Overall Experience

We chose Marine Park View because it feels like a family home. It doesn't feel like a hospital, which a lot of the bigger sites can do. The site location is amazing, being located near the coast and next to a park. Taking Mother out for walks in her wheelchair was a family favourite for visits. As Mother's mobility declined then equipment was supplied, even providing a hoist when she became too fragile to lift manually. The staff are caring and capable. The management is friendly and approachable.

Overall Experience
I first came to this care home 2 months ago on behalf of my grandad who was not doing very well at the time. I walked in off the street without making an appointment (very naughty of me I know) but the manager made me feel most welcome. She talked to me through the full process and showed me around the care home along with my 2 children. This instantly put my mind at ease as there was no time to prepare for my visit and I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the residents were and content in their surroundings. My Granddad became very ill during our 2nd visit so we moved him in immediately; again, with no notice or time to prepare the staff knew what needed to happen and instead of putting obstacles in our way, everyone bent over backwards to make this happen with as little discomfort as possible for my Grandad.

I would like to thank Marine Park View so much for all the efforts made by the staff, you guys are doing a great job!

Dad has been in this home for a couple of months now. I've waited to put on a review as I don't live locally, although when my and sister visited a number of number of other local homes I have to say this felt like it was a home from home somewhere where I hoped dad would eventually settle.
Dad has always loved the sea being a fond canoeist so the views over the park and to the sea were ideal. Also holds lots of family memories being in this area.
The managerial and hands-on staff on visiting day made him/us feel so relaxed and welcoming. Caring open and honest.

As the weeks passed they got to know Dad's needs and his triggers. There is a fantastic mix of qualifications, experience and personalities amongst the staff to make sure your family member receives the best care. They take time to see how you are too, even my pet dog. Nothing is too much trouble. If your relatives need any equipment they are on it straight away. Being here we know Dad is safe and his mental health is on the up.

Initially chose this home for its location opposite the park and near the sea and also because it wasn't a purpose-built care home. Also, I knew someone who had previously had a relative in there.
Dad's room is a good size with a large bay window. Looking out from it brought back a lot of memories for him. Great views from most of the windows there.
Plenty of food is supplied with a great variation on the menu. Dad never complains about being hungry
Visitors are welcomed in a very pleasant manner. The staff normally find somewhere for the residents and visitors to be able to sit and talk in a more private situation. Due to my Dad getting quite a lot of visitors we joke about changing the music room to being called his room.
The staff are all very friendly right across all job roles. Speaking personally, the staff have been a godsend to me. They recognise when I am feeling upset, stressed etc. I appreciate their chats, cuddles, cups of coffee and just general concern.

Glad we found this place.

Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident at Marine Park View for over 3 years. Since the home came under new management earlier this year I feel that communication, care and general well-being of my mum has improved greatly. The new manager is a lot more approachable and friendly and seems to genuinely care about the residents (management prior to this were quite unapproachable.) We were looking into moving my mum to another care home due to issues raised by CQC following their last inspection (issues that we were unaware of prior to this.) The home has improved so much in the last few months, care staff and management are now very friendly and approachable and always assist with any concerns that we raise. This gives us peace of mind that my mum is being well cared for and she seems content here.

Reply from Paul Smith, Director of Care, Quality and Operations at Marine Park View

Thank you, Carol. It is always good to know when we are succeeding in our aims. I am incredibly pleased to note that the things we are doing following the issues of a year ago are being addressed well, are consistent and are having an impact and that the new management structure, the new home...

My mam loves it here. She speaks very highly of all the staff. She is always well turned out with regular haircuts and always has her nails done, which she loves. I find the staff kind and helpful, and always answer any questions I have. My mam is always chatting and laughing with the staff, and I feel like they understand her mood well and manage her appropriately. I'm happy with her care.

Thank you, Donna, for such a lovely review. Our team will be delighted that you are happy and content with your Mams care. My cousin has been a resident at Seahaven for approx 13/14 years now. I have always been happy and satisfied with the care provided. She is always clean and tidy; she has regular showers daily. Staff pay good attention to her countenance and skin problems. Good liaison with GP and nurses as needed. Her room is kept in clean and tidy condition. Staff always have appropriate answers to any queries I may have. They encourage independence as much as possible. I also notice good interaction/supervision with other residents too. Bottom line - good physical care provided.

Absolutely lovely staff, warm, considerate, attentive and genuine. I had to place my loved one here for two weeks and felt reassured from the very start with all the smiling faces. They ask many questions before accepting any new resident, even on a short-term basis, which l liked. Loved the atmosphere saying "hi" to staff and residents walking around the building, which is old but warm and safe. One of the nurses has had her own Mum living there for years, which speaks volumes about the quality of care on offer. Would not hesitate to repeat the visit if necessary. No hesitation in giving this one ten out of ten!

Could you tell us when the residents go out in the minibus (we were told the care home has one for residents)? And when they go across to the park, please. As my mother-in-law has been there nearly 12 months and we've not seen a minibus or heard about them going out, even in the back yard.

Reply from Dr Vivek Gupta, Director at Marine Park View

Thank you for your feedback regarding Seahaven. We understand you have raised this issue and we have explained that a minibus is not a service the home has offered or advertised but as we move out of Covid and restrictions ease, we will definitely look at your constructive feedback moving forward....

My sister has resided in Seahaven since August 2021. In that time, l have put my trust in everyone working there (on every level) and feel that some have become my friends. The care is excellent, and l love the comfortable, relaxed atmosphere from entering the front door. My sister has settled in well and now classes it as home; this in itself gives the family peace of mind.

Thank you to the manager and all you’re lovely staff.

A few weeks ago my aunt had to have a stay in hospital. She was wasting away without the care she’d been used to at Seahaven. Fortunately, we were able to get her back to the home - but were not hopeful she would make it. The care and attention she received are nothing short of miraculous. She is now walking unaided, putting on weight and most importantly, happy. Thank you to all the staff here! You are unseen heroes in our family's eye.

We moved Dad into Seahaven during the pandemic to be closer to family. With myself living in Australia, I was unable to be part of the selection process. Over six months later, and at the first opportunity, I was able to get over to see Dad, his new home and to meet the staff. My first impression of this facility and the lovely kind-hearted people who look after our precious father, with such care and dignity, was 5*. Dad too is always full of praise for all the staff and carers, the facility, meals, etc... In his words, "I'm in the best place I could possibly be in". In the short time I spent with Dad and the interaction I had with the staff and carers, I second that. All the staff were so accommodating during my visit, allowing me to spend as much time as I wanted with Dad, taking him out whenever we wanted, for as long as we wanted, nothing was a problem. Dad is happy, content and comfortable, and in that, I feel so much more relaxed with how things are.
