Both of my parents have been cared for at Beech House. The thing that stands out for me is the way it is so obvious that the staff really do care for them. Not just for their day to day physical needs but they do everything they can to ensure that they are as happy as they can be. They have gone the
extra mile repeatedly. I don't think my parents chose to do any activities!

The care home staff are very friendly and always make you feel welcome when visiting the home, and have managed to make the new Covid testing as stress-free as possible. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them for either respite or for permanent residential care, they have done an amazing job under
the most difficult of circumstances and I am extremely grateful. Thank you everyone.

I feel communication is a large let down for the care home. Some staff knows things and others don't, or don't want to know. There are delays over shift changes leaving my parents alone. Breakfast is not always the same time as there are no staff or staff are late. Sometimes, my Mum goes fourteen hours
without a drink. She is bed-bound or chair-bound and has to be hoisted into these. A little more time and communication with my parents is required.

While the world was still pondering what to do in the face of Covid-19 you took the brave and right decision to lockdown. It is a testament to you that staff and residents have all been negative. I’m sure this can’t have been easy for you to manage but you have kept everyone safe and not only that you
have put on an abundance of activities to keep everyone entertained and occupied.
It has been difficult not to see our loved ones and give them a hug, which is very difficult for them to understand, my Dad finds it very hard that he is not able to see his beloved wife of 62 years. But this is all for the best of reasons; so that we can see our loved ones again when it is safe to do so. During all this my Mum appears to be happy, she can be seen smiling on photos posted on the closed facebook page and she has even put on some weight. Thank you isn’t enough but a million times thank you to the wonderful Carers and all the staff that make this possible.

Everyone at Beech House has done a fantastic job helping settle my mother into the home at what has been a challenging time. The family are obviously anxious things are right and staff are always so accommodating - as we can't visit or settle my mum in at present it's great that we can phone or they
help my mum phone out - it's never any trouble. This is not a great time for a move like this but Beech House has done all they can to smooth the transition - they are so, so patient as I know my mum will need time to adjust to her new lifestyle. Our brief "socially-distanced" quick "hellos" are safe and sensitively managed by staff, and we totally understand that there is no other way for the time being. The Facebook page is regularly updated to keep us all in the loop. The garden looks smashing from the pictures and a great asset for residents, and it will be great, in time, to be able to sit outside and have a proper natter. Endlessly cheerful, positive and supportive staff.

My mum did not want to go into a care home but needed to maintain her safety. She went in as a trial. Since being there over the past three years or so, she has been so happy and of course, decided to stay. She always tells me that the care staff are really nice to her and she loves the company of the
other residents. She says she has the best of both worlds now, in that she can be on her own in her own private room when she wants and be with others when she wants also. My mum's appetite is not very good but she tells me she enjoys the home-cooked meals that she has. I would recommend Beech House. The cost of this is expensive but is comparable to others in the area.

I represent a group of people, from various churches in the town, who for over 10 years now have taken a monthly service at Beech House. Together with a retired local minister we really enjoy fellowship with the residents. We are always made welcome and the staff are so helpful to us.

Hardest decision ever deciding to put my mum into a home.
It has taken a while but the staff have been amazing throughout a difficult period of mum settling into a new way of life.
I feel completely relaxed knowing mum is being well looked after.
The staff, managers and other residents are all lovely
and I am very grateful for the service they are giving to mum!
Cannot put a price on seeing mum looking well and knowing she’s safe!

My mum is 97 years old and very happy to be amongst others. She does not suffer from dementia but finds moving difficult. She wanted to be at Beech House and is happy. Obviously, there are good days and bad days, but overall very satisfactory. I am very happy and know that she is receiving good care
and I know should there be a problem, she is in the best place and in good hands.

Care and support by staff continue to be exemplary. Mum is so happy. Beech House goes the extra mile for the residents. Recent activities include a trip to the seaside, fish and chips and a stroll along the prom, a party theme of movies where staff give up their own time to be with residents. The local
supermarket sponsor professional musicians, most recently a harpist who created a calming atmosphere. They also have monthly church services and join in local senior alliance activities. Hairdressers, chiropodists give the best possible medical care for the residents. Thank you for caring.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.781)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.781) out of 10 for Beech House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.881 for Beech House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (90 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 101 Ratings = 4.881
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beech House Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
