We had used this care home for Mum's respite on a few weekends prior to being admitted permanently, as she was near end of life and found the staff were exceptional to Mum's needs, always making her welcome as she sometimes didn’t want to stay. When we knew she needed 24-hour care for her last few weeks,
we did not want her in a hospital and they went even further out of their way, we were allowed access at any point of the day even if we wanted to come overnight so she was not alone. Not only did the staff look after her to make her comfortable they also made sure we were, helped us get answers from palliative care district nurses, and got the right medication to ease any pain. The manager and staff are a credit to this home. A big thank you to all of them.
Reply from Luke Jegasothy, Home Manager at Oldfield HouseThank you so much for your review, Gaynor. Helping the family of any resident is always a priority to me and the team, we are glad we could help. Your mum is dearly missed. Take care, and see you soon.

My experience of Oldfield House has been above and beyond expectations, it has been excellent. My mam came in here for respite care every weekend and whilst there became terminally ill. Oldfield House went above and beyond their duties and cared for her. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Each and every
staff member has worked with us to care for her. The home agreed to care for my mam during her end-of-life stages. The manager has also done so much to help sort out my mam's care, to keep her safe and well at Oldfield House when no one else would take responsibility and help. If I, or any member of my family, needed care Oldfield House would be my one and only choice! Nothing has ever been too much trouble.
Reply from Luke Jegasothy, Home Manager at Oldfield HouseThank you so much for your review, Debbie. It was an absolute pleasure to care for your mother and I am glad we could help. Take care.

The most amazing care home with fabulous, caring staff. Always warm and welcoming, and nothing is ever a problem. My nana was so lucky to have spent her remaining time with them. In the fifteen months, she was there, she was given 100 per cent care, attention, and more importantly, love. We wish she
had been there from the start.
Reply from Luke Jegasothy, Home Manager at Oldfield HouseThank you so much for your glowing review. We are so honoured to have cared for your nana, and to give her the care she deserved. She will be missed dearly by all of us at Oldfield House.
Best regards.

So thrilled to see Mum looking so relaxed and content, she feels safe at Oldfield House. Her room is cosy decked out with her personal belongings. The care team are so patient and lovely with her. She loves the home cooked food, especially the puddings. Such a relief for me to see her so settled after
years of anxiety as she battled with isolation trying to cope on her own.
Thank you to all who work so hard to keep Oldfield House running smoothly.
Reply from Luke Jegasothy, Management Support at Oldfield HouseThank you for taking the time to write us such a kind and thoughtful review. My brother is very well looked after, the staff go the extra mile with his care, and the manager is a really kind and caring person. I don't worry about my brother as he is in a very caring environment, safe and secure. All food is homecooked and fresh with choices, and also, I'm always contacted regarding
any issues by the management.

My grandmother has been in Oldfield House care home for nearly two years, she loves being there. Originally she went in for respite and didn’t want to leave. She always says the food is lovely. The girls and managers are great; always very helpfully and informative. Gran loves playing games and having
sing songs and BBQ in the garden in summer. I would strongly recommend this care home, 10 out of 10!

Very caring. They have always looked after Dad and made sure he is well presented when we visit. Staff always have time for a chat. Nothing is too much trouble. Visible indicators from staff as to how much they care for Dad. Compassion shown to me and my sister following the recent loss of our mum.

Why I chose to, firstly place my mum on daycare/respite eventually placing my mum in permanent? It’s a lovely friendly, family orientated atmosphere. Staff are very welcoming and accommodating to both family and service users, my mum is always clean tidy and appears very happy. She interacts with staff
and tells me how lovely and kind they all are, this means a lot to me as my mum was never one for mixing with other people, she’s only ever had one friend that lasted over 60 years and to see her interactions with others is lovely. The management are absolutely brilliant they are also very hands-on which is another plus in my eyes I feel that Oldfield are an extension of our family and is a great weight off my shoulders knowing she is in such safe hands.

My sister was placed in this care home by myself and a social worker for respite after the sudden death of her husband. Upon seeing my sister at home, I had no alternative other than to safeguard her due to neglect and financial abuse. My sister had lost all trust in the family and social services to
act in her best interest. Within 5 weeks of living in this care home, my sister has shown 100% improvement and, for the first time in many years, she is happy, well cared for and trusting of others. This is entirely due to the managers and staff at Oldfield House and I can't thank them enough. Their care and professionalism are outstanding in all aspects.

The care home is run to good standard however the staff never seem to have time to interact with the residents due to the high volume of paperwork they have to get through. I visit my mum nearly every day at different times and when staff aren't feeding or toileting they are straight back to paperwork
the residents just sit with no conversation and no interaction unless people from outside come to entertain them.

My father is well cared for in many ways. He is always clean and not dirty when we arrive to visit.
The facilities are good for him as he always has company and we always have the choice of peace and quiet by going up to the tea room with him if we want to talk and not disturb the others TV.
There
is always staff at hand if we need help with anything. The home is always very welcoming and I feel that they have a variety of activities on for our father. The food is good and we like the choice. If we want to have lunch, e.g. Sunday lunch with Dad, a good oven. My father is happy here and well cared for.

Both the manager and deputy manager, along with the staff are always helpful, friendly and courteous. Have only had issues with one staff member due to her attitude towards my mum but the management responded to my concerns efficiently, appropriately and in a timely fashion and were very supportive
and understanding. The staff and management work hard but I do feel there should be an increased number of staff, to ensure staff are not put under pressure and a laundry worker employed specifically for this purpose would be of benefit to the residents and care staff.

My daughter and I were asked to attend dad's review. We were very impressed with how dad has settled in and is mixing with other residents and taking part in the activities.
We were made very welcome and were asked if we would like a cup of tea or coffee which we declined. When we visit dad everyone
is so friendly and helpful. We have no doubt whatsoever that dad is getting best of care and the choice of care home was the best we could have chosen.

Oldfield House has provided a safe haven for my aunt. She has been treated with dignity, love and care whilst at the home. The only reason for moving my aunt was the location was nearer to her family, following a change in her husband's health and welfare. We are deeply appreciative and indebted to

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.588)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.588) out of 10 for Oldfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Oldfield House is calculated as follows: ( (108 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 128 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oldfield House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
