All the staff, in my opinion, have gone above and beyond in taking care of my dad. We are in no doubt that dad was loved by every one of the carers and we would not hesitate in recommending this care home to anyone.

After my grandad had a fall and nobody was around to look after my Nannan, I had to look for emergency care, and Darnell View took my Nannan in, it was so easy and stress-free. My Nannan really enjoyed her stay, and when coming to collect her, she didn’t want to return home. She says she never stopped
laughing from the day she went in, to the day she left. My Nannan has Alzheimer's and can show very challenging behaviour, but I think because she was so comfortable at Darnell View, she never had any problems. The staff are lovely and can’t do enough for you. I can’t recommend Darnell View enough, my nan now has 28 days respite a year, and she will definitely be returning, and I’m sure she’s looking forward to it as well. Thank you so much for being there when I needed you the most to take care of my Nannan.

Dad has enjoyed his stay at Darnall View because he would have been in the house on his own otherwise, and the company was great for him. Staff and management treated him very well and apparently he didn't want to come home. Very pleased.

My late brother resided in Darnell View almost 3 years, he passed away in hospital on May 22nd, we and he was extremely happy as he was in a safe, secure, caring and friendly environment. Everyone there was like his extended family and we were always made to feel very welcome. Many events celebrating
birthdays, Christmas etc with lovely buffets, drinks and entertainment were provided and were enjoyed by all I would recommend Darnell View to anyone knowing it is an exceptional excellent place to obtain from staff and carers every need for people unable to cope living alone anymore.

The staff at Darnall View are extremely caring individuals who perform their task efficiently. The food is of a very varied and wholesome menu. The home, including residents' rooms, is always kept spotlessly clean. Activities are provided, including trips to various places. My dad has been very happy
in this home and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. My personal thanks to all for their hard work.

From my first visit when I was looking for a place for my mum, I was immediately taken by the warm and friendly atmosphere by both the residents and staff. I know Mum is being well looked after and will continue to do so during these difficult times. Staff keep me up to date with any significant news
and am happy with the care she is receiving.

Both my parents are residents of Darnall View. The staff are brilliant and treat them like their own family. Nothing is too much for them. They keep you informed of what is happening and are always approachable. This has been particularly the case during the unprecedented circumstances we find ourselves
in. Highly recommended.

My mum was only a resident for a few months before her death in April (not COVID-19 related). During that time she was very well looked after. She was always kept clean, well-fed and treated with respect by all the excellent caring staff, catering, cleaning and management included. Would highly recommend
this care home.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, the staff have been marvelous in dealing with this and have kept the families updated with the situation at all times. They also arranged for my brother and myself to see Dad on his birthday by bringing him to the patio and we were able to have a conversation, albeit from
a good distance but it was good for both us and Dad after 11 weeks of not seeing him.
Once again I cannot praise the staff enough for their role in caring for my dad and others in this trying time.

Our mum has been in Darnall View for over a year now and from day 1, the care and compassion they have shown is exemplary. Mum's dementia has advanced over her time here and the team adapt to her changing behaviour and find ways of making mum happy and comfortable. They really think about what she might
like, what will make her happy/smile and that can be anything from music, soft tasty meals (not great teeth these days!) a little extra piece of cake or a hot cup of tea. You name it, nothing is too much trouble. All the team are absolutely fab and Mum can be a little challenging at times, advanced dementia is very cruel.
We are very happy to have Mum in Darnall View, we actually feel very lucky.

My Mum lived at Darnall View for the last 3 years of her life: she passed away 1 year ago. She was very happy there and I cannot praise the staff highly enough. She was provided with everything she needed and more. They even offered to nurse her until the end, but she was too poorly to leave the hospital.
I often think about the staff and residents at Darnall View and hope they are all well and staying safe through this crisis.

We have found staff, on the whole, to be kind and caring towards Mum. Mum most times we visit is quite settled. She still seems to be able to laugh and have fun, which is the Mum we remember. She sometimes tells me strange things that other patients have done to her such as kicking etc. I just assume
that is the illness progressing so I just tell her they are perhaps having a very bad day and they don't know what they are doing.

My partner had been at Darnall View for eight months. The home has a real warmth to it with friendly and helpful staff and management. Nothing was too much trouble and they always found the time to talk and discuss any problems. Every patient was treated with the utmost care and I saw a lot of contentment
in other residents. Such a friendly team of employees.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.459)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.459) out of 10 for Darnall View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.559 for Darnall View is calculated as follows: ( (83 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 118 Ratings = 4.559
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Darnall View is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have been working down at Darnall View for nearly 10 years now, I absolutely love my job and could not imagine working at any other care home. I think I speak for all staff at Darnall View by saying that I am probably the loudest carer here! You can hear me before you can actually see me and can probably hear me singing all the way up on the second floor of the home!
