I can't thank the staff at Valley Lodge for all the care and support that they provide my Grandmother. They treat both herself and the other residents with dignity and respect and nothing is too much trouble. Management are helpful and approachable with any queries and are always keen to ensure that the care of their residents is a top priority. I have visited at different times weekly and the home is always clean and welcoming.

My wife has been resident in Valley Lodge Residential/Nursing EMH Home for over three years. During that time her dependence on the staff looking after her needs has increased significantly. However, her needs are fully met by staff in a kind, compassionate and cheerful manner. The staff are alert to any medical conditions which may be developing and ensure that appropriate action is taken at the earliest opportunity. The food provided is of a very high standard. The domestic staff, cleaners and laundry workers do an excellent job in often difficult conditions.

Overall Experience
Following a rapid decline of his dementia and mobility my uncle was placed into valley lodge. From our initial visit to his acceptance, the manager explained the whole process with professionalism and empathy. She and her staff helped with our own sense of failure having looked after him for the last 18 months, ensuring as smooth as possible transition for us all.
Initially, he was placed into the EMI side but it soon became evident that his situation required full time nursing. Again, the manager and deputy manager were awesome. He was transferred internally onto the nursing side, changing rooms along with his upgraded nursing requirements.
His room is lovely and the facilities are maintained to a high standard. The staff are so good and caring, from the cleaners, kitchen staff, laundry staff, maintenance staff, carers and nurses.

My husband and I can't say thank you enough.

Valley Lodge is a caring home for my mother-in-law.
They provide a variety of activities; crafting, painting, cooking etc. for her to do.
She is well cared for and happy.
The staff are interested in my mother-in-law and take time to get to know her, so they can take an interest in her life and help keep the memories alive.
Family is included in decisions made and we are always kept up to date with outside service involved with her care and welfare.

The staff are exceptional and hard working, from those who work in the kitchens, cleaning the premises, to hands on care. I can not thank them enough.

When my mam and I arrived last January, I thought what am I doing? But after a couple of hours I realised this was the right thing to do. Twelve months on, I and my auntie visit every week to see my mam so settled and happy it's a credit to the staff and management for everything they do. Also, I have to say I also see what they do for the other residents.

My sister has been a resident at Valley Lodge for a number of years. She has CBD and is nursed in bed. The staff are very supportive and friendly, that includes all staff. My sister is cared for and fed by the staff who do a great job. The home has a varied range of activities especially leading up to special occasions and holidays. The catering can be specific for any special diets and needs, drinks etc are freely provided as are snacks. I would choose Valley Lodge always.

My mum has been a resident for a couple of years and has always had respectful and caring support. They are such a hard working and caring team, always providing more than just care going above and beyond. They show emotional warmth and hold a hand for my mum and family. The room is always clean tidy and personal. Can't thank them enough.

My uncle resides at Valley Lodge and moved there about 7 months ago. He is extremely happy there, the staff are supportive and communicate regular activities at the home. Since my uncle, with dementia, has been there he has improved as he is less agitated and looks healthier and happier. From our experience I would highly recommend this home.

My father has been a resident at Valley Lodge for 12 months. It was a difficult decision to put him into full time residential care. The Valley Lodge team helped with the transition and the support we received was excellent. Dad has actually improved, he is eating and his communication has improved, all his needs are met. We have nothing but praise for the staff.

Our experience of Valley Lodge has been so magical thanks to the genuine love and care from everyone here! All the staff, carers, nurses, cook/chef and managers had all the time to ensure Grandma was comfortable, heard and loved. Although it's been a difficult time for us as a family, we have had nothing but support and empathy and it's really made the end for us all so special. One not to be forgotten! Everyone goes above and beyond which is clearly a credit to them as individuals but also the support from management is a huge factor. Thank you for caring with such dignity, love and respect.

This was an unwelcome end for Mum having had a fall earlier in the year. She wasn't ready for residential care, however, the experience Mum and the whole family have had at Valley Lodge has been exceptional. From the first day to the last has been wonderful. All staff have made her final days the best they could be. An extremely special place, the family are very grateful.

Overall I’m happy with the service provided. My dad is looked after and cared for reasonably well. However my concern is the mobile phone use of the staff. I just think it’s not professional for staff members to be sat with their heads in their phones! I have heard management pull staff up for being on them but for me they should be in their lockers!

Review from B C (Sister of Resident) published on 31 January 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My sister has been a resident at Valley Lodge for just over 2 years. During that time all staff, from catering, housekeeping and care workers, have got to know her and her likes and dislikes, treating her as an individual, with care and respect. For the last 12 months, she has had one-to-one care support as there are times when her behaviour can be challenging due to the nature of her illness. The majority of staff supporting her are clearly naturally compassionate and learn how best to help her when she is distressed. The staff have also taken time to know family and friends and if we, as a family, have any concerns the senior staff and manager are always happy to take on board comments or worries and make changes if necessary. It's been nice to see the newly decorated walkways and garden areas and the updated resident's activities programme.
