I want to thank all the staff at Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia Home for the care they gave to my dad and the support they have given to my sister and I on the death of my dad. Dad was a resident at Burton Oaks for two years and the kindness, patience and the humour shown to dad over those two
years was something we won’t ever forget. Putting dad into a care home was really hard, but the staff at Burton Oakes welcomed him in and he became part of their family. So thank you again for everything you did for dad.

Mum has been a resident at Burton Oaks since 2020 and is very happy here. The staff and management are great, very friendly and caring and Mum regularly sings their praises. Whenever I have visited I have felt that it is a happy place and there seem to be lots of activities to keep the minds and bodies
of the residents from deteriorating any faster than they should. My wife worked 10 years in the care sector and would tell you that this home is head and shoulders above any that she has been involved with. Thank you to all the staff, who obviously genuinely care for the residents. This is not just a job to them. I should also mention the kitchen staff of whom Mum has talked very favourably.

I wanted to thank all of the staff for making my aunt's 90th birthday so memorable. You had worked so hard to make it special, with a beautiful buffet, cakes, balloons, banners and even 90th serviettes and plates. Nothing was too much trouble and I am so very grateful. It felt like a big family party
with staff and residents joining in the fun and my aunt really enjoyed it. My aunt has settled in so well and all credit goes to the staff. A big thank you, to you all.

Our aunt moved to Burton Oaks in January 2022, and it is such a relief she is receiving the constant care she clearly needs. The staff are wonderful, very caring and friendly. They obviously want the best for the residents.
We celebrated our aunt's 90th birthday this week, and the staff really
pulled out all the stops! They organised an enormous and delicious birthday tea, with 90th birthday decorations, for everyone, but also made sure we had private time with our aunt to open cards and presents first. They even arranged a video of photos, shown on a screen! We had no idea they would put in so much effort, so the whole family is delighted, and we are very grateful to everyone.

My father has been here for well over 2 years. As a family, including my father, we are very happy with the home, staff and management. My thoughts are that a care home is only as good as its staff and the staff here are excellent and tend to stay long term. The staff try very hard to make a real family
feel to the home and make visitors very welcome. I would also like to praise all the staff, for going over and beyond during the pandemic. Without the care the staff gave my father, during this time, I know we would not have him now.

The Home is always clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly, attentive and always encourage residents to join in activities. Have no worries about Dad being there and they make you feel very comfortable when visiting. Has also been lovely attending the family events and seeing how much the staff
seem to enjoy their work.

Wonderful!
First I’m ashamed to say this review is well overdue. I’ve concluded it’s because right from day 1 we were so confident that we had chosen the right home for my dear mother-in-law that we could step back knowing she was ok.
Along with guilt, the trauma of choosing a care home in the
Pandemic, knowing we wouldn’t be able to visit her was traumatic!
We did our homework online, Burton Oaks came first. We did a COVID safe visit, through windows and seeing a lovely model room (that ended up as hers! ) Instantly, her daughter and I both had a gut feeling she would have the care we could no longer give.
All staff are wonderful. Phoning us with questions, and answering ours. Adjusting things as they got to know her definite likes and dislikes and medical, dementia needs. Also respecting her strong beliefs that haven’t faded even though she has, sadly.
A trauma lessened with their care for her, and us too.

My family member has had a complete change of lifestyle when compared to her previous home. She is out of bed, washed and dressed daily and spends most of her time in the living room with staff and other residents. Her speech has improved and she now enjoys doing crosswords and having a chat.
It feels
like an extended family. Really pleased.

I accompanied my 94-year-old mother with advanced dementia into Broad Oaks Residential and Care home as their first resident on 12th July 2019. Mother was extremely anxious about the admission as she was dead against residential care. The family and friends had done a sterling job in keeping her safe
and contented in her own bungalow but the time had finally come to move into a facility with 24-hour care.

My wife and I had been shown around the home before it had opened and discussed the ethos and principles of care with the senior manager and we were very happy that mother would be contented at Broad Oaks, as it provided what she wanted; a decent on-suite bedroom, wide corridors, outside garden area where she could spend time in summer, a nice lounge facility and a quiet area to read her books, with an uncrowded dining room.

The staff and management greeted her on arrival and within an hour, I would have thought she owned the place! She is very happy there and well settled.

On behalf of my mum who desperately needed respite and a holiday as she is my dad's main carer. After viewing Burton Oaks we knew straight away just from the feel and even how the set up of tables and chairs were that this was the right place for dad for a week's stay and knowing mum would have peace
of mind. The staff were attentive and although dad doesn’t speak now, the staff still spoke to him and took the time which is valuable. It’s nice to know that in future we wouldn’t have any concerns about dad staying there again and we are looking forward to the daycare. So once again thank you all for your kindness it was very appreciated knowing dad was in good hands.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.677) out of 10 for Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.902 for Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia Home is calculated as follows: ( (121 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.902
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
