Family owned for 27 years, Abbeywood Residential Care Home has been tastefully appointed and maintained to a very high standard.

Staff actively encourage families to continue the bond and contact they had with their relative when they previously lived in their own home.

Abbeywood prides itself on its person-centred approach to caring for the elderly.

The home's main objective is to recognise the greatest need of residents, namely self-fulfilment, while at the same time endeavouring to provide the highest standards of care while maintaining residents' dignity and independence.

There is now also WiFi in every bedroom and throughout the home.

Extremely homely, friendly residential home. Staff are caring and understanding and cater to each resident's needs. Bedrooms are lovely and furnished public rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and cared for.

There are fun days for the residents and food is fantastic.

Abbeywood Care Home is with a capital 'C'. My mother has been a resident since January 2015. From the start of her time, she has been looked after extremely well. The home has a doctor from the local health centre who attends the home every Monday and is in contact with families if and when required.
She rang me to discuss my mother's needs a few days after she arrived at Abbeywood Care Home. The team are wonderful, the residents get plenty of entertainment and stimulation. Entertainers visits, sing songs and playing games. Some able-bodied residents are taken out on trips. The CHRISTMAS PARTY is AMAZING. And when asked how she feels about living at Abbeywood Care Home, my mother says CONTENT (what a fabulous word) 'CONTENT' - another capital 'C'.

I cannot praise the staff at Abbeywood enough for the care they give to my mother. They have given her a new lease of life since she has lived there. Whenever I visit there is always some sort of activity taking place and all the residents are enjoying themselves. The staff will always have a chat to
me and let me know how mum is doing and if there are any problems. My sister and I know she is in safe hands.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.558) out of 10 for Abbeywood Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.758 for Abbeywood Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.758
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbeywood Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
