My dad is a resident at Hawthorn Lodge and is so happy there and whenever I visit him, it is obvious why! All of the staff, not only the carers, are so friendly and approachable, and they genuinely do care. There are plenty of activities for the residents to get involved in, as well as downtime for
them to enjoy too. The residents really are treated like family, it is their home and they are made to feel like it. I can't thank the staff at Hawthorn Lodge enough for everything they do for my dad, I know it can't be easy but you are so appreciated. Thank you!!

Amazing love the staff , they all do amazing job and look after my nan amazing. Since my nan started living there she having showers and eating the right foods and looking after fully snd getting her into activity s and making friends.

I moved my Nan in to Hawthorne lodge in February due to her needing more care than I can provide and I honestly can not praise the staff enough, they have been amazing with her care and are so patient. I visit my nan weekly but I know in between visits she is looked after and if anything happens I always
get a call no matter how big or small. The staff also communicate well with the family and are extremely polite when asked a question. If your looking for somewhere to house an elderly family member who needs extra support I highly recommend Hawthorne lodge.

We were searching for the right place for our mum, we realised that while it's easy to focus on how a home looks, what matters is the care, compassion, and dedication of the staff. Hawthorn stood out from the very beginning. The manager, was excellent-answering all questions promptly and working with
agencies to make sure our mum could be placed quickly and smoothly. When we were shown around we immediately felt at ease. They took time to really listen to what we needed, and made us feel reassured. The staff have gone above and beyond to help her settle in. Every request has been acted on swiftly.The atmosphere is warm and welcoming-you are always greeted with a smile, and the staff team work so well together. After hospital care, my mum was admitted to the care home. The transition was expertly handled by the home. Mum settled in quickly, and this was all due to the management and staff at the home. The staff are all lovely and approachable and really do look after not only my mum but other residents as
well with care and attention. Mum is very happy and relaxed, and I feel more at ease now that she is safe and secure. I would have no hesitation in recommending Hawthorn to anyone.

I am always made welcome as a visitor to Hawthorn Lodge which has a friendly homely atmosphere. The staff are very kind to my Mother, and undertake their caring duties very conscientiously. They have been exceptional at dealing with several medical emergencies which have arisen. Communications with
all staff are always clear and helpful. The home and Mum's room are always kept spotlessly clean and tidy. She really enjoys the food served and the special events arranged for residents and is very happy and settled here.

My uncle has been staying at Hawthorne Lodge since September last year.
He's had a couple of falls but the home have been amazing.
They telephone to update when he was taken into hospital. We also had my mum in care at the time, they were very understanding and just contacted me with updates, I always
feel supported not pressurised, one member of staff in particular has been extremely empathetic.
My uncle is declining but I feel reassured that he is being looked after.

My mum receives excellent care and support. The food is brilliant and the staff can not do enough for her.

Every time we visit my uncle, we feel welcomed as one of the family. Someone always comes to check on him whilst we're in his room so I feel his safeguarding is paramount to the home.
He is never without a hot drink and something to eat. His face lights up when the staff talk to him.
He was in quite
a bad place prior to residing at Hawthorne Lodge but he has most definitely improved and seems content.
I don't want to sound patronising but I need to tell you that each and every single one of you are doing an amazing job. I don't think you realise how important it is, as a relative, that we leave our visit knowing our relatives are safe and being looked after by people who care.

My dad has been a resident at Hawthorne Lodge for almost a year now.
He was a tricky customer when he first arrived at the care home due to his deteriorating physical and mental health and mood but within a few months he had settled well, thanks to the wonderful care team.
As a nurse myself, I have
visited many care homes during my career and although this isn’t the ‘poshest ‘ or ‘most plushly decorated’ care home, I feel that it’s the staff and care and love provided by the staff that make a care home a ‘home’.
The staff are second to none and there are some real gems of carers there. I leave my dad there knowing that he is well cared for.
Dad enjoys the food a lot. He doesn’t really partake in any activities but he is settled and has made some friends within the home.
The manager and senior staff are all approachable and keep me informed of any issues straight away. The GP from the local surgery who provides health care is also good and keeps me updated.

Your brother does have lots of interaction with his personal assistants mostly on a daily basis, but he did use to like playing Bingo and joining in with the quizzes and having a dance with the activities person and he does attend the social events, our next social evening is Halloween and you are most welcome to attend should you want.
We are currently having a plan of room refurbishment and your brother's room is on that list.

My mum arrived at this care home extremely distressed and suffering from severe dementia. This home brought my mum back from the brink of despair and confusion to the mum we knew and loved. I have no idea how they did this but they did. Suffice to say that when my mum passed she had been her old
self for 3 months and both the staff and ourselves were equally as sad to lose her. I could not recommend this home enough. They didn't just care for our mum - they cared for us!

My mother was in this care home for 9 yrs, the care that she received was extremely good over the years. My mother had vascular dementia and over the last few years mother got quite nasty and lash out. But the care home coped with this very well. The care she received never faltered. Mum passed away
on the 17th Jan 2020. The care home allowed us to have the wake at the home and they really did her well.

My mum has been in Hawthorn Lodge now for almost 2 years. I am so grateful for the care and kindness shown to her. When she is ill, we are kept informed and her GP contacted without delay. My mum's dementia is advanced, so it is difficult for her to join in with activities but she is provided with pampering,
hand massages and her feet tap to the music when artist are on. Management and staff are always approachable, professional and kind.

Hannah Lang

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2016

I have worked at Hawthorn Lodge since 2016, and began my journey as a cleaner. Once I started the role, I felt very passionate toward the service users' well-being, and I wanted to become more involved with the service users day to day lives, so I trained as a care assistant. I then began to train as a senior carer because I wanted to expand my knowledge, and this led to me becoming Head of Care in 2022. In 2024, due to unforeseen circumstances within the home, I began to train as a manager, and I received my CQC registration in September 2024.
