Darnall View

Darnall View is a warm and welcoming care home that has flexible visiting hours and caters to its residents needs fully. The staff are helpful, polite, nice and good for a laugh. Our father enjoys the activities, food and we like how accommodating they are. The facilities are clean and tidy, the building is secure and safe. Overall Darnall View is a wonderful place and we are happy to have our father be cared for there.

Mum's been in Darnall View since October and seemed much happier than when she was on her own in her own house. Unfortunately, her health is declining and may have to move to a nursing home. Hopefully, she will be treated there as well as at Darnall view.

Our initial plan was to move my father to a home closer to us after the 28-day bed assessment; however, we have been so impressed with the staff at Darnall View that we have decided not to do so. Despite a couple of incidents due to his condition, they have all treated him with the utmost care and compassion from the very beginning. When going through such a difficult and upsetting time, knowing he is in good hands is extremely comforting.

My dad went into Darnall View Care Home in September 2021 and was with them until he passed away in September 2022. Moving him to this home was the best thing that we could have done for him. He was in a previous home and ended up in hospital after three weeks and came out a different man. The staff at Darnall View work so hard to make it an enjoyable place for the residents to be. I formed some really good relationships with a few of the care staff and I know how much they loved my dad and loved spending time with him. The lounge is huge and they have the freedom to walk around it and in and out of the corridors if they wish to. Every care home has there issues as none can be perfect, especially after Covid restrictions but I know from the bottom of my heart that we picked the right place for dad to spend the last year of his life. I highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of sending a loved one there.

The entire staff could not be any better - they are all kind and caring, and they are all fantastic. My mother has received great care from the moment she arrived; she is very settled and has made friends with the complete staff. I could not rate this place highly enough.

Since Mum's been in the care home her health has become better. The staff are attentive and caring and interact with the residents all the time. That's important when dementia and Alzheimer's is concerned when I've been down at meal time it smells gorgeous. The food looks and smells wonderful, also the activities that take place are fantastic.

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Mum's condition can sometimes make her frustrated and confused. Staff deal with this with a smile and encouragement and Mum is soon reassured. Her room is clean and the general areas of the home always smell pleasant. I have every confidence that Mum is safe, comfortable and well looked after. I'm extremely grateful to be able to leave her in such capable hands.

I was frightened of what I would find at the care home but immediately realised that it was a good, safe and friendly home to live in. I know my brother can be a handful, so I was impressed at the staff's handling of him - so friendly, gentle and calm. I can say that I honestly think that I don't have to worry about his care and he almost always has a laugh and joke with the staff.

The staff are excellent.

I have visited several times with my brother to see our eldest brother who has been a resident for several months now. He loves it here and I can understand why as all the staff are really friendly and professional and the place feels like one big happy home. We are always made to feel welcome by the staff when visiting and I admire their dedication and devotion to the residents and we always have a bit of a laugh with them. We have spoken to several of them and really appreciate the care they give to our brother always delivered with a smile and a pleasant word. I would recommend this place to anybody.

Nice place to spend the last years of your life, lots of love and care.

I have been in the home for well over a year now and have always found the carers to be very kind and helpful. The accommodation is very good and I particularly enjoy the food that they serve - it is healthy, tasty and easy to eat. I get on well with all the other residents and enjoy the events that the staff organise, especially when I can show them how to dance the Waltz. I feel safe and well looked after here.

My experience at this care home has been nothing but outstanding. All the nurses are excellent and nothing is too much trouble for them as they are always polite and courteous. Every resident likes to talk to every other person. The staff always have a smile on their faces when working.

Excellent care is given by great staff who are fully appreciated by us all. We are fully confident in the care that my father receives and we are confident in any information that is passed to us. We are made very welcome on our visits.

Upon Dad's arrival, he and we were made welcome by the staff. They are approachable and willing to discuss Dad's care and needs. Due to the current issues, there are times staffing levels seem low, but they still try to give good care.

We only stayed for seven days but we found the home just what we were looking for, my wife was given all the help she needed. The staff were excellent, kind and helped us in every way they could, we would recommend this home to anyone who was looking for help in their age.

My husband doesn't feel comfortable with some nurses, unfortunately. All staff are lovely.

The staff at Darnall View have been excellent. They have been fantastic with Dad and us. Always make us welcome when visiting and the place is spotless. Dad loves it in Darnall View and says he feels safe and really well looked after. Darnall View have a really good team and we are extremely grateful for the care and attention they give to both us and our dad.
