I have found the staff at Willow Bank absolutely amazing. My mum has been here for 6 years and the staff have always gone above and beyond to help Mum and us in everything they do. They are a fantastic team from top to bottom and I would highly recommend anyone to send family to be looked after at Willow
Bank. P.S Thanks a million for everything you have done.

Our mother was at Willow Bank for just 11 months. During that time the care she received was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the carers. The senior carers were always up to date with Mum's health care issues and able to brief us when we called in. They also rang us promptly whenever there
was a health issue. Unfortunately Mum's health deteriorated in her final months and she needed much more help and attention. Despite this increase in care needs there was no drop in the quality of the care. When Mum passed away, just before Christmas, the staff gave us all the time, support and care to say our goodbyes. Thank you Willow Bank.

Mum has been ill over the last month or so. Her care at Willow Bank has been fantastic due to the kind, caring staff of which some go above and beyond to cater for her needs. Well done Willow Bank. Couldn't wish for a better place for my mum and staff couldn't be nicer.

All staff approachable, friendly, however there are a handful of staff who go above and beyond to ensure Mum is cared for to a high standard.
Her room is excellent however we provided the wallpaper, bed and carpets. Food could be better however they do try and accommodate the best they can.
Willowbank
would improve by providing better facilities and would help residents if more entertainment was provided.

The staff have created a most wonderful, family-feel atmosphere and there is always laughter and smiles amongst all the staff. They are always willing to assist and I feel I have made new friends amongst them. The patience and empathy they feel for their residents is evident. I would recommend Willow

Both my parents went into the home in August 2020, the first married couple. Covid was a big factor early on. Excellent care from all staff. They made one room a bedroom and the other a sitting room. Very good.

My mum went into Willow Bank in February 2022 after being in hospital for 5 weeks. She had lost two stone in weight in the prior 2 months due to illness. She was uncommunicative and wasn't eating. Since she has been at Willow she has put on all the weight she has lost, she is communicating and socialising
and is happy again. Prior to being in hospital, Mum lived on her own and it became clear she could no longer carry on this way. The staff at Willow have helped both our mum, myself and my brother come to terms with her needing more help and they have been very helpful and kind. The premises are spotless and mum is kept clean and pots of cappuccino are provided at regular times during the day and during meal times. The staff are all friendly and there are lots of events happening to keep Mum busy when she wants to mix. They also put pictures on the Facebook page which I can share with other family members which have put all their minds at rest.

Thank you so much for your kind review. We are delighted that you are happy with the care your mum has received since being in Willow Bank and you can notice such positive change in her, we know how scary it can be to adapt to such change and we are glad we have made this process a happy one.
We are happy to learn that the posts on Facebook are helpful and can be used to share with other family members, this was our thinking when creating the page and are thrilled that social media can be used in such a positive way.
It is a pleasure to be caring for your mum!

My mum is a fairly new resident at Willow Bank, unfortunately, she had to be admitted to hospital 3 times, within the first 3 weeks of her stay. However, the staff were very observant and assessed her needs immediately. On her discharge, she has been very well looked after and is now settling in nicely.
The staff have been very helpful and kind to mum. I am able to take my 2 little doggies when I visit and this brings pleasure, not only to my mum but residents and staff alike. The newly refurbished room is lovely and the food looks delicious. I can't recommend Willow Bank enough! Thank you.

They have been very supportive throughout these difficult times - with Covid-19 - it is very safe here. My mum is content living here. Unfortunately, my dad became terminally ill very suddenly, and spent his final two weeks in Willow Bank with Mum - his care was excellent. The staff were very caring
and supportive toward him, Mum and our family. Thank you!

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.392)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.392) out of 10 for Willow Bank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.729 for Willow Bank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (83 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.729
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.663 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Willow Bank Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.8 = 0.763
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Emma

Emma Fitton

Job Title: Home Manager

Emma does a tremendous job of guiding and encouraging her team to provide quality, person-centered care for our residents in Willow Bank Care Home.
Her compassion and care helps ensure her residents are as happy and content as they are well looked after and that Willow Bank is a great place for residents to live and for our staff to work.

Deborah

Deborah Stewart

Job Title: Activities Coordinator

My name is Deborah and I am a full-time Activities Coordinator at Willow Bank.
I have more than 30 years experience of working in various care settings and I have achieved my N.V.Q. Level 4 in Health and Social Care.
I plan a variety of activities that are person-centered and are of the resident's preferred choice. I like to include activities that provide mental stimulation, social inclusion and that promote self-confidence.
Something I have found particularly rewarding is the link we have established with our local Primary School through the Linking Programme. This has led to intergenerational activities being organised which both the pupils from the school and the residents enjoy. It has been really special for our ladies and gents to keep in touch with the youngsters during Covid and lockdown.
I also plan regular theme days for which I encourage residents to participate and make some of the decorations and help with some of the planning.
It gives me great job satisfaction to see that the activities we provide at Willow Bank provide the residents with a fulfilling and happy life.

Darren

Darren Reilly

Job Title: Activities Coordinator

My name is Darren and I am the activities coordinator at Willow Bank, I work part-time alongside Debbie, our full-time activities coordinator. As well as working part-time I study a Law Degree at university in Leeds.

I have worked at Willow Bank for the past 4 years, a time that I have greatly enjoyed in my role as Activities Coordinator. My role includes planning and preparing daily activities that the residents take part in from Bingo, Quiz's, Gardening, day trips etc.
I enjoy organising and taking part in the different activities that we plan for our residents to ensure that the residents are able to live more active lives and able to keep their minds occupied.
One of the things I most enjoy is being able to take the residents on various trips out so that the residents can relive former past times be it visiting a museum, going to the countryside, visiting the park, or simply going for coffee.
It is great to see the enjoyment that our residents get out of the activities we plan.
