Moriah House is situated in the heart of the Nottingham suburb of Carlton, less than two miles from the centre of the city, with all its shops and amenities. Since 1980 it has offered its residents high-quality care and accommodation in a warm and relaxed setting. The home provides accommodation for those who still wish to be independent as well as those who may need a little more attention and looking after.

Anyone who has ever visited Moriah House will tell you that it is one of the happiest homes they have been in. The manager and all the staff work really hard to create an environment where residents can enjoy life to the full, and become part of the strong community atmosphere that makes the home a special place. Everyone at the home wants residents to feel part of a loving and caring community where nothing is too much trouble. This is not only comforting for those who live at the home but also offers peace of mind to relatives and loved ones.

The home is proud to be very much part of the local community and look forward to continuing to care for its residents for many years to come.

We are delighted to have found such a caring home with long serving staff whose focus is the happiness of its residents. Mum happily showed us her colour coordinated room with a lovely view and comfy bed. She praises the freshly cooked meals and thinks the staff are wonderful.
What more could we ask
than to have found this oasis in a sea of homes where we know mum is safe and happy and we, at last, have peace of mind.

We were so lucky to find this wonderful home where the care is second to none.
The staff have long-term connections with the home and it really is like one big family.
I have visited relatives in homes over the years and never have I witnessed such a caring and happy environment - it is truly a home
from home for the residents.
Daily activities ensure stimulation for the residents.
Mum is happy and contented now and knowing she is safe and well cared for brings priceless peace of mind after an extremely stressful period in our lives.

I want to leave an excellent review on the staff at Moriah House. Our mother could no longer be cared for at home and at such short notice, we were limited to homes that had rooms and ended up at Moriah House with some apprehension. We could not have been more wrong. All the staff were lovely and that
includes all the support, office and kitchen staff. She had taken to her bed but they encouraged her to come downstairs for meals and gradually she was more than happy to get up everyday. Whilst she was never a great one for making friends she was happy to chat to the staff and some of the residents, sitting in the quiet room or in the outside area. Unfortunately, her time there was only 6 months but it was such a happy time and I cannot be more grateful to them for making this time so special with some great memories and with the comfort that she was well liked and cared for.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.652)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.652) out of 10 for Moriah House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.452 for Moriah House is calculated as follows: ( (52 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.452

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.2 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moriah House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.6

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
