Well !!! What can I say, only good things about this care home, before i found this home, I had visited quite a few, some of whitch were in my opinion, horrific & whouldnt have put an animal in them, let alone a human being. For me, as soon as I walked through the door, I just knew, this was the
place for my mum, it felt homely & warm & friendly, the staff & i mean all the stafford were professional & welcoming. My mum has alzheimers & can be quite challenging, the staff treat her with dignity & care. The room she has is lovely & modern & always kept clean , she has plenty to do if she wants to take part & the food is very nice, it seems like a well run establishment & all the residents seem well cared for. Although no place is perfect, to me this place is the closest to perfection I found , well done moriah house, you all deserve the praise
Kindest regards Nicola, S daughter of service user

Outstanding care and well being for all residents needs and abilities, communication and information from all staff is excellent, homely and friendly atmosphere at all times, cleanliness, maintenance, kitchen and housekeeping are 100% all of the time. Daily activities/entertainment available and all
members of staff at hand ready to multi task if needed, this gives peace of mind that loved ones are very well looked after.

My experience at Moriah House so far has been excellent and I couldn't have asked for more, the carers, the domestics, the clerical staff, the catering staff and the maintenance staff are all very efficient, friendly and helpful. I am very pleased and I have confidence in the way my wife is being looked
after. Finally I have to say how impressed I am with the food, it is excellent so compliments to all of the catering staff.

My father came here during the COVID outbreak in 2019. His dementia meant he was challenging for the staff who managed his condition with care, compassion and dignity. The staff were always approachable and professional. I believe this was the best option for him and I have never had cause to regret
it.
Reply from Lynn Jewell, Operations Manager at Moriah HouseThank you for your very kind review. Dementia is a very difficult illness for both the person living with it, and their family. We try and support both, with high quality care, through what can be difficult times. We are glad that you have never had cause to regret your decision to place him with us. Best wishes to you.

Wonderful staff. Keeps me informed with any problems/information etc. I think we are lucky to have a system like care homes in this country. I couldn't do this on my own. No problems with the home that I can see. Thank you.

Office paperwork needs completing sooner rather than later. Food needs to be cut up into very small pieces, without skin etc and a knife and fork provided. My dad is looked after quite well by the staff. He seems content and very well fed. He seemed settled.

The staff are wonderful, although recently a large amount of staff left, I found this worrying as many of them were staff I had come to know over the years, and who knew my mum and cared for her very well. Mum is happy and clearly cared for so I am overall happy with everything.

My wife has just died. The staff were very kind and sympathetic, both when I visited and in her final hours. She had Alzheimer's and despite the fact she had almost no communicative skills and was heavily reliant on help to do the most basic tasks, they were very supportive and I never had any cause
for concern about her treatment. The home itself is not luxurious, but her room was very pleasant and the atmosphere in the home was very good. It was kept very clean. The food was very good and the laundry service, excellent. Most importantly, my wife was happy.

My mum has dementia and move into Moriah House after a difficult period when her health had deteriorated significantly. Within a couple of weeks, she was walking, eating and drinking normally again. I believe this is due to the quality of care she received. The staff are friendly and welcoming and I
truly appreciate their kindness to my mum when she can be quite challenging due to her dementia.

It is a pleasure to visit a very dear friend at the home. The staff are very pleasant and are to be admired for doing a very difficult job with a smile.
I spoke to a senior today who exhibited an aura of professional capability coupled with an innate sense of optimism for the future.
Well done guys.

Appreciating that it was a difficult time over Dec 2021 and most care homes had to close their doors yet again, it was a very poor experience that our loved one endured.
The staff were pleasant, but basic care needs were unfortunately neglected, such as hygiene of the resident, one bath and shower
in 4x weeks.
Food was very basic and lacking in choice, having no bacon when requested even though other residents were eating it. No porridge either on some days.
Clothing missing after going to the laundry, even though labelled. Ten pairs of new pants missing, only had the pants they left in and wasn't sure how long they had been wearing them, but hadn't had any clean ones to wear.
No activities arranged over Xmas period.
The weekly cost of this home should be revised, as it is expensive as the Care Commission report suggests....overall requires improvements. We have found much better and cheaper, without compromise on care. We wouldn't recommend.

I have been very impressed by Moriah House, especially the care staff. They are friendly, cheerful and genuinely seem to care about my mum. I live abroad, I have been here for 2 weeks and it is my last day tomorrow, but I can leave feeling happy she is in good hands.
Every time we have visited Mum,
we have had a friendly welcome. The food is excellent and the facility is clean. I would highly recommend this facility.

Two of my relatives were moved to Moriah House at short notice. They have both settled in extremely well and appear to be very happy. Apart from 2 falls since admission, the carers are always present in the living room and appear to keep a close eye on the residents. They both seem clean and well cared
for in spite of their incontinence issues. Staff and management are very friendly and helpful. Food and snacks are excellent.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.678)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.678) out of 10 for Moriah House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.678 for Moriah House is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.678
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moriah House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
