Riverside Court is a small, family-run home set on the banks of the river Ure in the heart of Boroughbridge.

It is rated as 'good' in all five areas by CQC (August 2023).

Staff take pride in providing a person-centred approach to meet all residents' needs, while the care plans reflect the individuality of each person.

All bedrooms are en-suite and residents are given the option to personalise their room to create a home-from-home environment.

Riverside Court offers nutritious home-cooked meals, using locally sourced ingredients. Menus can be individually tailored and specific dietary needs met.

The in house activities co-ordinator provides a wide range of activities to stimulate residents minds and bodies. Regular outings on either the mini-bus or boat encourage residents to awaken their senses whilst taking in the local scenery.

Mum was welcomed warmly as she entered her new home, each and every one of the staff are compassionate, thoughtful and nothing is too much trouble for residents and visitors alike. Extremely happy with our choice.

Our mother has been a resident since March 2021, she became a resident in the difficult circumstances of lockdown. I can only say that all the staff went above and beyond to help her adjust and settle in at what has been a very anxious time for her. The care they have shown to our mother and all the
family has been nothing short of amazing throughout, even taking the time to email pictures to us of Mum's first venture out of her room into the garden there. Any queries or questions we’ve had have been answered promptly and reassuringly. I have no doubt in my mind in recommending Riverside Court to anyone who asks me, keep up the good work and thank you from the bottom of our hearts

My mother went into Riverside Court in July 2020 during COVID. Staff at the home were very supportive towards both my mother and me during this difficult time.
We were only allowed to visit mum in the garden at that time which mum did not understand and the staff were again supportive and reassuring
with mum.
Unfortunately mum contracted COVID and the staff nursed her with care and dignity and I am pleased to say that although she is 96 years of age the excellent care they gave mum brought her through this.
Nothing is too much trouble for the care staff and the kitchen staff who I know have made tempting dishes for mum during her illness.
I am pleased to say mum is back on form and joining in the daily activities which are provided.
We are still unable to visit mum but we can see her through the window and along with the frequent photos and updates from the staff we know she is happy and well cared for.

Riverside Court is warm, homely and welcoming, the staff and carers go above and beyond themselves to create a unique setting where my mum has thrived going to live there. I feel assured my mum is content through our regular conversations and she is always busy joining in activities - which she never

It is not just the home's location on the riverbank, it is not just the kingfishers nesting by the bridge, not just the character of each room but it is also the staff who go out of their way each day to make life easier to the residents. They do so with a ready smile on their face, time for a chat
is always available. At management level there is time to consider the need for new equipment to ensure the comfort of their family and from the kitchen, there is the offer of something special.
This is as good as it gets with care and safety foremost in their minds during this time of extreme concern.
Just walk into Riverside Court and you will find the warmth and care surround you like a well-fitting glove.

My mother has been a resident at Riverside for 3 years and throughout this time has been extremely well looked after and content. As a GP, I often visit care homes and can honestly say, in my experience, that the care at Riverside is second to none. As well as the lovely surroundings and personalised
care, what has particularly struck me is the excellent teamwork and communication between staff. Whenever I contact or visit, staff members have been hugely helpful, up to date and able to answer questions about my mother: how she is, where she is and what she has been doing. This, in my experience, is very special - and, as a family member, extremely reassuring. I have also been impressed by how well they have managed during the Covid pandemic - working overtime to keep residents safe, whilst not compromising on the quality of the care they provide. I strongly recommend Riverside.

From the first time we stepped in Riverside Court we knew it was the place for mum. The whole building both outside and in is very pleasant and decorated and furnished to a very good standard.
The cleanliness is exceptional. As too us the care and attention are given by the wonderful staff, most of
them have worked there for many years and are all permanent. We visit regularly and are always given a warm welcome and offered refreshments immediately.

My father lived at Riverside Court for almost two years and during his time there he was always very well cared for. His changing needs were always catered for. All the staff are marvellous, showing infinite patience, kindness, compassion and care at all times. They are always friendly and smiling and
really know the residents of this lovely, small home and their families. The home is kept spotlessly clean and in good order. A good variety of regular entertainment is provided, including trips out in the summer. A choice of good food is available at mealtimes, including delicious home-baked cakes in the afternoon; likes and dislikes are well catered for. A real 'home from home' in this family-run care home.

The staff at the home are all very respectful of the residents, treating them with great care, dignity and good humour at all times.
The home itself is a well maintained old guest house on the banks of the River Ure, with a lovely outlook. I could not recommend Riverside more strongly.

When the time comes, you want to know your mum will be cared for in a happy well managed caring environment. Riverside Court delivers on all points. We all feel very happy about the care my mum receives and most importantly my mum has settled in and is also happy! Not an easy person to please!.

My sister just visited this home when looking at somewhere for my 92-year-old mother to stay. She was instantly impressed by the staff and atmosphere. Since moving in my mother has been extremely happy. The staff are brilliant - the facilities great and the atmosphere excellent. I have turned up at
various times and 'never' found anything wrong with the place and the staff are excellent!

I visit mum here every fortnight and so happy to express my gratitude and heartfelt thank you to the most amazing owners and staff that make this gorgeous residence now my mum's permanent home.
It is a fabulous residential care establishment with a beautiful setting right by the bridge and overlooking
the river. The staff here are so personable, they are long term employees with so much empathy giving continuity of care and trained to the highest standard. Cleanliness and hygiene are spectacular! Rooms are gorgeous with ensuites and everything that anyone would need within any home environment. Activities include: arts, crafts and other recreational stimuli. Residents always come first and are encouraged to be downstairs at all times with others, meals served in the dining room are nutritious and families are included if you would like to stay and have a meal with your loved one.

Warm, friendly and clean. Newly decorated, so light. All the staff I have come across were friendly and welcoming. They made me a cup of tea and some freshly baked cake was offered - delicious.

Riverside Court encompasses all that you would want your loved one to have in their home. It is warm, friendly and staff treat the residents with respect.
A homely atmosphere and genuine bonds between staff and residents are obvious on every visit. Residents go on trips into the Yorkshire Dales frequently
and family are invited to be involved on outings.

Riverside Court is a small, homely, comfortable, very friendly and welcoming care home. In my experience, all the staff are kind and helpful. My mother is looked after very well and staff motivate and encourage her to join in with activities, which she enjoys. Mum has a good appetite and I am told she
enjoys most meals. Staff make a point of telling me how well she eats, settles and sleeps at night and things she likes to do as well as things she is not keen on! I am kept up to date by staff. The owners and manager in charge are approachable, willing to help, offer advice and find out information for me. Overall, my impression is one of excellence.

Riverside Court has provided a wonderful home for my mum. I was very worried how she would manage the move from her own flat, as she has dementia and is deaf, with a cochlear implant. However I couldn't have been happier to see how she immediately settled into Riverside.
All the residents are treated
as individuals and she receives excellent, personalised care from all the kind, thoughtful and smiling staff, who also go out of their way to make life enjoyable for everyone.
She has a beautiful room with views over the river and use of a bird feeder outside her window. She even has a pair of guinea fowl which come to her door to be fed. We have been able to put up her own pictures and fill her room with her ornaments and photos so it is just like her old flat.
I can visit at any time and when I do there is always a lovely homely atmosphere, with the residents always very relaxed and smiling. My mum is content, and after trips out is always keen to return to Riverside.

Having had 2 parents in homes so having some experience of other homes I have nothing but very high praise for Riverside, which stands head and shoulders above all others I have seen. The care given by all is of a very special nature and gives me great assurance and peace of mind. This also reflects

I have been most impressed with Riverside Court. My father is very content with his room. The staff are very caring and patient and reacted very well on the two occasions my father fell. When I visit him at lunchtime, I am offered lunch is a separate area which is private and out of the dining room.
The food is excellent. I cannot recommend the staff more highly. The atmosphere is calm and happy. In my opinion, Riverside Court is an outstanding care home that is well managed and that delivers excellent care.

Stephen Jenkins

A partner in the home with his wife Loren and Mother-in-Law, Carole since 1989.


Stephen has a background in the army and has been managing the home for the past 33 years.


In his own words, Stephen has always had an aim to provide a home that would be everything he would look for if it were to be for his own family.


Stephen has a very hands-on approach in the home and enjoys taking the residents on mini-bus adventures as well as making everybody laugh.


In his spare time, Stephen likes to play golf, is a keen gardener and spend time with his family.

Having started as a care assistant, Kate has experienced a variety of roles within the care sector both in residential homes for the elderly, as well as within the community.
Kate is excited to be leading the team at Riverside Court and is keen to maintain the friendly family feel that Riverside Court is known for.


Kate prides herself on being energetic and approachable with a hands on work ethic, whilst ensuring her door is always open.
