Clean and comfortable. However there is not enough interaction with residents. Majority sitting and staring into space. I also disagree with residents being shouted at and treated like naughty children. On my last visit the carers in the lounge disappeared and we were locked in without a career in sight.
I find this unacceptable. The residents were panicking so I tried to open the door, which set off the alarms. I finally got out.

I am very happy with the care my mum receives at the care home. The staff are very friendly and keep me well informed about my mum's care.
The activities they provide enable the residents to keep physically and mentally active as much as they are able.

A friend of ours was in this home, he was diagnosed with dementia and declined fairly quickly. The staff and management were very supportive and knowledgeable. The support was second to none for the family as well as our friends.

My aunt was a resident for over 3 years. The care she received was good, although it is impossible to replicate her own home. She had dementia and the patience and care of the staff was excellent. It was impossible for me to rate food and activities as I didn't partake in either. I rarely put excellent
in a review, so good is as good as it gets.
Reply from Mellisa Thompson, Home Manager at Lostock LodgeThank you for your kind review. It was a pleasure to care for your aunt, such a lovely lady who is sincerely missed by all. Kind regards.

The staff and management in Lostock Lodge are amazing, very warm and caring.
All staff very relatable, they get to know each resident personally, they go above and beyond to meet my father's needs which can be very challenging at times.
My father is always clean, shaven hair and teeth cared for, and
a big plus they never lose his glasses. Excellent place, would highly recommend to anyone, very warm and loving.
An extra thank you to laundry staff.

My mother-in-law’s been lucky enough to become a resident at Lostock Lodge.
She has lived alone for nearly 20 years after losing her husband in 2006, being a strong-minded and independent woman she was content with family and memories. However, in later years she has become frailer and bouts of confusion.
Towards the end of last year, it became evident she couldn’t live alone independently. Lostock Lodge was highly recommended by several friends, we decided to visit and were pleasantly pleased. The staff and residents were welcoming, they wanted to show us what an amazing community hub it was. So after looking at a few others, our decision was made, Lostock Lodge stood out above the rest for warmth, quality and professionalism. My mother-in-law settled in at the end of January 2024, the room is generous in size, well-equipped and within the beautiful house and grounds. The staff are all so tentative, caring and cannot do enough for her and the other residents. It’s amazing.
Reply from Mellisa Thompson, Home Manager at Lostock LodgeThe team at Lostock are delighted to receive such positive feedback, and as always endeavour to promote care that is fulfilled, respectful and dignified. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you also for your continued support and allowing us to care for your loved one.

I have found the staff to be very good and caring, management also excellent. Only minor issue is standard of maintenance in room could be improved.
Example: tiles missing on ensuite floor.
Curtains too small (gap at top 6").
Towel rail/hanger needs fitting.
Reply from Mellisa Thompson, Home Manager at Lostock LodgeThe team are delighted to receive such lovely feedback, with regards to the maintenance works, these have been reported and will be resolved as a matter of priority. As always we value your feedback.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.128)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.128) out of 10 for Lostock Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.353 for Lostock Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (63 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 156 Ratings = 4.353
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lostock Lodge is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
