Thornton Hill has recently been purchased and renovated (2025)to bring a modern 21st century feel to the 1870's manor house.

A lovely environment is only relevant if the staff are right.

The belief at Thornton Hill is that if staff can enjoy a happy work environment where they have the trust and resources to do their jobs to the best of their abilities, mixed with shining personalities, inevitably the care can be of the highest quality.

Thornton Hill aims for exceptional as standard and will always work tirelessly to ensure the elderly people residing there live fulfilled, happy lives.

My Mother has lived in Thornton Hill for 7 years. She is very happy there and is very well looked after. I have complete confidence in the staff who are friendly. caring and helpful. Mum is encouraged to go out on trips and she joins in the activities despite having Dementia. She loves singing and
dancing too. Her dietary needs are well catered for and I liaise with the Team Leaders on a regular basis. The decor is nice and colourful and on Mum's wing is in Dementia friendly colours. I am very pleased that we chose Thornton Hill.

The staff are kind and courteous, many of them are extremely caring and show patience and understanding of the resident's needs. During this difficult period when I have managed to visit mum she seems happy and well cared for.

Thornton Hill has been all I could expect for the care of my friend, whom I visit twice weekly. If I ever need care I will be happy to come here to live. The boxes are all ticked as excellent which is a true reflection of the care, concern and love given to the residents as individuals.

My father spent his last few weeks before passing away at Thornton Hill. The care he received was excellent. The home is clean and the residents are well catered for. My sister and I spent quite a lot of time there towards the end and the staff couldn’t have been kinder. I have no hesitation in recommending
the care home.

Dad passed away on 21/09/2019. During his final days, the home was excellent and management exceptional. They strove to care for Dad in very difficult circumstances with care and compassion.
However, on some nights of his final week, the standard of care from night staff could have been better.

I had visited three care homes in the area on behalf of my father but decided on Thornton Hill because I was impressed with the ethos of being 'people-centred' and I have not been disappointed.
I was encouraged that if my father wanted to stay in his room that was fine, but that they would encourage
him to join the other residents, which, thankfully he does.
The deputy now the manager was also very enthusiastic about the plans she had for the communal areas, which have now all been completed making the lounge and dining areas ever more homely. On our first visit following the completion my father even suggested we put the kettle on something, he hadn't done in quite a while.
Having settled incredibly quickly into his new life in the home, I am very content that he has company, is safe, well looked after and happy.

My mum has received the kindest care in Thornton Hill. I feel so grateful to the staff for their excellent standards and professionalism. I can get on with my everyday life knowing that my mum is being really well looked after. When I visit, it's always lovely to see her so settled and happy. The staff
are welcoming and the home is always clean and smells fresh. Thank you.

I loved the 'free and easy' atmosphere in the home. The carers were extremely good, always there to help difficult cases with great patience, most of us above ninety years of age. Our meals served to us in the nice dining room with a choice of menu which I enjoyed. And a comfortable bed and room to
go to at night - I slept so well - I can't believe it. Wish I was living there.

My mother had vascular dementia. Through the loving care of every single member of the care team, her last few years were spent in the best possible place. On frequent visits, I could see how much my mother was valued, loved and respected. She was more settled and peaceful than she had been for years.
The care team offered that same loving care to me as I stayed with them as we prepared mother for her death. I cannot praise Thornton Hill highly enough.

I am very happy with the level of care and kindness that is shown to my mother. I know that she is safe and that all her needs are being met. The staff know all the residents' quirks and likes and address them all with dignity and kindness. This is a difficult place to work at but everyone is cheerful
and loving. Thank you.

My friend who I looked after until she became too much for me; She was very happy at the care home, the staff were very good with her. She was quite a character. They always made me very welcome. I visited 2-3 times a week. She was there until her admittance to hospital where she passed away with C.O.P.D.
The staff have been very supportive since her death, I would recommend Thornton Hill to anyone. All the staff are good. Nothing is any trouble, they will try to help you if they can.

My friend went into Thornton Hill Care Home on the 19th of May 2016. She stayed until her death which was on the 5th of February 2017. A week before she died, she was admitted to hospital with COPD where she passed away, she also suffered from dementia. The staff at Thornton House are so caring and
kind. She was so happy there, she loved them all. I was so pleased with her care. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They made family and visitors so welcome. I will miss going to Thornton Hill as they are now friends.

I am in an unusual situation of being a concerned friend of an elderly person. I was looking for somewhere where my elderly friend could be looked after following a minor procedure. From the start of my contact with Thornton Hill I was reassured - everyone was friendly, concerned and supportive. We
took my friend for a "look see" and I will be honest my first test was the smell test and it passed with flying colours - not even the smell of food. She was there for 9 nights respite care and during that time she had 2 appointments back at hospital and one of the staff accompanied her. This was so reassuring as I work full time and 40+ miles away and I know my friend really appreciated the companionship. My friend was very happy with the choice and quality of food and standard of care and she is open to the idea of returning for a bit of a holiday in future. Her room was small and not ensuite (personal bathroom instead) but this was because she was a short term resident.

Hi, I'm Ben, and I am the proud owner of Thornton Hill Care Home and Well Springs Nursing Home.

I joined my father in business in 2015, where I learnt all the roles in the home by performing them alongside our fabulous team. Eventually, I learnt how to play a leading role in running the business, with quality at the forefront of all decisions. Fast forward to 2025, when our small family business bought our second home, Thornton Hill.

I came into care because I love seeing what is possible in a world where, sadly, there are not enough lovely homes. I am involved daily across both homes and always love to meet families that want to look around. I feel lucky to be a part of such an amazing team where we have lots of staff who have stayed with us for decades.

My grandma was looked after by my incredible colleagues for 5 years of her life when she needed that extra support. I trust our staff to try their hardest and let their personalities shine, and that is why we have a lovely reputation as a business that truly cares about the elderly people who need great care.
