Throughout my mum's short stay at Castleview I was very happy with every aspect, from the initial information provided and arrival process, the care that was given in difficult circumstances and the way both she and family members were cared for as her life ended.
We were fully consulted at each stage
and clear and timely information given. Our experience was in the dementia ward, where those with different stages and aspects of the disease were treated with kindness and good humour.

Couldn't fault the staff and manager, mum spent her last 8 months at Castleview Care Home with quite advanced Alzheimer's. Many of the staff went above and beyond to help to get her to eat when she first went in, and after she settled she responded well to the staff, some of whom she had a lovely bond
with. They do really care about the residents and treat them with respect, they would also try to accommodate anything we asked for if it was possible. They were very caring and respectful when she finally passed away.
The only negative thing we could say was that from time to time they were short staffed which inevitably has an impact, but isn't really a fault of the home, maybe just a sign of the times.

All the staff were so very mind to mum, no one could have asked for more. Nothing was too much trouble, even at the end. I would always recommend Castleview Care Home.

My mother was a resident at Castleview for approximately two and a half years. During that time, the care she received was excellent. She was always clean, and she enjoyed the food and loved the staff. I, too, found all the staff and management team to be excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending
Castleview.

Having a need for a nursing bed for my Mam, Castleview was, without doubt, our first choice. The Manager went out of his way to accommodate Mam in a much sought-after, homely facility. We felt at ease, from the outset of our enquiry.
Very sadly, Mam passed away a mere two weeks later, her stay all
too brief. The staff are so lovely and a credit to the Management.
I would not hesitate to recommend a stay for your loved ones.

My mum got excellent care in the short time she was with you January 2023 until April 2023. The staff were all amazing with Mum and other members of the family, nothing was a problem for them. When Mum sadly passed away, the staff made sure that I was supported too.
I would highly recommend Castleview
Care Home.

Castleview Care Home is a place you can trust to look after the people you love. The manager and his team delivered the care they promised us from the beginning to the end of my father-in-law's stay there. We gave them our trust and they didn’t let us down.

Castleview Care Home is exactly that. My dad had a scenic view from his comfortable en-suite room, as well as being able to watch the comings and goings of the world as well. The care and respect given by all to my dad, especially at the end of his time there was exemplary. This care was also extended
to myself and family. He and we felt that Castleview was his home from home.
Thanks once more to the manager and his team for all that they do which is above and beyond.

My wife spent only about two weeks in Castleview Care Home. The whole of the staff were outstanding and looked after her so well during her short stay. She died in peace.
From our limited experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending Castleview and giving 100% to the staff for all their help
and support.

My mother-in-law spent her last five months in Castleview Care Home following a major stroke which left her paralysed down one side and unable to eat solids or drink normally. She was always treated with great respect and care by all staff who tried to make her comfortable in difficult circumstances.
I would recommend Castleview to others!
There was very good teamwork, all staff were professional but had a friendly, caring nature with a much-needed sense of humour! Special thanks also to all staff who comforted our family, chatted to us and offered us drinks at all times of day and night!

Our mum spent the last five months of her life at Castleview Care Home following a stroke that left her immobile. All of the staff made her time there as comfortable as possible, treating her with respect and compassion throughout. Our family members were able and welcome to visit every day and our
dog was able to lie on her bed which brought a smile to her face. Our dog also toured the general lounge to say hello to other residents. The team at the home were always available to talk to us concerning Mum's condition and any concerns we had throughout her stay and towards the end, we were able to be with her round the clock. We cannot thank the staff enough for their professionalism and humanity in making such a difficult time for her and us more bearable.

Absolutely fantastic service for my mum's two-week respite. The staff could not do enough to help us and make Mum feel at home! The building was very clean and very well run. The food and activities were great, and Mum loved it; she was sad to leave.
I can not recommend Castle View enough for anyone
to stay. Mum is a stroke victim with limited movement and speech, and the staff's care for her was fantastic!

My wife was admitted into Castleview Care Home in February 2021 with Alzheimer's, during that time she has received excellent care and medical attention. Most of this time she has been bedridden and therefore unable to comment on activities. She is now on end of life care and I'm able to see her every
day. During lockdown at the home, I was able to visit two days per week. I am 85-years-old and live on my own and am treated by all the staff as family. All the staff, from management downwards, are all qualified and work well as a professional team together.

Since being in Castle View the staff members have gone above and beyond in the care of my mum. They treat all residents as family and the care is second to none. Nothing is too much trouble. My mum moved into Castleview Care Home in March, shortly after Dad died. She had Alzheimer’s so couldn’t live alone. She was immediately welcomed and settled in straight away. I cannot thank the staff who looked after mum enough. She was treated with the utmost dignity, care and respect by everyone
who dealt with her. The staff made a great effort to get to know her and she always told me she felt well cared for and that everyone was lovely. Sadly she died last week and I was able to be with her. The staff looked after me as well as they looked after Mum. Castleview is a wonderful, homely place with extremely caring staff. They made my Mum’s last few months comfortable and happy. They looked after me and my brother and sister as well throughout this difficult time. I was so worried about moving her there but I really had nothing to worry about. Thank you so much to everyone who looked after Mum so well and made things so much easier for me.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.253)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.253) out of 10 for Castleview Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.697 for Castleview Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 33 Ratings = 4.697
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.556 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Castleview Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.8 = 0.306
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
