Both the manager and deputy manager, along with the staff are always helpful, friendly and courteous. Have only had issues with one staff member due to her attitude towards my mum but the management responded to my concerns efficiently, appropriately and in a timely fashion and were very supportive and understanding. The staff and management work hard but I do feel there should be an increased number of staff, to ensure staff are not put under pressure and a laundry worker employed specifically for this purpose would be of benefit to the residents and care staff.

My daughter and I were asked to attend dad's review. We were very impressed with how dad has settled in and is mixing with other residents and taking part in the activities.

We were made very welcome and were asked if we would like a cup of tea or coffee which we declined. When we visit dad everyone is so friendly and helpful. We have no doubt whatsoever that dad is getting best of care and the choice of care home was the best we could have chosen.

Whenever I have been on respite in Oldfield House I have had the best of care. The staff are polite, respectful and look to all my needs expertly. I have been in another care home and said I would not go back but Oldfield House is like being at home.

Oldfield House has provided a safe haven for my aunt. She has been treated with dignity, love and care whilst at the home. The only reason for moving my aunt was the location was nearer to her family, following a change in her husband's health and welfare. We are deeply appreciative and indebted to the staff at Oldfield House.

From making the phone call and having a chat with the assistant manager, I knew that my mother-in-law would be cared for - I had dealing with Steps who came to my home. When she returned from hospital and I asked the carer who came about Oldfield House and her reply was "you could not have picked a better place".

When I went to view the home the manager made me feel very welcome and the deputy manager who came to do the home visit. I knew my mother-in-law was in good hands. I will be using this care home again. My mother-in-law was treated with care, respect and a member of the family.

I was a little apprehensive at first having read and seen on TV the bad reports about care homes. But this place is like a breath of fresh air. Form the moment the lady came to our home to access my wife she lifted a ton of weight of my shoulders, and from that moment everything went from good to super. The treatment my wife received from all the staff and management was superb. I will be forever grateful to all of them for looking after my wife.

My grandmother has been in Oldfield house on respite. The staff I have met have been excellent and hard working. I found the rooms claustrophobic, small, dark and not homely, the down stairs lounge is too small and at times cold. The Television is too small. At times the staff are to busy to interact with the service users. The whole building is like a time warp. Because staff are to busy my grandmothers discharge was bad nothing was ready some of her belongings where missing and she had some clothes that belonged to other people. Whoever does the laundry needs more training on how to wash garments with care.

My nanna had a water infection and was unwell in herself and was very hard to look after and was swearing and a bit unruly due to her infection, but staff were very understanding of the situation and dealt with patience and care.

Rooms require updating, décor in parts of the home need re-doing, signage now visible, grounds now maintained. Standard of care provided by staff still of a very high standard.

When the home was operated by its previous owners it was always clean and tidy, well maintained and residents were treated with dignity and respect. Since 'Runwood Homes' took over ownership of Oldfield House, the home has in improved in respect of visual impact, the care remains at the previous very high/ excellent standard. This is an outstanding residential home and sets standards for others to follow.

At Oldfield House there is always a lovely warm welcome from the staff and residents. I don't have any particular time when i visit my mum, it's usually random and the residents always seem to be eating (LOL) which for me is a good sign that my mum is being cared for, just the way she would have wanted. The manager and staff always have time to chat and discuss my mums welfare, I can sleep at night knowing she is ok.

Welcome to Oldfield House. My name is Vickie Walker. I have worked for Runwood since 2022. I initially started here at Oldfield House as deputy manager, and I later transferred to Rowena House, purely because it was closer to home.

I progressed to Home Manager in 2023, and have stayed at Rowena till May 2026, and I feel I have come back Home to Oldfield, a home I know well.

I have worked in care for 20 years after caring for my Nannan at home. I am currently working towards my level 5 leadership and management.

In my spare time, I like to spend time with family, especially my grandchildren. Family is very important to me. I like to read, though I do not always get much time.

My door is always open, should you wish to come and say Hi.
