The Holt Retirement Home is a former Georgian rectory situated in the stunning village of Hutton Buscel, which nestles on the A170 between Scarborough and Pickering.
Experienced and qualified care staff are dedicated to supporting the needs of residents living with dementia.
The home has been sensitively adapted to accommodate the residents in a safe and caring environment. All of the single and companion rooms have been decorated and furnished to a high standard and residents are encouraged to bring in their own pictures, photographs, furniture and ornaments to make the room their own. Wheelchair users have level access to all rooms and the garden.
Residents are offered a choice of menus which are presented each day in pictorial style so residents can have an informed choice of meal. The meals can be enjoyed in the relaxed setting of the dining room, the conservatory with a chosen companion, or in the privacy of their own room.
An activities co-ordinator provides a wide range of activities for the residents to ensure they are entertained, mentally stimulated, and also remain active through physical exercise. Regular events are held in the home and local community which the members of the resident's family are encouraged to attend too.

As the care of my sister is in her son's hands I cannot answer the question of value for money. The Holt Retirement Home is approx 60 miles plus from our home so our visits are not as often as I would like and visits are monthly rather than weekly. However, my husband and I find this home to be very clean and comfortable. The staff are very caring and patient with the residents and also make visitors very welcome with a cup of tea etc. The rooms are large and airy with lots of daylight owing to the large windows and a readily accessible door onto a walled garden for the residents on suitable days, giving a lovely feeling of freedom. What we have seen of the meals have looked nourishing and tasty.
