My dad was admitted to Franklin in February 2024 due to living with alzheimers. To put Dad in a care home was probably the hardest decision we have ever had to make. The team at Franklin always made us feel welcome when we visited dad, nothing was ever too much trouble, and we always witnessed care
staff treat dad with compassion, dignity and respect. We also witnessed the same in the communal areas, with other staff and residents would fully recommend a home from home loving and caring environment.

My father was at Franklin House until he passed away in February. The management and the staff could not do enough for both my father and his wife, who did not leave his side till he passed. The care the staff displayed for end of life care, the dignity and respect they showed, I cannot put into words.
We as a family could have not chosen anywhere better. Thank you all.

Both my Grandad and my Nana stayed at Franklin House. My Nana was on respite after a hospital stay and the team got my Nana back on her feet and independent enough to go back to her own home, she always commented on how great the team were and how lovely everyone was. We could see this ourselves whenever
we visited too, always offered refreshments, nothing was ever too much for the team even when you could see they were extremely busy. My grandad sadly passed away in Franklin house due to progressive illness. But I cannot thank the team enough for how amazing they were through a truly sad time for our family. Everyone was very caring, compassionate and my grandad was cared for with the upmost dignity. We were well informed at all times and my Nana was welcomed with open arms when she came back to Franklin House to visit my grandad. Overall amazing team and home, highly recommend!

My father-in-law was taken into Franklin House because he could no longer look after himself.
What a brilliant place. He was well looked after. Clean and very friendly. Not only did they help him but also took time out to help us. Every time we visited him, he would always say he liked it in there.
All the staff are hard-working and friendly.

I moved into Franklin House in 2012. The staff are excellent. The home is very friendly, the entertainment is fantastic, we always have a good time and a sing-along.

The staff take me out when I want to go for a curry. I would not want to live anywhere else.

Food could be more varied. Carers are friendly, caring and value dignity. Management is approachable and helpful. Nail care could be improved. Franklin House is very good at providing activities of different varieties for stimulation and social.

Both my parents have, on separate occasions, been residents here. The manager and her staff are brilliant with all the residents and are friendly and helpful with the relatives. It is always clean and tidy as are the residents. Mum has settled in really well and I am relieved that she is being looked
after, well fed and made to feel relaxed at all times. Nothing is too much trouble. They do all they can to help. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who needs care.

My mother was in Franklin House for eight years and in all that time she was treated with the utmost respect and made to feel that it was her real home. I would have no hesitation in recommending Franklin House to anyone looking for a safe clean place for a member of their family.

I have been a resident of Franklin House for 6 months on admission I was unkempt, bewildered and treated all with suspicion. Within a couple of days through the attitude of the carers, I felt settled in. The staff were courteous, friendly and treated me with respect. All routines and procedures were
explained to me clearly. The rooms were clean and tidy and the food was healthy. I have thrived due to the caring nature of all the workers and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

Mum was a resident at Franklin House from May 2014 to October 2017 and her needs changed during this time. Franklin House was always able to manage mum's needs and went out of their way to do so even when her care became complex. The staff were kind, friendly, helpful, caring and supportive. They were
very well trained and supported by the fantastic manager and deputy manager. Every challenge they faced was met with a sense of humour and a genuine wish to help.

My relation has been at Franklin House for almost six years and I can honestly say, she is well cared for. This gives me peace of mind because I know if there is anything out of the ordinary with her, they will be in contact with me. If she could speak, I think she would say that she is settled there.
Both management and staff are very efficient.

My mother has been a resident for ten years and for the last four years has suffered from severe dementia and has been bed bound. No communication is possible. Throughout, her care has been very good/excellent.
The premises are quite old-fashioned and furniture and decorations need upgrading but care
is the key and there are no complaints on this score. The home has very recently changed ownership and it needs to be seen that standards are kept up given this.

Treated with dignity and love during the whole time that my lovely mum was a resident there. The staff became like members of our extended family and really cared for mum. Made her laugh and more importantly, kept her warm, safe and happy.
I would recommend the home even though my mum has now passed
away, says it all really.

I have been involved with Franklin House since my mother in law was placed there as a resident in December 2014. in November 2015 my aunt (mother in law's sister) was also placed here, both suffering from dementia.
Staff treated them and us like members of their family.
Franklin House is not only
a care home, it is a home that cares.
My mother in law passed away in April 2016 and my aunt in June 2017, 96 and 95 respectively. They were treated with absolute dignity and cared for until the very last moments of their lives and we were treated with compassion and understanding.
I and my husband still visit the home to see staff and residents and are treated like part of a happy family.

Overall I was very satisfied with the care my mother received. The staff were friendly, patient and worked very hard, sometimes under enormous pressure.
The home was clean and my mother was always treated with dignity and respect. As she became more ill, her needs changed and the staff looked after
her well, sometimes in very difficult circumstances.
I would not hesitate to recommend.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.103)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.103) out of 10 for Franklin House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.228 for Franklin House is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 4.228
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Franklin House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
