Five Gables Care Home is a small, well established and friendly care home, accommodating 16 residents, located in Kirkby In Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Five Gables is a family owned and run care home, having been part of the local community for over 37 years, with strong community links, Five Gables offers quality care with a quality experience. With an excellent, stable and well trained care team all holding NVQ/QCF certificates, as well as mandatory and specialist training, lead by their exceptional, highly qualified and experienced registered manager.

Five Gables is conveniently situated near to the town centre as well as local bus stops, with good bus routes, a train station, a post office, coffee shop and newsagents.

With a 'Good' rating from the CQC (February 2023), achieving a Care Quality Band 5 by the Local Authority - Nottinghamshire County Council and Five Gables is very proud to be a Veteran Friendly Care Home, achieving the required standards set within the Veteran Friendly Framework.

Our mother was a resident for almost 2 years until she passed away in May 2025. The care and compassion she received was second to none. They looked after mum and all our family wonderfully. Thank you to all the staff.

My mum was looked after by the excellent staff in Five Gables for almost 2 years. She was given her dignity throughout and allowed the level of care she needed. When the time came that she was end of life she was on full care and could not have been kept more comfortable. Staff were professional but
friends to mum and the family, they loved her as much as we did.

Mum visited Five Gables Kirkby in Ashfield about 2 years ago on respite and liked it so much that she decided to make it her permanent home just a few weeks later. The staff at Five Gables have been exceptional in providing mums care and mum came to love each and every one of the staff. Nothing is too
much effort and I would not hesitate to recommend Five Gables to anyone in the future. Mum passed away this week in happy surroundings and my family and I are sincerely grateful to everyone for everything they did.

The Five Gables is a wonderful place. The staff are warm and friendly and provide excellent care. Nothing is too much trouble and they will go the extra mile to ensure needs are met. There is a range of activities provided and Mum loves to go out on visits to the local area. It makes such a difference
to our family, knowing that Mum is so well looked after.

The compassion and patience shown to my father are endless. His needs are complex, yet it's never too much for any of his carers; they go above and beyond with all they do for him. Taking the time to feed him and cater to what he's able to eat, shows the level of care offered to residents.

Lovely place, my mum loves it here, very respectful to all residents, all the ladies help mum. They have numerous activities daily, my mom loves joining in and has met some lovely friends. Lovely bright rooms.

My dad moved into Five Gables three weeks ago following a Hospital stay. I can honestly say he is receiving first class care. Yes the building not being purpose built isn't perfect but it very manageable, friendly, inviting and you feel like you are entering your relatives home. The staff are good at
communicating any issues to family, patient, attentive, kind, friendly and dedicated. My dad is even being took for a pint this week, how fantastic is that! My dad hasn't looked this well in a long time, due to stimulation and constant quality care. Thanks a million.

My dad came in for respite while mum recovered from knee surgery as she is his main carer at home. Dad has mobility issues and suffers chronic pain, the home absolutely excelled in care, absolutely fabulous carers who were kind and very supportive. Nothing was to much trouble, just a fabulous place,
home from home atmosphere. Thank you!

Small, friendly, homely feel to a care setting. Feels very personal, staff know who we are and good relationships built. I know my father is being well cared for and the staff care a great deal and are clearly passionate about what they do. Its also close by which enables me to visit almost daily.

Mum has never been so happy. She has made many special friends with the residents and staff. She particularly enjoys days of activities which are never the same and based around everyone's favourite things to do. The staff tend to her every need and treat her with dignity and respect. All in all she

Five Gables makes my great grandma feel so loved and welcome in the home, the care and support they give out are absolutely amazing and they really do go above and beyond to make sure that all residents feel content and comfortable whilst in the home. I just wish we had known about this home earlier!

As a family we finally made the difficult decision to move mamar into a care home as her needs became too much for us to manage safely at home. As a staff nurse myself it was vital we found a home that would give exceptional care to my mamar. We inspected the home prior without an appointment and was
made to feel welcome immediately. The staff go above and beyond and always treat mamar with respect and dignity. They also do several activities throughout the week keeping mamar busy and engaged. The food is homemade and exceptional
I would recommend this home in a heartbeat and it's a great relief to know our mamar is being so well looked after 24/7. Mamar's got a beautiful room that we've been able to decorate and make personal for mamar overlooking the resident ducks.


Keep up the good work staff and lastly, the home is run by a wonderful approachable knowledgeable manager whom nothing is too much trouble, thank you for everything!

After visiting Five Gables care home, I had high expectations for my mums care, and I am certainly not disappointed, the staff are absolutely fantastic and so welcoming, nothings ever any trouble. They always keep me informed about mum and often send me photos of her joining in with the activities which
she loves. The only regret I have is mum should had gone there sooner. I can't praise and thank all the wonderful stall enough. I would certainly recommend Five Gables to anyone.

Mum moved into the 5 Gables almost 3 years ago. She was struggling with any self-care and was very low in mood. With the kind and supported of the staff mum has made huge progress, made friends and has a real zest for life again. As a family we do not worry anymore we know she is safe and cared for.
The patience and respect she receives from the staff is truly fantastic.

Really pleased with the care my father in law receives at Five Gables, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They go above and beyond in their care for the residents. Really nice that all residents received a gift at Christmas makes it feel more like home. Sometimes things can be challenging but

Absolutely fantastic. My mum has settled very well and is so much happier now. The staff are welcoming and keep me up to date on how my mum is doing day to day, even sending me photos of her, which puts my mind at ease. Five Gables is a home from home and I would give it 6 stars if I could.

Emma is an extremely knowledgeable and capable registered manager. She joined Five gables in 2008 as a care worker and on completing her L5 Health and Social Management Qualification, Emma was promoted to Registered Manager in 2016.
Emma is forward thinking and naturally caring, advocating for, and championing the rights of residents, she leads by example, nothing is too much trouble and her door is always open.
Emma is quality driven and wants only the very best for the residents of Five Gables. She keeps community at the heart of what Five Gables stands for and continues to create and adapt the home to the changing wishes and needs of the residents she supports.
