My mum has been in the home for two and a half years. She is very happy and likes the staff who work very hard. She enjoys the food which is varied. Knowing my mum is happy makes me feel better. The home has a "HOMELY FEEL", you could not ask for anything else.

My father is 99 years old and this is his first experience of a care home. The care home has been very caring and staff could not have done more to make the transition from home to care home any easier for us. My father is very happy with every aspect of the home and I could not thank them enough for

My relative spent approx. 3 years in and out of this care home before he died in November 2016. At all times he was treated with respect and dignity and although he could be very difficult at times, he always praised the staff and the care which he received.

Our mum chose to move into Birchfield after a long weekend of visiting various homes. This was the first time a door had opened and the person standing there had spoken to mum directly. It was this person centred approach that convinced us that this was the place that would be able to care for her in
the way that we all wanted. Families are encouraged to visit and take part in their activities and events, making it very inclusive.
In the following three years as mum deteriorated, the staff never lost sight of the fact that she was a person, her dignity was always preserved and the care she received was fantastic. In mums final 10 months she was confined to bed and despite not being a nursing home, the staff diligently turned her every 2 hours. Her bedding was always clean and fresh and as a result of this, she didn’t have a single bedsore which was truly remarkable. Thank you to all the staff at Birchfield for looking after our mum so well and supporting us all in those final weeks.

Overall we are extremely satisfied with the care mum is receiving, although at times we have noticed a lack of staffing. Thus the activities which have been organised actually do not take place.
Residents sit in front of the TV for far too long!
But what else can be expected - my mum is having difficulties
in walking so needs staff to meet her ever personal needs, 24/7.

Management always resolve any queries I have about my sisters care.
the care staff are very caring and treat the residents with dignity, the food is of good quality and the chef goes out of his way to meet the residents dietry needs.
The cleanliness of the home is excellent, always smells fresh
and clean.

I visit my friend and neighbour every week for a few hours and overall I have found the care home to be a good one. One minor issue is her wearing the wrong clothes if I don't label her clothes for her correctly, as she has no immediate family and can't talk for herself following a minor stroke as her
speech is affected. The home is clean and tidy and the staff are good and approachable. Overall a good care home.

As Birchfield is open visiting hours, I visit my mum several times a week (different days and times).
I always find her to have been made as comfortable as possible.
The staff are competent and friendly.
After a visit, I come away feeling that she is being well looked after.

Mother, in her 90s, spent 2 weeks here recovering after a stint in hospital. All staff were kind, caring and extremely helpful encouraging mother both to eat and walk. Her room was clean, tidy and well furnished, the communal rooms were also well presented and exceptionally clean and comfortably set
out, including quiet areas for visitors and clients alike. Mother was very happy during her stay and would be happy to return. Compassionate and caring staff. Excellent home cooked food provided by a sympathetic chef who talks daily to residents and tries to cater for all individual needs and requests. Overall excellent, a cut above other care homes where mother has previously spent time in respite care, Birchfield is exceptionally good value. Thank you to all staff, your attentive care has been much appreciated.

I have witnessed excellent loving care of my dear 100 year old friend. She is happy and contented with you. The house - unlike many others - does not smell of wee and boiled cabbage. Events and visits are arranged frequently. I cannot say I wouldn't mind ending my days with you! But not just yet!!

My 90 year Nan, stayed at Birchfield as a Temporary Resident for roughly 8 weeks.
In this time the staff cared for Nan, with compassion and care.
Taking time with her to help her walk albeit slowly but on arrival her walking was non existent. This was wonderful to see again.
As a visitor, there
was an open door policy and I was always made to feel welcome.
Real thought goes into the running of Birchfield, the reception area was often decorated with a theme (Easter, Valentines, Mothering Sunday ).
Little touches make all the difference.

All the staff at Birchfield are approachable, very friendly yet always respectful towards the families of residents. All staff have always shown a caring attitude towards mum and have given her great support in all aspects of her life at Birchfield. She always felt safe and she loved the food! Many
parts of the home have been re-decorated recently and this has enhanced the overall appearance- this is appreciated by the residents.

Birchfield provides a homely atmosphere with well trained and caring staff, maintaining high standards of support to both residents and relatives, who are always welcomed when visiting. Residents are afforded dignity and respect, with individual needs noted, and acted upon together with an open exchange

My mother spent just under 18 months at Birchfield Residential Care Home until the end of her life. I only ever saw her treated with dignity and respect and the friendly banter she enjoyed. With good food and company she thrived until she became ill. It was at this time, good timely medical care was
given to alleviate discomfort but I also observed genuine love and empathy in her nursing care. At the end I could not have been looked after any better. I am full of prise for this care home and would recommend their care to everyone.

Mum had been unwell for a number of years and we were at a stage where we could not keep her safe. Our family was very distressed and visiting at least 6 care homes did not instil confidence - in fact is made us feel much worse - until we visited Birchfield.
At Birchfield we found people who generally
cared about their residents, were professionl and offered support not only to mum, but to the rest of our family as well!
To this day we still go to Birchfield, Easter fairs etc. Our family feel this is the least we can do to repay their kindness and help - we will never forget that they cared for our precious mum - Thank you Birchfield.
