Overview

The Review Score of 9 (maximum of 10) for The Old Vicarage is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Old Vicarage in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.7 for The Old Vicarage is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.7

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.306 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old Vicarage is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 7.2 positive Reviews (36 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 7.2 Target = 0.556

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

A lovely caring home. The staff are excellent and always make you welcome when you visit. You can call in at anytime and visit.
Overall, I recommend to visit and see all the people who seem very much at home.

I am pleased that my husband is in the above home and hopefully, he is now settling down and is less frustrated with his life.

My mother recently passed away peacefully at this home, after living there for a couple of years. She had Alzheimer's disease. The staff made her last years happy and comfortable, in this very clean, happy home. There were activities and outings, which I know she really enjoyed, and she visibly thrived, notwithstanding the awful disease she was suffering from.

We'd had a bad previous experience elsewhere, which left me, as well as my mother, very wary and anxious. The staff were very patient and considerate with me too, allowing me to regain my trust and knowing my mother was happy and in good hands. Thank you all.

My mother only went into this care home on 29/4/16 but she has settled in very quickly. She was only diagnosed with dementia in February 2016 but on reflection it has been coming on for a while. The staff at the care home have helped her to settle in and have given us peace of mind that she is as happy as possible.

First impressions are of a modern (recently renovated to a high standard) light, airy and warmly decorated building. This is the only residential care home for elderly residents I have been in, spotless, where there is no smell of urine or of elderly residents. Mum (and I) made to feel very welcome. Genuinely interested in mum's health and well being. Staff caring and supportive while bringing humour and warmth in their professional interactions with mum. Mum said she enjoyed her stay and would like to go back again. The Old Vicarage is maintained and run to a very high standard - outstanding. Thanks.
