Ivy Lodge “where you feel at home… not in a home”: This is a motto at the heart of the home’s philosophy. A caring team understand how worrying and stressful it can be to move into a new home but they work with residents and their families to help them settle in whilst at the same time encouraging them to lead an independent life around the dignified, compassionate and person centred care provided.

Ivy Lodge is a long established, family owned and run retirement home. Formerly an Edwardian farm house, the building has undergone extensive development and has been recently refurbished to provide light, spacious and comfortable accommodation of a very high standard.

A warm, dedicated and long serving team of carers are totally committed to the well-being of residents and actively encourage and help them to lead full and independent lives.

Carers ensure a full range of stimulating activities is provided from crafts classes and sing-alongs to theatre trips and excursions to local places of interest.

A dedicated GP from the local surgery conducts a regular surgery within the home and both Chiropodists and opticians visit regularly.

The kitchen provides delicious food with the emphasis on traditional cooking and home baking using the best seasonal produce available.

After spending respite at Ivy Lodge, my 93-year-old mum is now a permanent resident. I, myself, am a qualified nurse, having varying experience with residential care homes. I cannot praise the complete team enough for creating such a loving, caring environment. A varied nutritional menu is offered with
flexibility for each individual. A wide programme of activities and events is available, but with plenty of quiet, rest periods. The residents look well cared for and very presentable.
There are no negative odours when entering Ivy Lodge, which speaks for itself. The interior and exterior are very well presented with loving care. My mum can and does thank her lucky stars that she is "at home" in Ivy Lodge.
It would be my personal choice any day.
Well done to the whole team for creating a unique, caring, homely establishment.

I have worked in the social care sector (in a different authority) for almost 40 years so know a good place when I see one and would have no hesitation in recommending Ivy Lodge. It is without doubt an exemplary place to live. Despite the difficulties posed by Covid the whole place still ran like clockwork
and we were kept informed of all developments - The owners and managers are present on a daily basis, and 'muck in' when they need to so are fully aware of the needs of every resident.
The home and grounds at Ivy Lodge are immaculate and well maintained. It is obvious that a great deal of finance is ploughed into the business to keep things at such a high standard.
The care itself is of the highest quality and delivered with great compassion and understanding.
I am fully aware that my mother could be difficult to deal with but at all times she was treated with care and respect by very patient and professional staff.
I hope when my turn comes I can find somewhere like Ivy Lodge.

My mum moved into Ivy Lodge in February 2020 just before Covid restrictions. The care our mum has received has been second to none. Having watched the videos and pictures of all the in house activities and entertainment arranged and carried out by the staff, totally brilliant! Ivy Lodge has managed
Mum's health extremely well and has also been able to help her gain weight which she desperately needed. We cannot praise everyone at Ivy Lodge enough for the outstanding level of care.

I cannot recommend Ivy Lodge enough.
They have been wonderful and accommodating from him going to view, to moving in, to living there for the last 6 months.
The owners, management and staff are brilliant.
Always keeping us relatives updated on anything we need to know. They are cautious, careful
yet realistic in their management of covid.
My dad loves it, he is always raving about the wonderful staff, how good the food is, and his lovely big room. Residents have loads to do if they want to join in or can sit in the quiet lounge and read. Also, a lovely enclosed garden if you like a bit of fresh air.
I and my sister feel so grateful to have found somewhere so wonderful for our dad at what was probably the most distressing time we had been through as a family.

We were worried about Mum going into a care home, especially in the present times but we had heard such good reports about Ivy Lodge and we were lucky that a room was available just at the right time. We had no need to be concerned, Ivy Lodge is a lovely place, it’s homely, spotlessly clean, very caring
and all the staff we met were the same. Nothing was too much trouble and Mum wasn’t just looked after she was made to feel part of “a family”. Mum was a little apprehensive going into a care home because a long time ago someone she knew had a difficult experience in one, however, she herself said she was so pleased to have experienced Ivy Lodge as she couldn’t fault it and she felt cared for and looked after. All the staff she saw made her feel secure and safe. The inside of Ivy Lodge is cosy with lovely furnishings and the residents' rooms are the same with fresh flowers regularly being brought in. We would have no hesitation in recommending Ivy Lodge to anyone.

Having worried about putting my mother into a care home in January we now all look back and think this has been the best thing to happen to her. My mother is happy, relaxed and feels totally at home in Ivy Lodge. The care is wonderful and all the carers are attentive and friendly and she thrives on
the day to day contact with a variety of people. The food is really good and my mother always informs me when I ring that she's had a lovely day so what more could you ask for. Would certainly recommend Ivy Lodge to anyone looking for a "home from home".

Mam moved into Ivy Lodge 14 months ago and she’s always telling us how all the staff are so kind and very hardworking, and we wholeheartedly agree.
As soon as you enter the building you notice a friendly, ‘homely’ atmosphere, so different from the ‘institution’ feeling I’ve experienced on visiting
other care homes.
A full programme of wide-ranging activities, visiting entertainers and trips out has obviously been suspended, but all staff have gone above and beyond in organising and participating in in-house events ranging from their own choir to a beach party, as illustrated on Facebook.
Communication with residents’ families is excellent and overall Mam could not be better cared or catered for.

My auntie has been in Ivy Lodge for just over two years now. She is really happy and well cared for. She joins in with all activities, all staff are really friendly and helpful.

Ivy Lodge is a wonderful care home and Mum has been very happy here since she moved in last July. The staff are always very caring, friendly and welcoming.
Everywhere in the home is immaculately clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable.
The meals are freshly cooked on the premises and smell
delicious. Mum has put some weight back on through having such good food and is feeling much better and stronger as a result.
There are lots of activities to get involved in such as singing, exercises to music, crafts, flower arranging, painting, quizzes and trips out to keep the residents entertained.
The manager and deputy manager are very helpful with any questions or concerns that I may have.
I feel very lucky that Mum is in such a wonderful home and grateful for the excellent care she receives.

If all care homes were as loving and giving as Ivy Lodge nobody would ever have a fear of having to move to one!
This really is a home from home and the whole Team go that extra mile every minute of every day to make sure there’s dignity, chuckles and smiles and exceptional care 24/7.
The activities/
entertainment are very good with lots of opportunities for outings etc so no excuse for being bored here!
The facilities are excellent and we couldn’t wish for Mum to be anywhere better and Mum is very happy and content here.

Ivy Lodge feels like a home with a beating heart. The staff are all kind, helpful and flexible - nothing is too much trouble and I'm treated as an individual. Ivy Lodge is welcoming to visitors and family alike. I'm encouraged to go out with my family, but at the same time, there are lots of activities
organised by the home if I wish to participate. I have a nice room of my own and the food is good.

The care that my mum receives from all the staff is brilliant. Mum went into Ivy Lodge in September and has now settled well and feels apart of the Ivy Lodge community.
They always call me with any change, concerns or if Mum has said something and they need clarification.

Dad has been resident since April 2019. It did take him a while to adjust (let's face it, leaving your home/familiar surroundings and his fantastic neighbours is a very daunting experience) but the staff at Ivy Lodge are one in a million - very dedicated and a warm, close-knit team. They do everything
in their power to accommodate Dad and always go that extra mile. A very warm, clean, comfortable place - home from home feel with smells of home-made cooking, freshly made desserts and cakes - amazing! An added bonus!

Since arriving at Ivy Lodge on 30/5/19 I have received excellent care and attention and made very welcome. Being a diabetic, diet is important, and this is strictly carried out with excellent meals, resulting in improvement in my health. There are activities to suit everyone, and regular outings etc.
Cleanliness is a priority and excellent rooms are regularly cleaned. Washing and laundry service is available. Every need is met.

Mum had been very isolated prior to her moving to Ivy Lodge and very anxious, but the staff are wonderful, extremely caring and have really helped her to rediscover her concern and empathy for others, it's lovely to see. The activity programme of activities has helped to enrich her life also. The craft
bowls has been a great success as she has always had good hands/eye coordination. I do think she feels happier now than she has done for years.

Ivy Lodge is traditionally decorated and furnished, rather than too modern, but dressed with a personal touch giving a classy yet homely feel. The entrance hall is always attractive, displaying seasonal themes or relevant calendar events, often with items produced by the residents, which in turn keeps
them up to date with current events.
As there are only 34 residents the home has a more personal and family atmosphere and is always clean and fresh with no unpleasant odours.
All staff are personally selected, not agency, and are friendly and caring, treating the residents with dignity and kindness, including the management, who are very much hands-on and not invisible. Any queries or requests are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
There is a varied and imaginative programme of activities and outings which are managed safely and efficiently and, most importantly, with fun and laughter. One-to-one time is available if requested and suggestions and involvement from family and friends is welcomed and encouraged.

My elderly mother has lived in Ivy Lodge for over 2 years, and during my many visits, I am always so impressed by the genuine care that is so evident from the staff towards the residents, who are treated with respect and dignity. It is evident from the home's atmosphere and culture, that both the owners
and the staff are committed to the well-being of all the residents. This reflected too in the varied programme of activities and visits, designed to engage and stimulate the residents.
