My mother had Alzheimer's and needed 24 hour care in a secure environment. Newfield were able to offer us a large bright room with a personal shower and toilet. She was a resident for two years and during that time we were very happy that we had chosen Newfield.
The staff were always visible, clearly
dedicated well trained and caring. They encouraged us to visit and to join in with the many activities they organised for the residents. Alternatively if we wanted to take mum out they were happy to facilitate that too.
The food snacks and teabreaks were to a good standard.
We would be happy to recommend Newfield to anyone.

Our dad has been a resident at Newfield Lodge Dementia Care Home for over two years now.
It was the hardest decision we ever had to make, deciding which home was appropriate.
We made the best choice as dad has thrived here.
When he arrived he couldn't walk, wouldn't talk to anyone and his health
had deteriorated.
With the kindness, support, friendliness and professionalism shown by the manager and the rest of her exceptionally special team, we have most of our old dad back.
They care for dad like he is there own, showing respect, treating dad with dignity and still letting him have as much independence as allowed.
I would recommend Newfield Lodge to anyone looking at a Dementia Care setting for a loved one

My mother had been staying at a different care home but as her mental health declined with the onset of dementia we decided that specific dementia care was needed. As Newfield Lodge is a sister home we decided it would be best to move my mum there. It was a great decision. The staff are so friendly
to their guests and visitors and nothing seems too much trouble. My mum's room is great and spacious, the food served is excellent and there are many activities to stimulate guests. We are very pleased we chose Newfield Lodge. Highly recommended.

Clean, tidy, staff appeared to be caring and responsive. My friend has been at Newfield for a couple of weeks now and he is happy, the food is good he said.
The staff are friendly and accommodating. Always have singers in, it's a good laugh.

With so many dementia care homes it proves to be tough to pick the best one.
My mum needed extra dementia care as a family who has never dealt with dementia, we struggled.
Newfield Lodge has been outstanding with the care and treatment towards my mum. The staff are so friendly and accommodating.
I
am forever grateful to the manager and his team. It's so nice to see my mum going out into the community.

When you arrive at Newfield Lodge, you are greeted by a warm, friendly staff member, they are easy to talk to and we feel they are an extension of our family. Mum has severe dementia and has been here for nearly 3 years, she is happy and settled. The staff are absolutely great with her, she's had health
and emotional problems, the staff have fully supported her needs and have always kept us informed of any changes. We have been there when they've had entertainment and the residents, staff and us have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We've always been informed of any changes, activities or outings. Overall we feel Mum is getting the best care by being supported all the way. We praise and thank all the staff for their hard work.

My aunt has been a resident for 20 months. We are very happy with the care she gets. All staff are very friendly and we’re always greeted with cheerfulness from the staff. It’s lovely to see that there are activities taking place on a regular basis and entertainment too. My aunt usually seems happy
which is excellent.

The lift has been out of order for almost a week, making it almost impossible for residents on the 1st and 2nd floors to get down to the lounge unless a member of staff is available. Much aggression from residents obviously. The poor staff are having to go up and down stairs to answer buzzers or take
meals up and cleaning equipment.
Reply from Gina Pownall, Operations Manager at Newfield Lodge

Thank you for your feedback regarding the lift. Unfortunately, there was an unforeseen breakdown which required parts to be ordered as they were not stocked by our contracted company. This caused a delay in the repair work but I can confirm this has now been rectified and the lift is fully operational again.

My husband first went into Newfield Lodge Care Home about 14th February 2023. They have treated him very well and with excellent care and patience. Unfortunately, as well as dementia, he has had several episodes of pneumonia due to quite advanced COPD. He is also prone to fall and they do their very
best to watch over him!

I am very happy with the care my father receives and the staff are always helpful and show great care towards my Dad. He has settled in now and as they are specifically trained and used to residents with dementia, they were extremely sympathetic and understanding during his settling-in stage.

I feel confident that my mum is looked after appropriately. Staff seem knowledgeable about dementia care and give time to relatives to discuss any relevant issues. During this period of Covid, all procedures have been followed rigorously from a relative's perspective. My mum seems calm and comfortable
in this setting which can be difficult with the level of dementia.

Newfield Lodge has supported my friend and neighbour for almost 6 months since the death of her husband. The support and care during this difficult time have been wonderful. The staff are kind, caring and provide such dignity to their patients with dementia. I have regular contact with the staff and
management team who are knowledgeable and provide me with advice about any questions I have about the condition.

The activities my friend participates in are brilliant and really stimulate her mind and memories - it looks like they have lots of fun. The home has been supportive in keeping regular contact by video call during a recent COVID outbreak and were quick to respond. I have not seen food or drink but in the time my neighbour has been a resident, she has gained much-needed weight and is always clean and well presented. The door has always been locked and the premises clean. I especially like the social media updates which showcase the fun and care the residents are getting.

Fab home.

Moving my mum into Newfield Lodge during the pandemic was a very challenging process from an emotional point of view. The team at Newfield Lodge have however made this as smooth as possible and welcomed my mum with such warmth, we knew she was in safe hands. My mum took a while to settle in but the
team helped her through this and when we visit now, she has nothing but kind words to say about everyone that works there. The staff appear to genuinely care for the residents they look after and this is clear to see in both their actions but also in the way my mum reacts to them. The pictures on the Facebook page have also been a blessing during lockdown as we've been able to see pictures of all the activities. It's never easy accepting a parent has to go into care but I couldn't have asked for any more from the team at Newfield Lodge.

Mum has now been at Newfield Lodge for 3 years. During Covid, it has been so difficult not to visit properly but Newfield have gone above and beyond in keeping in touch with all they are doing. There are daily photos on Facebook of all they are up to. Newsletters and monthly activity plans are sent
to us. There has been access to Skype calls and if there are any issues we need to know about the team are in touch. The whole team have been amazing and we know Mum is well cared for. Having finally seen her, the images the photos portray are real, she is happy and relaxed and well looked after and that means so much. Thank you so much to everyone.

My mum spent just over a year at Newfield Lodge and I can’t recommend them highly enough. The building is fresh, light and very clean inside with a lovely big spacious lounge area. Mum’s room was also light, spacious and always kept clean. But the best part of Newfield is definitely the staff, my mum
joined them before COVID hit and we were allowed to visit anytime. They made us feel super welcome and part of the family, it made the transition for my dad much easier. Even after the restrictions of COVID the staff kept in touch and did all they could to help us cope when we could no longer visit. We felt Mum was in the best place with people who truly cared for her.

Our mum was admitted to hospital this week and the hospital staff commented on how well Mum is looked after by Newfield staff. It is nice to know this, especially during these difficult times and taking into account we haven’t been able to see much of her due to COVID restrictions. Thanks.

My mum sadly passed away on the 28th January 2021. She had been a resident of Newfield since August 2019.
Mum's care during her stay was second to none. The staff showed wisdom love sensitivity and much care in looking after my mum. Sadly due to lockdown the last time I was able to visit Mum was September
2020 just before we went into lockdown.
However, I have spoken to her on the phone and the staff had kept me fully informed when I rang.
The manager has a wonderful team and I know Mum's stay was a very happy one. She particularly liked the music and dancing.
If you are looking for a high quality loving caring dementia home for your relative then look no further. The standards at Newfield are very high and the knowledge of individuals personalities and needs all taken into account in the interactions with residents. My mother arrived traumatised and agitated. Within 24 hours she was dancing with the manager with a big smile on her face. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Newfield Lodge.

Newfield Lodge made the hardest time of my life bearable, every single member of staff has been amazing from the day my dad went in. They are the most genuine caring team, even in the current climate nothing has been to much trouble. The time and the updates they have given me is second to none. I never
thought I would ever have trusted anyone with my dad's care but I have been proven wrong. I can not recommend Newfield Lodge enough amazing management and team.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.432)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.432) out of 10 for Newfield Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.857 for Newfield Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.857
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.575 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Newfield Lodge is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.875
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
