My father went to Riverside House following a few weeks in hospital. Prior to that he had been living in sheltered housing but was struggling to cope as he became more frail.
The staff have been wonderful from the very start, welcoming my father and also my sister and I. I have never known such a cheerful, enthusiastic group of people, but they combine it with professionalism and respect at all times.

Within two or three weeks of Dad arriving we entered lockdown due to Covid-19. The staff have gone above and beyond to maintain contact for families and residents and are always happy to provide an update over the telephone (my father is very deaf so it isn't possible for me to video call or even speak to him on the phone). Riverside House have provided me with a peace of mind I wouldn't have had if Dad had still been in sheltered housing.

Words cannot describe the thanks and admiration I have for this dedicated team at Riverside. In these difficult times, they have continued to provide a wonderful home from home for the residents. They are supremely professional but more than that all service areas go the extra mile to make each resident happy and safe. Thank you all. My mother sees you like family, and I see you as amazing!

Mum was admitted to the home on Boxing Day after a difficult 7-hour journey from London. She was immediately welcomed and supported from then until now through a difficult transition. Staff at the home are at all times friendly, kind and supportive to her and her family. Thank you to them all.

I am very pleased with the care my mother receives at Riverside. The standard of cleanliness has varied over the years but has been very good recently. The current staff are very friendly and my mother seems to be very well looked after.

One of the best atmospheres of a care home I have seen. My only adverse comment is the range of activities do not reflect the range of residents, they are monotonous, unplanned and repetitive. I find the management highly responsive to suggestions to the residents and their families make.

My wife suffers from severe dementia and has lived at Riverside House for the past four years. I call in to see her on a regular basis and I have always found the care to be excellent. The staff are caring and kind and I have had no complaints since she has been at Riverside House at any time. I would give them top marks for the service that my wife has received ever since going to live there.

My mother-in-law lived in Riverside from August 2019 until her death in December 2019. The care she received was excellent from start to end. The staff were caring and compassionate and did their very best to help and make her stay as comfortable and dignified as possible. Senior members of staff were always available for advice and to discuss any queries we had and were very supportive throughout a difficult time. I would have no hesitation in recommending Riverside to anyone looking for care for a relative.

I have no complaints about my care. On the whole, the care staff are kind and friendly. They are all approachable. The food is very good with good variety and the kitchen staff do their job well. The domestic staff work hard to keep the rooms and communal areas nice and clean.

This care home has been a good match for Mum for over a year now, since the initial "only one available" in February 2018 to the "only one we would choose" now! Thank you, Riverside. The staff have risen admirably to the complex symptoms. Mum is now displaying taking great care not only of her but of the family too. So many of Riverside's staff go above and beyond in all of their duties: they really do care!

I have visited the home a few times in the last three months and I have always found it to be a happy and friendly place. The residents are well cared for and the staff work really hard. Inside the home is really nice and it is always clean and tidy. The manager is friendly and easy to talk to.

To be recognised as an individual with unique needs and tastes is something I did not expect. Riverside does it very well. Most importantly the management and staff are caring and considerate. The housekeeping staff work tirelessly to ensure cleanliness is a priority. Frequent and varied activities cater to the needs of those who wish to participate.

Riverside in April 2017 - November 2018, Mum settling in. One-to-one care poor - always chasing basics e.g. creaming of legs as mum is prone to cellulitis. There have been mistakes which were classed as safeguarding concerns. Just before Christmas staffing levels were critically low. A temporary new manager appointed January 2018 and structures have improved. Brought in new key members of staff. The whole atmosphere of care home not as rigid and oppressive to residents. One-to-one care of mum improved greatly. Concerns now when former manager returns.

Overall, I am happy with my relatives care in Riverside House because she is happy and contented, she likes the staff and her room. She does not like joining in activities and is not forced to do so. She is content with her family and staff popping in and out watching her telly, getting her hair done etc. Her only moan is other residents wandering into her room and going through her things. The staff have placed an alarm mat so she can stand on it for help. Her mobility is poor and can't move herself.

Both parents were in this home until dad passed away in June 2017. Consequently, I have got to know the staff and residents very well. Staff are very friendly, they care about their residents but staff turnover is very high. There is no budget for activities and often it is short staffed. Food is fine but portions seem to be too large. I don't feel that mum can have a cup of tea whenever she wants - has to wait for the tea trolley. Domestic staff are brilliant and home is kept clean. Carers help mum with hygiene with no problem. They encouraged mum to eat when she was really poorly. She is safe and warm.

A lot of changes being put into place due to a recent change of managers and ownership. These all appear to be improvements. An 'open door' policy to the manageress works brilliantly for us - and has been very reassuring for both the new user and their family. Both the caring staff and the domestic and maintenance staff are brilliant. Any concerns can be talked about at the time and are acted upon. Only one occasion when I feel I was avoided!
