was due to blocked drains. I can't thank the management and staff enough for such a smooth, organised move.

We have moved from another care home to the Regency Care Home, the rooms and overall cleanliness of the Regency is far superior. The good part is that the staff have moved over too which is great since the care staff are really good with our mother and she seems really happy with the move.

Mum's care was outstanding and caring - which was all I wanted, the food and cleanliness was excellent - it's not a 5-star hotel which some places make out to be - however, it was more than adequate. A few months into Mum's care- an entertainment person started and this in my opinion made an enormous
contribution to the residents well being and mood, this made trips available and also one-to-one trips if appropriate for the resident, as well as singers on site and games etc. I hope this still happens. Mum had dementia, all the staff stood in line for Mum's funeral car and four members attended the funeral itself.

I took Mum out to see a friend today for a cuppa. Whilst out, she suddenly started leaning to the left in her wheelchair. I managed, with difficulty, to get her into the car and drove her back to the home. On arrival, I couldn't get her out of the car because she was leaning against the door. I managed
to attract the attention of one of the carers and he was an absolute star. He helped me get her out of the car, took her into the home, settled her and took her obs. He just took control of the entire situation. The paramedics were called, and he stayed with her until they arrived and looked after her. It was thought that she had had a TIA, however, she refused to go to hospital and the ambulance crew explained to the carer exactly what to do and when. I certainly would have struggled today if he had not been there.

My mum came to Queensferry Court on a short-term basis, with the possibility of it being permanent. Unfortunately, Mum deteriorated and passed away within a month. I found the staff caring, efficient and very easy to talk to.

Please let me thank you for your kind words, it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to look after such a wonderful lady. In the short time that Mum resided at Queensferry Court, our carers had built such a wonderful relationship with her, she will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

There are some very kind, conscientious carers at Queensferry Court who I would like to have named as they helped mum and me cope with her two-week stay. Their positive and valuable contributions are undermined by a system that fails to enforce standards and therefore turns a blind eye to unkind and
inefficient practices. Communication about and recorded information of the residents is inconsistent. It took some time for the fact my mum was vegetarian to be documented and observed. Despite the GP prescribing enteric-coated low-dose aspirin, it had not been sourced a week later.
When I voiced my concerns to the manager he listened for less than 5 minutes, scribbled a few things down then made excuses and left. He gave me no explanations or solutions.
We express thanks to those who truly cared for mum, and they will know who they are. The unkind, dismissive, and generally impatient attitudes which mum encountered, especially at night, should be thwarted by active management which enforces standards.

Reply from Lee Langley, Registered Manager at Regency Care Home

Thank you for your review, we are sorry that your experiences weren't what you or mum expected, we offer assurances that all the meals that were provided to mum during her stay were in fact consistent with her dietary requirements. Your meeting with the home manager was taken over by the deputy manager who continued the meeting due to the registered manager having a scheduled pre-arranged meeting. It was during this meeting with the deputy manager that we discussed what the home was doing to rectify the error made by external agencies, please accept our apologies if this wasn't communicated in a manner that thoroughly explained the process.
We would like to thank you for your kind comments, all of our residents are cared for by our experienced, trained team members, we have passed your comments on as it's always a pleasure to hear what a good job we do.

My husband has been in this nursing home for just five weeks. He went in with several health issues, which were not addressed at his last care home. He has been on medication and treatment, having had visits from the local matron and GP. The manager, nurses and carers at Queensferry Court are all excellent,
kind, caring and attentive, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. I wish I had moved him there months ago and am happy he is now being well cared for.

What a lovely care home! All the staff I have spoken to are very friendly, caring and kind. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I visited the home twice to visit a dear friend of mine who was staying there for a couple of weeks before returning home. We were a little sceptical that our friend would improve
enough to return home in the short space of 2 weeks, but she did! Somehow, with their input, our friend was fit and well enough after just 10 days, to return home with a care package. We cannot thank Queensferry Court enough for all they did for our friend. She has no family, only us, and we would not think twice about having to bring her back to this home, if ever needed. Would give more stars if we could.

My dad was taken to Queensferry Court from Derby Royal Hospital. He was recovering from a broken hip but the associated trauma had severely affected his dementia and was clearly nearing the end of his life.
He was at Queensferry for approx 2 weeks and during that time was extremely well cared for.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we were unable to visit however the level of communication and feedback that we received was excellent at all times.
I am happy that my dad was in the best possible place when he died and I would like to thank all at Queensferry Court for their all-round caring attitude.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.052)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.052) out of 10 for Regency Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.538 for Regency Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (54 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 93 Ratings = 4.538

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.514 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Regency Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.2 = 0.714

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
