From making the phone call and having a chat with the assistant manager, I knew that my mother-in-law would be cared for - I had dealing with Steps who came to my home. When she returned from hospital and I asked the carer who came about Oldfield House and her reply was "you could not have picked a
better place".
When I went to view the home the manager made me feel very welcome and the deputy manager who came to do the home visit. I knew my mother-in-law was in good hands. I will be using this care home again. My mother-in-law was treated with care, respect and a member of the family.

I was a little apprehensive at first having read and seen on TV the bad reports about care homes. But this place is like a breath of fresh air. Form the moment the lady came to our home to access my wife she lifted a ton of weight of my shoulders, and from that moment everything went from good to super.
The treatment my wife received from all the staff and management was superb. I will be forever grateful to all of them for looking after my wife.

My grandmother has been in Oldfield house on respite. The staff I have met have been excellent and hard working. I found the rooms claustrophobic, small, dark and not homely, the down stairs lounge is too small and at times cold. The Television is too small. At times the staff are to busy to interact
with the service users. The whole building is like a time warp. Because staff are to busy my grandmothers discharge was bad nothing was ready some of her belongings where missing and she had some clothes that belonged to other people. Whoever does the laundry needs more training on how to wash garments with care.

My nanna had a water infection and was unwell in herself and was very hard to look after and was swearing and a bit unruly due to her infection, but staff were very understanding of the situation and dealt with patience and care.

Rooms require updating, décor in parts of the home need re-doing, signage now visible, grounds now maintained. Standard of care provided by staff still of a very high standard.

At Oldfield House there is always a lovely warm welcome from the staff and residents. I don't have any particular time when i visit my mum, it's usually random and the residents always seem to be eating (LOL) which for me is a good sign that my mum is being cared for, just the way she would have wanted.
The manager and staff always have time to chat and discuss my mums welfare, I can sleep at night knowing she is ok.

When the home was operated by its previous owners it was always clean and tidy, well maintained and residents were treated with dignity and respect. Since 'Runwood Homes' took over ownership of Oldfield House, the home has in improved in respect of visual impact, the care remains at the previous very
high/ excellent standard. This is an outstanding residential home and sets standards for others to follow.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.588)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.588) out of 10 for Oldfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Oldfield House is calculated as follows: ( (108 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 128 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oldfield House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
