My mother has been a resident at the Crown House Care Home for 2 years, and is very happy there. In the last few months the facilities have been updated and many of the 'shared areas' upgraded. The food, both quality and variety, is excellent and my mother's dietary needs are well catered for. Good leadership, visible ownership and a new emphasis on activities make it an excellent care home.
I am always cheerfully welcomed. The staff remember my name and I am always offered refreshments at the same time as my friend and are extremely pleasant. The home is always clean and tidy with lovely fresh flowers. It would definitely be a place I would be happy to live in if it was necessary. It is very safe and secure in the good wheelchair access. The view from the lounge window is lovely and over looks the market square, ideal for people watching the twice weekly markets and when the town has special visitors and events.
I chose to come to this care home to receive recuperative care following an operation having heard positive reports and visited several others in the area. I really cannot fault the care and consideration which I received. The atmosphere was very friendly. The food super. But was encouraged to join in various arranged activities. Would certainly come again.
My mother was extremely happy with her stay for several weeks over Christmas, and full of praise for Crown House Care Home. As family members, it was obvious to us that the staff were caring and efficient, and could not have been more helpful.
I am very happy with the care that my relative receives. The staff are always happy and polite and I am made to feel welcome when I visit. I have noted that the safety is good/excellent purely on the location of the lift at the top of the stairs.
My mother is very, very happy in Crown House, for a lady who said she would never move into a home, she is so much happier for it. She is very well supported and cared for by committed staff. The new owner has frequent contact with the residents and has made positive changes. The manager also does an amazing job to ensure the smooth running of the home for residents and staff alike. My mum could not be happier.
A lovely, personal, care home ideally situated in the middle of town. It's charm comes from not being an institutional new build but this means the bedrooms are a little small and there is a staircase right next to the lift. A warm atmosphere and great staff make it a home-from-home.
A regular monthly visitor for local parish Church. The residents are always happy. The staff of years standing are friendly and professional. A home from home.
All the staff members at Crown House Care Home are 100% professional to the well being of the residents, and always very friendly towards relatives. I would and have recommended Crown House to other people and possible future residents.
I regularly visit my friend/neighbour who is now a resident at Crown House. The standards of care, meals, beautiful room are all exemplary. Unlike other care homes, you feel the warmth, friendliness as soon as you go through the door. I am so impressed. I joke with the staff that should I reach a certain age, I hope to be in their care.
My mum has been a resident for over 2 years and I cannot speak highly enough about the care and kindness she has received. All the family are made welcome with a friendly smile and a cup of tea. A 3 course lunch is served in the dining room where mum sits with her friends. The food is home cooked, varied and of high quality. Coffee is served every morning in the lounge and tea and cake in the afternoon. There are various activities for the residents to enjoy. These include armchair exercises, flower arranging, quizzes and cinema nights. Special times of the year like Christmas are celebrated as well as the residents birthdays. Crown House Care Home is like a homely hotel for the elderly that can no longer live independently.
She is always positive about Crown House Care Home and feels well cared for and safe. She enjoys the food and has developed a structure to her day which suits her. She particularly likes the monthly 'cinema'.
Staff are always accommodating and friendly.
Crown House is certainly value for money and the management are present and friendly - many necessary jobs have be completed since they took over.
I have lived at Crown House Care Home for just over 2 and a 1/2 years and am very happy. I am looked after very well, the staff are very friendly and always willing to help when it is needed. We have 2 very good cooks who provided us with a 3 course lunch every day everything cooked on site. Every Sunday we have a roast lunch complete with all the trimmings. The only downside to all of this is that they make homemade cakes which are no good for the waist line!! I have a nice room and have some of my pictures from home on the walls which is lovely as well as some of my furniture. You can spend time in your room but if you want company you can go down to the lounge and there is usually someone down there to talk to. I seem to have mentioned the food rather a lot but this is really a very nice place to live so I would recommend Crown House very highly.
The transition can take time and I found it difficult but, that is just one of the areas in which all of the staff excel with their endless patience, reassurance and empathy. Now, after 18 months, I can genuinely say, this is my home and the staff and residents, my extended family.
My mum has been part of the Crown House family for about 18 months. This is my first experience of a loved one being in a home and I have to say I am amazed at how good care for the elderly can be. From what my friends say, this is not typical. It feels far more homely, it doesn't feel like a clinical/hospital environment, no smell, the staff are genuinely caring and the food is excellent. Mum at 86 is more mobile than some other residents so the town centre location is ideal for her to pop out to the shops, coffee shops, or supermarket, none of this is necessary if she doesn't want to/feel like it, but what it does mean is she can keep her mobility and a degree of independence for longer. I cannot speak highly enough of Crown House, it is a hidden gem and good value for money.
My grandma has been a resident of Crown House Care Home for a couple of years and as a family we have been very pleased with the care she has received. The staff are genuinely caring, thoughtful and attentive. They also provide residents with social activities which has been really important for my grandma. She loves the food and has made friends with the other residents. Crown House feels very homely and my grandma is happy here.
We are always greeted warmly and offered a cup of tea or coffee. Mum is so lovingly cared for and always looks immaculate.
It feels like walking into a large comfortable house with a cosy atmosphere in the lounge where residents are encouraged to join one another for dominoes, cards and puzzles. No one is left out which has been heartening for mum as her sight is poor.
There are always activities taking place, weekly communion, a hairdresser and pediatrist.
Every need is catered for. I enjoy visiting as the staff and residents are so friendly and welcoming.
Mum's room is beautiful and she has been able to keep her special possessions around her.
Nothing is too much trouble, communication is excellent and everyone is very approachable.
I cannot recommend Crown House Care Home highly enough.
My mother has been a resident at Crown House Care Home for the past 12 months and she and I have been extremely satisfied with the experience so far. Staff are caring and professional and demonstrate a deep understanding of each residents required care needs and levels of support required. The personal needs and preferences of the residents are always paramount. Amenities and facilities are good and there are regular activities and events held in the main lounge. Residents are free to join in as much or as little as they want. Dining facilities are excellent and the quality of the food served is highly commended. The location is also practical being located in the middle of the town making trips out for shopping or socialising very easy. Recommended.
My father moved to Crown House from another care home five months ago and the care he has received has been exceptional - especially given the challenges of Covid restrictions. The manager is incredible and she ensures the home adheres to high standards of care at all times and is also willing to get involved in any role in the home if necessary. Furthermore, the staff are professional, kind, helpful and are amazing with my father - every time I visit him, staff always pop in with tea and cake or just to check him so he is rarely alone in his room for very long. I cannot praise them enough. Additionally, the care home itself is astounding - it is decorated to a high standard with beautiful paintings and lamps which gives it a homely, warm atmosphere and my father says the food is like my late mother's (praise indeed because she was a fantastic cook) - fresh, delicious and nutritious. I cannot praise this home enough - a rare gem indeed.
During lockdown I was not able to visit but had complete confidence that my mother was receiving exceptionally good care and that I would be contacted by phone to discuss any issues. My mother’s health declined and I visited several times before she died, staff were reassuring to me and although very weak, my mother was comfortable and contented.
I cannot praise the management and staff enough for the caring way in which looked after my mother during the last years of her life.
