My mother moved into St. Aidans in 2023 after her previous care home closed down, making the call to St. Aidans was the best call I have ever made
Everyone made her and the family welcome. The staff looked after her with care and dignity, she was monitored regularly regarding her health, I live in
Scotland the care home staff would call me with any updates regarding any health and medication issues, they were also happy for me to call them at anytime.
My mother passed away on 20th May 25, the family were able to stay with her at St. Aidans for the last 36 hours of her life.
The management, cleaners, care staff, district nurses, office staff and everyone who plays a part in the running of St. Aidans were all amazing nothing was too much trouble for them, due to their care my mother was able to have a peaceful death surrounded by her family.

Mam was fortunate enough to be offered a place at St Aidan Lodge in July 2024 for what was initially a temporary residential placement following a setback in her health. It was quickly established that this would become her permanent home as she was no longer able to live independently. This was very
difficult to come to terms with but I distinctly remember the Manager and a member of her staff tell me to go back to being Mam's daughter and they would become her carers and look after her. Without exception all members of staff look after Mam extremely well and I feel reassured she is being well cared for, often spoilt and pampered and tells us as family how happy she is to be living there and how lovely all the staff are. We feel so blessed that Mam is being kept safe and all of her needs are seen to on a daily basis. In my opinion this has to be one of the best in the area and I'm so happy and content leaving my Mam in the hands of staff. Well done to all and thank you .

My mother was admitted to st. Aidans in Jan 24 after a bout of pneumonia. At 98 it was decided she couldn't stay in her own home. I already had 2 recommendations for the home and we weren't disappointed. Everyone made mam and us welcome. The staff looked after her with care and dignity, she was monitored
regularly regarding her health. Early this year she was not well & had pneumonia again. Staff cared for until she died.

Our Mam spent the last week of her life here and we couldn't have chosen a warmer, caring friendly place. After a short stay in a different care home which resulted in month's spent in hospital, we couldn't fault the staff in any way. A very comfortable room and a warm, caring environment. Sadly Mams
health had deteriorated so bad, it turned into end of life care. The staff looked after Mam and treated her with dignity and respect and genuinely cared for her. We were made feel very welcome and appreciated the support and care from the staff towards us too. If you have a loved one that needs to go into care, I cannot recommend St Aidans enough. Thank you to all the staff. X

Where to start, my Mam was recently in St Aidans, where she sadly passed away, i can honestly say if she couldnt be at home this is the next best place to be. Home from home! Every single member of staff treated not only my Mam, but the wider family with care, compassion, dignity and respect. Nothing
was too much trouble, it is a lovely cheerful, clean, bright and warm place to be, where everyone counts. The room are large and cosy and the atmosphere is warm and friendly,
I am sincerely very thankful we decide on St Aidans, you have restored my faith in the caring profession. Thank you each and every one of you for helping to make a very sad and difficult tiime a little easier.
It will always be much appreciated.

St Aidan Lodge Residential Care Home feels very homely and comfortable. The bedrooms are a good size and there are various nice communal lounges. There is a real community feel and the residents are genuinely interested in each other and make an effort to welcome new residents and their families.
My
Dad was looked after by lovely caring staff in the last 4 weeks of his life which he spent at St Aidan Lodge. The staff tried to make Dad as comfortable as possible and adapted their care to his needs as his health quickly deteriorated. During this time our Mam was also staying at the Lodge and the staff were also lovely with her. She was invited to join in activities and communal mealtimes and supported by staff and residents through a very sad time. They welcomed our whole family and treated us with tremendous kindness and warmth. We are enormously grateful to all of the staff.

The home was clean, secure and welcoming - plenty of space, the atmosphere calm. Staff were friendly and communicated with excellent skills in a compassionate, supportive and kind manner with each resident, each other and the relatives of residents. I observed some moving and handling skills by staff
when transferring the residents from one seating location to another which was well performed and focused communication between staff members and residents to ensure cooperation and safe transfer. In a sitting room where an activity of hand painting was taking place, the Activities Co-ordinator ensured the residents were able to participate in the activity and positive encouragement was given to the developing creation.
The bedroom was clean and tidy and the pictures of the resident outside the individual room was positive and staff could easily identify who was in the room. I left the home after my visit knowing the relative I visited was receiving an excellent standard of care.

Felt that I must add my review to the care given to my mother by the staff at St Aidan Lodge. She has been a resident there for 6 years and although reasonably sprightly at the beginning she was welcomed wholeheartedly and looked after remarkably well. She had instances where hospital care was needed
and these were dealt with punctually and great care and consideration. Without exception all of the staff are caring, kind, thoughtful and I think probably most importantly genuine. The place is constantly being cleaned and you can tell the residents are well respected and their interests are paramount. When your family member is moved from her home into a care home there are many reservations and doubts. I can honestly say that without the loving care and attention from St Aidan's she would not have lived as long as she has done. Finally, I could not praise St Aidan's sufficiently for their support with my mother and wish them all well for the future.

My father was a resident at the home. The care he received was absolutely wonderful. He was always clean and shaven. His every need was catered for. Nothing was a bother to the friendly helpful staff. The staff were always engaged with the residents and took a genuine interest in them across the day.
The support we were given as a family was nothing but exceptional from the very start and continued until the end. Staff were always friendly and helpful no matter how busy they were.
Unfortunately, my father had a number of medical emergencies which were dealt with in a caring and speedy manner. As a family, we were always informed straight away and kept abreast of any new situations arising.
The home was clean and well looked after. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to anyone looking for the best care in the area.

My husband and I feel as if we have entered an extended family. As a dementia sufferer, my husband needs 24-hour care, he needs to be safe and to be well cared for. All this happens in abundance at St Aidan. I have been given tremendous support as we entered such a great change in our living circumstances.
All of the staff treat residents with dignity taking an interest in individuals whilst working professionally. They are extremely well supported by the management. The premises are kept extremely clean and the atmosphere is excellent.

My parents became residents in St. Aidan Lodge in late November 2023. The management team were incredibly helpful and obliging at an extremely difficult time for the family. Unfortunately, by mid-December my father was in need of palliative care. The staff provided an amazing degree of care, in a most
sympathetic and dignified manner, until he passed away. We were so glad that he did not have to go into hospital. They were also remarkable in their support, compassion and care for both my mother and myself. Since that time, thanks to their constant vigilance and attention, my mother has gained weight and is a little more mobile. We are so grateful that this care home was recommended to us by the sister of a friend and a member of the District Nursing staff. I cannot thank the management and staff enough for the wonderful care they have shown and continue to show my parents. Thank you just seems so inadequate!

My Mam was a resident at St. Aidan’s from July 2020 to November 2023. I cannot praise the staff and care my mam received at this home enough. From the first day, she settled really well considering COVID was around and visiting was limited. The staff at St. Aidan’s are very caring, not only towards
Mam but to all of us as a family, they always kept me updated on all of Mam’s care. Mam classed the staff as extended family. Mam was always clean and comfortable and the care home was also immaculate. I was at the home a lot visiting and during this time I made some good friends with the staff, who supported me when needed. Sadly, Mam passed away in November 2023 and I can only say that the staff were very kind and compassionate towards us all. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone. I would like to say a huge thank you from myself and all of my mam's family for everything you did for Mam and us.

Very high praise is due to all the staff at St Aidan Lodge. My uncle was well cared for, loved the food and was indeed very comfortable for the three years he was living there. I always felt very welcome for visits, and the staff were so supportive in many ways.
In my uncle's final week, in particular,
everyone in the home looked after him with great care, compassion and respect. They could not have done more. We are very grateful for all the hard work these amazing people carry out daily to look after all the residents.

What a terrible experience we have had at this home. Please don’t put your loved ones through what we have been through. Every individual deserves to be cared for and given dignity. We are a close family and felt that we had to visit every day to give us peace of mind knowing that he was okay. We needed
reassurance, the lack of communication didn’t help at all. We have had to take him out of this home. Management and staff watching us struggle with his Zimmer frame, wheelchair and belongings, no help was offered. Absolutely appalling.
Reply from Claire McArdle, Registered Manager at St Aidan Lodge Residential Care Home

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you felt your experience was not what you expected. We welcome all constructive feedback and use it in our staff learning programme to enhance our service. All successful placements require a strong working relationship with open communication, transparency and trust between caregivers and the family of a resident. We held meetings with you and the allocated social worker to discuss any concerns you held, you refused to attend a follow on meeting offered. There were also 96 emails between you and our team during the stay. The social worker stated in writing that she had no concerns of the quality of care given at St Aidan Lodge. We are now aware that your relative had 2 other placements in care or packages of home care terminated shortly before coming to stay with us. We hope that you can find a way of working with the new care home to help ensure this, their fourth placement is fruitful and long term, we wish your relative all the best.
