Overall Experience
On visiting my sister, I have seen that she is well dressed and always observed by staff, and her needs are always seen too, dignity and respect are alway in place. They have plenty of activities throughout the day when I have been at different time. Observing staff I have seen them interacting with all people who are under their care.

When I leave I feel relaxed in the knowledge that she is being well cared for.

The overall support given before, during & after the transition was excellent. It made it easier through a hard time for the family to adjust. She became very settled which also made it a little less emotional. Staff are fab, always give us reassurance when we are unsure on anything. Always take time out to talk to us. The care given cannot be faulted and we are incredibly happy that a place here was available.

My wife has been in the care home since September 2025. After a difficult time previously with Charlotte living at her home with dementia she is now in a safe environment where her family know she is cared for.

The staff are very attentive and friendly and I know Charlottes family are all contented with knowing she is cared for here.

The overall care of all the residents at Barley Brook is very good. The residents are very well looked after, with the staff not just providing care, but also activities to keep the residents occupied and entertained and active. The staff are fully supportive of the residents and show patience & understanding, in what must be difficult at times. Very much appreciated. Thankyou Tony & Angie.

Since Mum arrived almost 6 years ago, things have improved. We are pleased that Mum has a chair suitable for all her needs and a hospital bed as well. The decor in her bedroom is a bit shoddy and could do with decorating. As far as we know, Mum is treated very well, and we are always updated on any issues regarding Mum.

All members of staff are absolutely amazing at their jobs! My mum really likes the staff as they are really caring and do a great job with the residents. Residents are really stimulated by activities done in the day and are well fed with quality meals. I can't say enough about barley brook! Excellent care by all.

My mum's care at Barley Brook has been of the highest standard where she has been a resident for two and half years. All the staff are very attentive and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Most days I have visited there are a range of activities taking place. There are outside entertainers throughout the year and some special events arranged eg VE Day, Kings Coronation, Christmas Party. All meals are prepared on site and look appetising and are age appropriate.

Mum had been in Barley Brook now for coming on for 3 years! She has settled very well and has a few friends she spends most of the days with. The staff are all very welcoming, helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble! I have met the manager a few times who has always listened to my thoughts and taken action straight away if there was any concern. As for the activities, well they are always doing day-to-day activities from bingo, knitting, singing and when there are special events coming up like Christmas, Easter, sporting events they are always getting everyone involved and decorating the rooms accordingly. I can honestly say this is such a welcoming and happy environment and I’m so happy my mum is happy. Well done Barley Brook.

If I could rate this '0' I would do. My aunty spent three months at this home. The decline in her health and wellbeing during this time has been dramatic.
The cleanliness of the property is lacking, from juice jugs left on a high shelf with no lids, to residents' incontinence issues being left to cause issues for other residents, staff and visitors even after being notified. Residents' rooms being used as storage facilities for other residents' wheelchairs.
Residents are not stimulated.
This list is endless. I fear for the residents and future residents!

This has caused myself and other family members great distress.

Overall Experience
My wife who has Alzheimer's went in for a week's respite having had an assessment by the management who assured me they could manage her condition. They contacted me on two evenings to go up as she was agitated and would not take her medication; a family member attended on both occasions.
I was telephoned at 10pm on the fifth night to inform me an ambulance had been sent for as my wife had had an accident. On attending my wife had a large lump on her head and blood matted in her hair. I was informed by a carer that she had entered the laundry through an unlocked door and climbed out through an open low-level window and had fallen heavily.

The nurse in charge was in another room showing little or no concern and the manager could not be contacted. I haven't had any response from the care home.
