Ribble Valley Care Home has stunning views of the Ribble Valley looking across the river and views up to Pendle Hill.

The home is surrounded by countryside and has beautiful mature gardens with lawns and flower beds. There is a courtyard in the centre of the home which complements the gardens giving beautiful vistas for all the residents and visitors to the home to enjoy.

There is a homely atmosphere throughout the home which is well furnished and decorated. It provides a first-class service to the residents ensuring they retain their independence and individual choices whilst living in a caring, safe environment.

My father went into Ribble Valley Care Home for short respite very much at the last minute. I cannot fault the preparation that was put into his arrival and his room, nor the staff who welcomed us. Nothing interfered with the essential business of getting him safely settled, with as many of his own
belongings as he wished, and the staff immediately got on with trying to make him happy and comfortable. He had a room with possibly the loveliest view of Pendle ever, and a big window that you could open, which made us happy. Then we found ourselves mid coronavirus crisis, and the care home was deemed the safest place for him. Very sadly he was then diagnosed with pneumonia and was put on end of life care. We could not have asked for kinder, warmer people to look after him, and us, during this very difficult time. The atmosphere in the home remained calm and happy, despite the heightened worry for all, and deeply caring. We are all so very grateful. Thank you to all the marvellous staff.

I was very happy when I visited my mum at this nursing home. She looked a lot better than she had done for a while. The staff were so kind and gentle, loving even with her. I feel the staff are enriching the lives of the residents here. It feels warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, the manager
had time for all of us to discuss Mum and how she was and what she needed, she even took the time to paint Mum's nails. The home smelt lovely and was very clean and tidy. I felt settled once I'd visited. Many thanks.

I visited Ribble Valley Care at the weekend with a friend. I was really impressed with the warm welcome and attention from the staff. We were actually an hour early, but that didn't matter, we were shown around and were able to ask lots of questions which were answered and explained clearly. What struck
me was the calm environment and that all the residents were happy, well presented and enjoying various activities.
The whole environment was one of calm and friendliness, the decoration and upgrading of the home are clear to see.
I have visited many care/nursing homes and was very impressed with the Ribble Valley Care Home and what it had to offer.

I cannot say enough and praise the staff and the way they have cared for my dad during his second stay at Ribble Valley care Home. They have been kind and gentle with both my dad as a resident and my mum as a visitor. The standard of his care, his room and the food have been fantastic. Thank you, I
feel safe knowing my dad is here.

My mother is a very independent strong-minded woman who has resisted full-time care. However, I am very pleased to say she has settled very quickly and is happy. I'm very happy because I know she's safe, cared for, clean and well fed by an excellent team of care staff. Thanks to all concerned.

I visited my friend tonight for the first time since the home was taken over by the new owners. I can already see and feel the improvements in the surroundings. The care has always been very good and the staff are all lovely.

I can’t wait to see what the new owners do with the house side of the

care home.

My husband and I are extremely concerned about the number of established members of staff who have left recently. We believe the care home is using more agency staff which is not very settling for the residents. Why is there a sudden outflux of well-liked and dedicated staff leaving? This concerns us.

Mum has been at Riverside now for nearly 2 years.
In that time she has settled very well, one of the main reasons being the consistency of staff.
These staff are very good, being professional but also treating mum as a 'normal' person, joking with her, but also respecting her, and making sure her
personal needs were met.
I'm concerned at the moment as a number of these established and very good staff are leaving.
This is such a shame to lose staff who are so good at what they do, and it seems to me, that something is causing staff to feel unhappy.
I am cautiously hoping that they are replaced with the same 'down to earth' high standard of care, which was my main reason to choose Riverside Care Centre to look after mum.
I am very disappointed and worried for the future, and just felt I needed to voice my concerns.

My dad has been at Riverside for nearly two years now; initially was very mobile and independent; staff were very supportive and engaged with him and he very quickly settled.
However, his health has since deteriorated and he has moved into the quadrant; I call at many different times of the day and
Dad is always well cared for and relaxed and happy. The staff are fab and there are some who go way above and beyond in a very busy challenging environment.

I have peace of mind that Dad is very well cared for and grateful he was able to go to Riverside.

Keep up the good work, words cannot portray my thanks for the dignity, care, respect and love given to Dad.

I was apprehensive about bringing my husband tot he home but everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The staff went out of their way to make him happy in a situation he finds difficult. At times he can be difficult especially with personal care but everyone is patient with him. He enjoys the food. When
a problem arises eg his dislike of noise they go out of their way to solve it.

Staff are friendly, helpful and approachable and are patient with and respectable towards the residents. The quadrangle is a very pleasant place in good weather. The staff are good in that they help when dogs are brought in and accept they can cause problems like pinching food. Given the circumstances,
I feel relaxed that my husband is content and well cared for.

Laundry is always a problem, especially underwear.
Overall my mum is happy here.
When care is good things run well but it is not always consistent.
Overall the staff are helpful but do not pass messages on so there is a lot of "I didn't get that message".
Everything has definitely improved.
The
furniture in my mum's bedroom could certainly be improved - her curtains, drawers and bed and headboard.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.480)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.480) out of 10 for Ribble Valley Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.905 for Ribble Valley Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.905
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.575 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ribble Valley Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.875
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
