Ingleby Care Home prides itself on the care and attention given to residents and their families. Carers concentrate on getting to know you and your loved one, enabling them to look after physical needs and more importantly delivering what emotional support you and your family need.

They accept that choosing a care home is one of the most difficult decisions a family member or advocate can make and are here to help you through that decision, through the move in and beyond.

Excellent care is the key objective of each of the team members. Caring for those who can no longer look after themselves is what they do best, with an approach that takes into account that although there will be aspects of daily care and activity that residents could not manage at home, carers continue to encourage independence wherever possible - thus enabling residents to make the most of what they can do on a daily basis.

They support an active lifestyle alongside professional care as part of their core mission, they endeavour to ensure that both residents and visitors enjoy their time spent at the home. They have all of the usual benefits of a care home, including en suite rooms, excellent communal spaces and areas for residents to enjoy quiet times.

They also offer excellent activities at the home, which offer stimulation and engagement to all residents. The activities co-ordinator works with individuals to ensure that they offer activities that will suit each person and sometimes this means that one to one activity is more appropriate than group activities.

Today's experience due to COVID 19 was the best it could be, meeting my Uncle in the garden went better than expected.

I have attempted on several occasions to arrange an appointment over the telephone, to visit my Granddad who has, since Covid19, deteriorated in his health. Staff including the manager have been very confrontational with me and negative over the telephone making it impossible for me to arrange this
and telling me that other residents need to see their relatives before I can. The manager would not give out name and even hung up on my conversation. I have been very distressed and upset by their lack of empathy and compassion and l have been left feeling very upset and nervous of any future contact I make with staff from the care home. Previous to Covid19 I was a regular visitor of my Granddads and feel both my Granddad and myself have been let down by staff.
Reply from Carol Singleton, Home Manager at Ingleby Care Home

We were very surprised to see your review and can only express our sadness that you feel the way you do. The members of your family have done nothing but praise our home for the way that we have ensured the safety of your granddad and all our residents during the pandemic. Your granddad is safe and cared for with empathy and compassion by our care team, he is in robust health and has been able to meet his relatives in the gardens at the home. We have made every effort to arrange visits with your granddad but the fact remains that you did not attend the last meeting leaving him confused.
We are always available to discuss any concerns you have calmly and will always endeavour to act in the best interests of the residents in our home.

My mum has only been in Ingleby Care Home for a few weeks. She is really well cared for by staff who are friendly, respectful and kind.
The transformation in my mum, compared to how she was living at home with carers visiting is immeasurable. I put this down to the level of care, nutrition and social
interactions she has now.
The anxiety I felt all the time during my mum's last few months 'living independently', has completely gone. Although my mum may not understand why she can't go home, I know that Ingleby Care Home is definitely the best place for her to be.

Looking for residential care for a loved one is difficult. Everything is a compromise and sadly it will never be the same as home. We chose Ingleby CH, the atmosphere is homely, happy and relaxed. Care is excellent, food good and varied and residents are treated with respect and their dignity maintained.
In house activities are good and numerous outings thoroughly enjoyed. I wish my social calendar was as full as theirs! The staff are not only excellent with the residents, but with our family too, very important. They listen to us and communicate with us so we know what is happening. Ingleby CH feels like home, small, personal and not institutionalised.

My husband was cared for extremely well, also said that the staff both upstairs and downstairs, night and day staff were both professional and encouraging towards his recovery which is virtually complete. My mum had a tough time having lost her husband (my dad) prior to admission and I couldn't be happier with the level of care, friendliness and professionalism at Ingleby. My wife did a number of blind visits as we were choosing a facility and Ingleby was by a long way the best and we've never had a
concern since. Top rate!

The level of care given to mum is excellent. All of the staff and management are very caring and friendly and they make every effort to make daily life as pleasant as possible for the residents. There are plenty of activities for the residents to join in and everyone is treated as an individual with
dignity and respect.

My mum has been in this care home for one week now. She has been unsettled but the staff have gone out of their way to reassure my mum regarding various issues. I am hoping she will settle with the reassurance of the lovely staff at this home.

I came into the care home quite poorly, after several months, I have improved to the point where I am leaving soon for supported living.
The care support I have received helped me to become more independent and my confidence has improved greatly.

In the short time my wife was in the care home she could not have hoped for better treatment. Despite her being a difficult person to deal with nothing was too much for the staff to deal with. They were all very professional and dealt with all unpleasant tasks promptly and without complaint and I would
recommend this care home to anyone else who finds themselves in my situation. Many thanks to all the staff.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.553)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.553) out of 10 for Ingleby Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.849 for Ingleby Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (91 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.849
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.704 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ingleby Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.2 = 0.804
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
