Lovely family day for VE Day! Lots of effort put in resulting in a great time for all involved.
Would be nice to see more of these sort of events organised for residents and family members!
You can see the residents get a lot out of this which is lovely to see!

My mum has been at The Rowans for over 18 months now, and I truly couldn't ask for better care. Having worked in care homes myself-and with Mum having run them-I know how rare it is to find staff this kind, attentive, and genuine. They go above and beyond to make sure she's not just safe, but truly
happy. She's formed friendships, has her favourite carers, and even had her room moved closer to the people she connects with. The staff notice the little things and always take time to share her day with me. Every visit is met with warmth and welcome. It really feels like home, and I'm so thankful she's there.

What lovely comments, thank you. It is a pleasure to care for Mum. At The Rowans we strive to provide a safe and homely environment not just for the people who live with us but their families as well.

Our mum who has vascular dementia says she's in her safe place when we return her back from taking her out for lunch, etc
She has never shown any signs of mistreatment. I never advise when I'm visiting. At anytime I go, mum is well fed, clean, very happy and I know very safe.
The team always show
great care, even when they don't know I've arrived, they can be with mum helping her dress or just sat chatting with her. Sometimes I get there and the smell of food is amazing, I ask if there is any left, which is often fresh made bread, home made cream scones, freshly made meals not tinned things.

Mum's clothes are washed dried and returned to her room. And put away for her

Overall I have no concerns with the Carehome. Mum is the most precious person in the family if we had any doubt that she wasn't being looked after we would have moved her. We have never been given any reason to do this as we trust the carers so much. They are a team of very caring hardworking people

Current Review Score: 7.9 (7.885)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.9 (7.885) out of 10 for The Rowans - Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.133 for The Rowans - Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 45 Ratings = 4.133

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.752 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Rowans - Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.6 = 0.377

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
