I cannot express how wonderful if feels to visit my grandad in such a relaxed, welcoming and informal environment. The staff take time to get to know you personally as the residents family members, and welcome the family on mass for special occasions - even the noisy younger family members! Staff are
attentive, open to suggestions and promptly take on feedback. I feel so much more at ease knowing my grandad is safe, settled and enjoying the company of fellow residents and their visitors. I look forward to visiting soon and taking advantage of the summer sunshine on your roof terrace! Thank you for all you do.
Reply from Ben Redhead, Owner at Thornton HillThank you for your review and especially your comments on adaptability and desire to take on feedback to improve. Your grandad has really settled in well and is starting to see the whole team as extended family. We are very excited about having the weather to enjoy the spectacular views from the roof terrace. I think your visits with grandad, along with the relaxation of that space will be magical. Thank you once again for taking the time to leave this review.

We recently moved my dad into Thornton Hill in Thornton-in-Craven just one day before his 90th birthday and I honestly can't speak highly enough of the experience so far.

Dad had been living at home but was struggling to cope so this was a big transition for all of us. From the very beginning the staff

made it feel like the right decision. They welcomed him-and all of us-with open arms and even embraced his birthday celebrations which meant so much to our family.

The building itself is beautiful, warm and homely and the atmosphere is incredibly friendly more like an extended family than a care home. The staff are truly amazing nothing is ever too much trouble and they go above and beyond to make sure residents are comfortable, happy, and well cared for.
There are regular trips out and activities which have really helped Dad settle in and stay engaged. One of the biggest differences we've noticed is how much better he's eating now he's clearly being well looked after.

Reply from Ben Redhead, Owner at Thornton HillThank you for this lovely review. We are really enjoying looking after your dad and he is such a fabulous character. I am so pleased that you feel so happy with everything at Thornton Hill. Our aim has always been to provide exemplary care in a beautiful setting. In the two months since we have been open it has been a joy to get to know your dad and see him flourish with confidence and improve in health. Thanks again for taking the time to leave this review.

My Dad was moved to Well Springs following many weeks in hospital, for end of life care. We requested Well Springs because my Mother-in-law had lived there before dying 8 years ago. To say it was like going home and seeing old family friends is testament to the culture, management and truly amazing
care team, many of whom recognised us and made us feel so welcome.

The care, compassion and dignity shown to Dad was second to none. Following the handover from hospital we were told by the senior carer that she had never seen anyone in such a state and she spent considerable time ensuring Dad was comfortable, clean and not in pain.

Every single member of staff on entering the room touched Dad's shoulder, explaining who they were and what they were there to do - showing him the respect he so deserved and had none of in hospital. We could visibly see the tension in his body disappear and he relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble.

Thankfully Dad passed away in the best possible place.

Reply from Sue Walsh, Registered Manager at Well Springs Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words. It really was like seeing old friends when you came through the door and we are so glad to have been able to care for your Dad in his final hours. I wish we had the chance to get to know him better and I am relieved that he was able to relax and be treated with the dignity and respect that he deserved. It was obvious that our staff think of you and your family fondly and we were so glad that we could help allay your stress and worries and support you all on this difficult journey.

My Dad spent just over 3 weeks at Thornton Hill following a long stay in hospital.
During that time all the staff were so welcoming, friendly and professional.
Dad was happy there and felt like part of the family. He felt safe, respected and well cared for.
The home is beautifully decorated with so much
attention to detail .It feels like a high end hotel and has lots of areas including a conservatory and library ,ideal places to relax or chat to fellow residents.
On a warm day the roof terrace is a perfect spot to have a cup of tea and take in the amazing views.
The food is wonderful and the chef goes above and beyond to try accommodate and special requests.
I would not hesitate to recommend Thornton Hill and cannot fault their care and attention in looking after my Dad and making him feel happy and secure.
Reply from Ben Redhead, Owner at Thornton HillThank you for your kind words. It was a real pleasure for our team to help your dad after his time in hospital. It was great to see him build up his strength and lift his spirits. He seemed to thoroughly enjoy the company of other residents, especially at meal times and he is already missed by those who live at Thornton Hill permanently. I know your dad is considering his options for the future and it's such a compliment that he says he wouldn't hesitate to call Thornton Hill his home. Thanks again for such a lovely review!

Our mum was cared for under palliative care at Well Springs for the last month of her life. The care staff and managers were outstanding. From the first phone call when Joe assured me that he would sort everything out, we felt confident that our mum had the best care by staff who truly understood the
meaning of 'holistic' care. Nothing was too much trouble and care was never just about the physical tasks that needed to be done. The staff cared for both our mum and us and took the time to understand our situation and support us all emotionally and psychologically. Thank you for treating our mum with dignity and respect in her last days and allowing us some rest bite in safe assurance that her care was excellent. Thank you
Reply from Sue Walsh, Registered Manager at Well Springs Nursing HomeThank you for allowing us to care for your mum; we are honoured to have known such a lovely and genuinely caring person. It meant the world to our team, particularly her former students, to be invited to her celebration of life and to be part of her journey.

I would like to thank Sue Walsh and her team for the excellent care and support they gave to my Aunt during her short stay at Well Springs. Nothing was too much trouble and she was treated with care, compassion and love by all of the staff.
I have no hesitation in recommending Well Springs to anyone
looking for an excellent nursing home.
My Aunt was in hospital and had to be moved to a care home which had 24 hour care at short notice.
I was impressed by the facilities and the care the staff took in showing me the facilities and the rooms that were available. At all times Sue and the staff were very professional and filled me with confidence. Sue also helped me with the discussions with the Council.
On arrival my Aunt was visited by several members of the team everything was explained and great care was take to make sure she was made comfortable. The standard of cleanliness and quality of food was excellent and the staff were outstanding and dedicated to supporting my Aunt .
Reply from Sue Walsh, Registered Manager at Well Springs Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure to look after your Aunt. She was an amazing person and we were lucky to have known her, even if it was for a short time. We try to ensure that not only the resident, but their whole family are treated with respect, compassion and kindness whilst being supported to make the very difficult decision to move their loved one into a 24/7 care facility. We are thankful that you chose our home and that you put your trust in us to care for your Aunt.

On visiting my Aunt on numerous occasions since she became a resident I have been so impressed by the care she has constantly received. The staff are very professional yet extremely friendly and make it feel like it's a personal home environment. The food is amazing and the chefs so accommodating.
Her
room is beautiful so elegantly decorated and to a high standard. The facilities for the residence and visitors is stunning and so welcoming.
The owners have definitely given the home such a lot of consideration regarding the individual needs of their residence. They have a lovely roof terrace where they can enjoy the wonderful scenery as well as a very spacious conservatory. I enjoy visiting my Aunt and seeing her thriving in a relaxed and happy home.

My Mum moved in here more or less when they opened the doors. She was so impressed when we looked around in November that she was happy to wait until the grand opening at the beginning of February. The accommodation is excellent, the attention to detail second to none. A lovely roof top terrace has
been built and it will be fantastic to sit there on warm summer days and enjoy the spectacular views. The food is excellent too. A good variety and always piping hot. However the most important part to mention is the staff. They are wonderful from the owner Ben to the housekeeper Liz. Every member of staff is kind and caring taking time to talk to the residents and get to know them. They genuinely care and it is such a relief to know she is being so well looked after in such lovely surroundings. The manager Zoe has gone over and above to make sure everything was in place for Mum's arrival and has continued to be very hands on ever since. I cannot recommend this care home enough.

I have chosen to leave this review as a thank you to Ben and his team of carers and staff for the way in which they looked after my father, who sadly passed away recently at the ripe old age of 98. He was in their care for nearly 4½ years. They were wonderful with him. My wife and I were regular visitors
(as were the rest of our family) so we witnessed first hand the care given. He was always treated with love, care, respect and kindness. Latterly, he spent nearly all his time in his room and we rarely had a visit where a member of staff didn't look in on him whilst we were there. The warmth of these exchanges was very evident to us.
The staff were welcoming to us as visitors and were responsive to any concerns we raised. We were made to feel very welcome and got to know the staff well. I have no hesitation in recommending Well Springs to anyone facing the very difficult decision of which nursing home to place their loved one in. The home always smelled lovely and clean on entering.
Reply from Ben Redhead, Managing Director at Well Springs Nursing HomeThank you for your review. We loved caring for your dad. He really did make people smile with his shining personality and joyful singing. The staff all loved him very much and we miss him greatly. Your kind words are appreciated and will be shared with all of our staff at our upcoming staff meetings.

My wife has advanced dementia and was very unwell when she moved into Well Springs in May '25. Her condition has now improved greatly and she is eating, drinking, and sleeping properly - all thanks to the dedication and outstanding care and support she has received at WS.

The standard of cleanliness

and the quality of the food in the home is first class and I know my wife is very happy and content there as she is always smiling. The warmth, kindness, and professionalism shown by all the staff towards residents and visitors alike is a wonderful feature of the home. Extras such as arranging birthday cakes, excellent Xmas festivities, and the visiting singers and entertainment for residents all add to the high quality of the care provided by WS. In addition, it is very easy for family & friends to visit, which we greatly appreciate.

Overall, I rate Well Springs as outstanding & have recommended the home to several friends currently looking to place a relative into care.

Reply from Sue Walsh, Registered Manager at Well Springs Nursing HomeThank you so much for the lovely review. It is a pleasure caring for your wife and I know she is loved by all the staff. We always try our best to meet the expectations of families and our residents to provide an outstanding service and it is appreciated when they are able to recommend us to other people who may be looking for residential care. We looked at a few homes before we were lucky enough to find well springs which was by far the best we'd seen. My dad was very unwell when he went there , I was told he had only few months to live yet he was still there nearly 5 years later ! The care and love shown to him there was brilliant and made
me feel a lot better about him having to be in a home . All the staff seem to go that little bit further and dad loved the attention he got . He was treated with respect and dignity. Anyone looking for a care home could not hope to find a better one to take care of their loved one
Reply from Ben Redhead, Managing Director at Well Springs Nursing HomeThank you! Your review is wonderful and we all truly miss your dad. When someone is here for 5 years it feels incredibly different without them around. I use to love our chats in the corridor and he'd often be singing and always in the jovial mood we'd all come to love. He really was a total gentleman in all sense of the word. Thank you for your support as a family. We loved that you could still take him to the coast for the odd weekend. We know how much this meant to him. Once again, thanks for taking the time to leave this review and sharing your experience of what Well Springs is like.

From our very first contact with Well Springs our experience has been excellent. Mum arrived from hospital in a very frail condition and has been treated with care, warmth and kindness by every member of staff. Although still frail her condition has greatly improved, all due to the excellent care she
is receiving. Mum is happy and settled in the home and, as a family, we feel reassured that Well Springs is a fantastic home and the best place for her to be.

Mum moved in to Well Springs for what turned out to be the last 12 months of her long and happy life and the care Mum received could not have been kinder or better.

Mum was wheelchair bound and suffering from Parkinsons, but nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Well Springs is very well resourced

with motivated and well trained staff and this shines through in the care they provide.

It was a huge comfort towards the end to know Mum was surrounded by people who genuinely cared about her welfare, comfort and dignity.

Based on our experience and having had experience of other Nursing Homes, I would not hesitate to recommend Well Springs to anyone looking to provide care for their loved ones.

Reply from Ben Redhead, Managing Director at Well Springs Nursing HomeThank you for these kind comments and taking the time to leave the review. We were privileged to care for your mum. Finding the right home is very tough and I remember from our conversations that it was a hard decision to move mum from her previous home. I am thankful you felt it was the right decision as I knew we could care for your mum the way she truly deserved. Often people settle for "OK" homes thinking all are the same and not realising some homes do truly try their hardest to go that extra mile. Thank you once again for putting your trust in us to get things right for your amazing mum. We loved the time we had with her.

From the very first day of mums arrival the staff were professional, yet welcoming. The staff from management to maintenance are polite, knowledgeable and could not do enough for my mums comfort and wellbeing. They also kept family members well informed of the situation with my mum. I felt that the
staff treated their employment more like a vocation rather than just a job. I honestly do not have anything negative to say.
I would highly recommend Well Springs Nursing Home to anyone who wants to be reassured that their loved one is being well cared for and respected for the individual they are.
I also thank them sincerely for the empathy shown to myself, family and friends who visited my mum during her last day with us. As said previously this care home goes above and beyond if they can.

My mum went into Well Springs Nursing Home just over a year ago. From her very first day she has been treated with care, compassion and lots of love. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and even though they are all very busy, they still have time to chat with the residents and their families.
The home is bright, clean and has a lovely atmosphere from the moment you walk through the door. It feels like you are part of a big happy family! The range of daily activities offered are good and are enjoyed by the residents. Families are encouraged to join in too! The gardens are well maintained, with seating areas and a lovely pond to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone at Well Springs for all you do. It is very reassuring that when I leave I know mum is in the best place possible.

Reply from Ben Redhead, Managing Director at Well Springs Nursing HomeThank you for your review. My wife's mother had a spell in several homes, but Well Springs Nursing Home was the best by far - an excellent place that truly stands out for its high standard of care and genuine compassion. We found the surroundings peaceful, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed to provide a calm and pleasant

What really makes Well Springs special is the management and staff. They are not only professional and attentive but genuinely kind-hearted. Every member of the team treat my mother-in-law with dignity and respect, and met her needs with patience and understanding.

Well Springs is a gem of a nursing home. The atmosphere is one of genuine community. As I pushed mum's wheelchair around the grounds last weekend (mum loves to look at the flowers and the birds), residents waved and staff beckoned to join them on the terrace for an ice lolly. Mum and I have spent a
life-time taking care of one another. At nearly 92, after a stroke on top of dementia, we could no longer do this alone. Being there, for the both of us, is like having an extended family around us everyday. In choosing Well Springs, I know in my heart that mum is in the best of all places. Thank-you Well Springs staff. You're awesome!
Reply from Ben Redhead, Managing Director at Well Springs Nursing HomeThank you for this review and trusting us to care for your mum the way she deserves. She is a lovely lady and we are so lucky to be able to help her in her time of need. I know your mum means everything to you and this is why this review speaks volumes. We often get the "extended family" comment and this is because we have such great staff tenure and retention that it is the same people, day in, day out that get to build and harness those relationships. So many of our staff truly love their job! This inevitably has a positive impact on the care we can provide at Well Springs. Thank you for your review. I will share it with the team.

My Granny moved to Well Springs from an alternative care home last year. I was so impressed from the initial visit and can honestly say it's the best move we have made. The staff are so lovely and welcoming. Communication from the Management, in terms of what's going on in the home is regular and
much appreciated. All the staff really do go that extra mile, for not only my Granny but all the residents. It feels very much like a family environment, I've got to to know so many of the residents and staff too which is lovely. They have a monthly activity board with a variety of different activities and great that as a family we can join in and be involved in too! The home itself is in lovely grounds where you can take your loved one outside, it's very modern, clean and well maintained. It's really comforting knowing I can leave the home after a visit and know that she is happy and most importantly well looked after and safe. I would highly recommend Well Springs.

Well Springs Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Well Springs Nursing Home is exceptional and quite unique. When looking for a home for our mother we wanted the best possible care in a pleasant, stimulating and homely environment. The care given to all residents at Well Springs is outstanding and quite inspirational. Nothing is too much trouble and
all staff are deeply committed to each resident's individual needs and wishes. The ethos and culture of the residents being at the heart of everything they do pertains to all staff - management, nursing, care, cleaning, catering, maintenance. Well Springs is situated in beautiful gardens and is very peaceful. The interiors are more like those of a hotel than a nursing home! I cannot thank them enough for all they are doing for my mother to ensure she is happy, contented and well cared for. The progress she has made since her arrival has been amazing and far beyond what we could have hoped. This is all down to the care and environment at Well Springs - well done and thank you, to you all!
Reply from Ben Redhead, Managing Director at Well Springs Nursing HomeWe really appreciate the lovely review. Thank you so much. "Exceptional and quite unique" is a wonderful description as I would say it perfectly captures the approach of a lot of the staff who love what they do here. We have loved the last 9 months of looking after your mum. She is a bundle of positivity and I believe that's played a huge part in her progress. She amazed me when I saw her back on her feet for the first time with us. Her wink to me when i shared my disbelief summed her up perfectly. I know you tell the team a lot anyway but I will pass on your thanks by sharing this review. Thank you!
