We have a very close friend in Ashgrove.
The care home is of the highest standards standards of care and cleanliness, the whole team of staff go that extra mile to ensure all residents are cared for to the highest standards.
It's more like a hotel for the elderly than a care home. Entertainment virtually
every day, great food, etc.
Visiting times are not restricted except for meal times.
The residents have hairdressers, nail pampering etc.
It's simply the best place to know your loved ones are going to be treated with the utmost care and respect you would want for them.

Our mum has been here for nearly two years and we've never once had a complaint, the girls are brilliant, so caring and genuinely kind and so helpful we can relax knowing she is having the best care. A special message to her carers who go out of there way to keep us updated, I’d say this home is probably
one of the best you could ever find. Absolutely brilliant, thank you for everything you do for our mum!

Mother has been at the care home for approximately 18 months. After a shaky start, mainly due to bad management, I have to say that since the new manager has take over the place is excellently run. Lovely, happy, caring staff. Homely atmosphere. Spotlessly clean unit. Plenty of varied entertainment
and trips for residents to garden centres etc. Staff are knowledgeable and if medical (GP) treatment is required are on the ball and prompt. They also liaise well with relatives. All in all an excellent unit - would highly recommend! Thank you all for all you do!

Ashgrove Care Home is very special. It has welcomed my mother and made her feel safe, nurtured and 'at home'. Moving out of your own home, into a care home and via a prolonged hospital admission is both stressful and emotional for the person involved, as well as their family. Ashgrove goes above and
beyond to ease that change/transition and make their residents comfortable, valued, involved and truly cared for.
Thank you all at Ashgrove, especially the management, for caring so well for my mother.

I moved my mum to this care home after a short spell of respite care elsewhere. My mum had given up and deteriorated rapidly.
Within a week of visiting Ashgrove, the manager completed an assessment of mum, found her a room and moved her over from the other home. The transition was extremely smooth
and straightforward and my mum settled there amazingly in a short space of time.
I cannot find fault with anything at Ashgrove. The staff are amazing and very caring towards my mum.
My mum always looks happy, well kept and alert. She refers to Ashgrove as home and her general health has improved, ie her mobility and confidence.
The staff are extremely patient with my mum whose sleep pattern is very erratic. I feel very welcome to visit whenever I want to, using access pads to gain entry.
The atmosphere is relaxed with plenty of activities available to stimulate my mum.
The staff have transformed her quality of life and I feel at ease that my mum is in the best possible hands.

My step-father was resident in Ashgrove after a stroke. He was well cared for until his death 12 years ago. My mother visited every day until the end. She then use Ashgrove as a hotel for many years, daily taking coffee and lunch whilst living, mostly at her home. Occasionally "holidaying" for a week
at a time, then 2 weeks, then 4 weeks. she loved the home, she loved the staff and the atmosphere. Two years ago, out of choice, she moved in permanently. By now it was her home. After Xmas she developed terminal cancer and went downhill rapidly, throughout her suffering, the care, from manager through care staff, canteen staff and even the care and maintenance man was exemplary. All did their best.

The home is very welcoming, clean and bright, including comfortable bedrooms and lounges. Carers are very attentive towards the residents and try to include them in different activities. The choice of food is excellent, even visitors are offered a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit. Beautiful gardens
surround the home.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.098)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.098) out of 10 for Ashgrove is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Ashgrove is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.098 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashgrove is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.098
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
