Situated in Kingsthorpe, Boughton Lodge Care Home is less than two miles from Northampton City Centre with great transport links.

Boughton Lodge is a domestic house that has been converted to provide a residential care home for people requiring a home due to difficulties and infirmities, including a form of dementia.

Their aim is to provide those residents with a ‘home from home’ in a secure, relaxed and comfortable environment.

The home has 17 bedrooms set across two floors with a stair chair lift for ease of access to the first floor. The majority of rooms have en-suite toilet and wash basins and some are fitted with walk- in showers. The bedrooms are the resident's private space and are encouraged to personalise their rooms. The home provides all the furniture they should require but if residents prefer to bring their own they may do so.

Residents have a choice of two lounges to relax and socialise in, as well as secure patio areas to overlook the gardens of the home.

Landscaped gardens wrap around the home, providing areas for relaxing and socialising outdoors, with certain areas being secure for those with dementia.

Nutritious food plays a big role in keeping older, vulnerable people in good health. The home provides high-quality food which is prepared on-site with choices available for residents to choose from. Special dietary requirements are catered for including gluten free diets and diabetics.

At Boughton Lodge, staff are trained to provide residents with care and support using a person-centred approach. They aim to provide activities that residents will enjoy by consulting with residents and families. Activities may consist of a number of in-home activities as well as regular external excursions.

Boughton Lodge has a purpose-built hairdressing salon where the hairdresser visits twice a week. There are regular visits from chiropodists and opticians.

Mum has recently moved into the home and we couldn't be more happier. At a distressing time for the family and more importantly, Mum, all the staff have been amazing in settling her in.
Care and help are first-class and activities are getting better and better, allowing everyone to join in.
You can
see that everyone is treated as an individual, which is so important.
Very pleased with the home and long may it continue.

This is an outstanding care home and we would recommend it to anyone. The carers are very supportive and go beyond with meeting Mum's needs. There is now an activity coordinator, which has made such a difference to the residents. Activities and outings are always organised, which help to stimulate them
and definitely improve their wellbeing.

The best thing I have done for my mum since she wasn’t able to care for herself. Boughton Lodge is a cosy home from home for the residents but it has all the care any individual needs. The residents are comfortable, occupied and happy, which is a priority. Everyone is so friendly and caring and it’s
spotlessly clean. I couldn’t ask for more. I highly recommend Boughton Lodge for your loved one, it’s well worth a visit.

Whenever I visit Boughton Lodge, my visit is always a very pleasant one. Boughton Lodge has a happy, friendly atmosphere, the staff are lively, cheerful and very caring, what's more important is that the residents are happy, relaxed and enjoy the activities, as I do myself. I join in with the activities,
keep fit, sing-a-longs, when I visit. My step-mum is very well looked after in all respects.

My mum has been cared for at Boughton Lodge for just over a year now and it was the best decision we have made as a family. I cannot praise them enough. From the first meeting when we looked around the home we have received a warm welcome and been extremely happy with her care.
It is a small, inviting
and friendly home that is well managed. Any queries are dealt with quickly and fairly and you really feel you are listened to.
The staff here are marvellous and I am really pleased and happy with the care and respect they give my mum.
Covid has impacted on some of the activities but prior to Covid they were numerous and interesting eg canal trips and visiting the Zoo. Now activities are limited to the home but still provide lots of stimulus and fun. This is a strength of the home.

Mum has been a resident at Boughton Lodge for 2.5 years. It's a small home with a family feel, including all the staff, residents and their families. We visited regularly before Covid and always felt welcome and at home. The entertainments manager ensures there are varied activities every week, with
visitors to the home eg a pop-up farm and visits out e.g. a canal boat trip. The home has remained safe through all the Covid months, with the staff going above and beyond to keep everyone well. They have helped us keep in daily contact with Mum via video calls and visits at her window and in the garden as allowed. In-person visits over Christmas with the flow tests were the best present ever as was a Zoom carol concert involving residents and their families all joining in together.
Mum's health has gradually worsened over the years (she's 95) and at all stages, staff have supported her, and us, in providing the best care possible. We are very thankful we chose Boughton Lodge to be Mum's home.

My mum has been a resident for over 2 years now and in that time has been extremely well cared for. The staff empathise with her and with my sisters and me. Over the Covid 19 period the home have been exceptional. When allowed we've had window visits but overall we've kept in touch via video calls.
The entertainments lady has organised this and it has been an absolute lifeline for us to keep in touch with Mum. They have not had a single case of Covid 19 due to their stringent safety rules. Exceptional.

My mother is safe, well cared for and her needs are the staff's priority. I have very good communications with staff and management so if I have any questions they are answered immediately. I have peace of mind knowing that my mother is part of the Boughton Lodge family. The food provided is home-cooked
so nutritional needs are catered for. I am able to deliver anything my mother might need, treats or personal. At times when I know, she has had a bad day I know she is being looked after and comforted. All the staff are very friendly and provide a happy atmosphere.

My mother returned from Australia to Northampton and after visiting suitable care homes finally selected Boughton Lodge due to the friendly staff and homely atmosphere. This proved to be an excellent choice. All staff and management were proactive at all times. Took time to speak to my mother and the
care was second to none. The whole family cannot thank everyone at Boughton Lodge enough. Food excellent. Very clean.

I was always happy when I left my mum after visiting her, knowing that she was happy in her home. She was always smiling and seemed happy. Boughton Lodge felt like my mum's home not too big, not too many other residents. I had faith in all the staff that they always had my mum's best interests in heart.

My great aunt has been residing in Boughton Lodge for a number of years now. During this time her Alzheimers Disease has slowly deteriorated. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff that care for her. She is now frail, but her independence and dignity are respected. The manager, carers and support
staff are all approachable, friendly and knowledgeable. Family are always included in her plan of care and made to feel welcome whatever time you visit.

We moved my aunt here from another care home that we felt wasn't the right place for her. Since we moved her she has socialised more in a short space of time than she did in 9 months in the other home. She is happy to be assisted with personal care here, something the other home said she wouldn't comply
with.
The carers are lovely, the manager knows us all by name and always has time to talk. We are more than happy with the care home and couldn't recommend it enough.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.261)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.261) out of 10 for Boughton Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.222 for Boughton Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (17 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.222
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.039 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Boughton Lodge Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 19 registered maximum number of service users is 3.8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.8 = 0.789
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
