Birchfield Residential Care Home in Blackburn is a family-run home delivering a high level of care at an affordable price.

Birchfield has received consistently good reports from the CQC and Blackburn with Darwen Council making it one of the top homes in the Blackburn with Darwen area.

The home actively encourages feedback from residents, relatives, staff and local professionals which it uses to ensure the home remains focused on offering the best service possible. Regular residents meetings encourage ideas for activities, days out and in house entertainment so the home has a full programme of activities with something to suit everybody.

Menus are continually adapted at residents' requests ensuring home-cooked food, using local produce, remains delicious, nutritious and interesting. The cooks know the residents' likes and dislikes as well as any dietary requirements enabling them to tailor meals to individual needs.

Birchfield offers short (respite) and long stay care and the home recommend a four week trial period to ensure new residents are happy with their choice.

The comfortable and spacious home, set in leafy grounds, provides a relaxing atmosphere. With quiet places to chat with friends and relatives whilst enjoying a nice cup of tea.

Mum had been unwell for a number of years and we were at a stage where we could not keep her safe. Our family was very distressed and visiting at least 6 care homes did not instil confidence - in fact is made us feel much worse - until we visited Birchfield.
At Birchfield we found people who generally
cared about their residents, were professionl and offered support not only to mum, but to the rest of our family as well!
To this day we still go to Birchfield, Easter fairs etc. Our family feel this is the least we can do to repay their kindness and help - we will never forget that they cared for our precious mum - Thank you Birchfield.

I'm very well looked after and have lived here for a lot of years. I love the staff here and have known a lot of them for a lot of years. I'm very happy with my meals and get plenty of choice. I love the activities and trips out.

I think its alright here. The food is very good. I really like the staff because they are friendly and helpful. I enjoy playing dominoes in the afternoons sometimes with the other residents.

I like living here its lovely. Every morning when I come down stairs I always look in reception and think how lovely and clean the home is. I think this everyday. My daughter always comments on how clean it is too. I love the food its always good. I'm very happy with the care I receive from the staff,
management are lovely.

Just like to say a big thank you to the staff and chef for all their hard work on Christmas Day.


The family of residents were invited to join their relatives for Christmas dinner. Although I was eating Christmas dinner later with friends I had a lovely piece of salmon whilst my mum, ate her Christmas

dinner, which mum really enjoyed.
